Half an hour later, there was some movement at the Northern City Tower in Tokyo City.
Several ornate carriages appeared, resembling those from the palace, quite impressive!
Following behind were dozens of Imperial Guards dressed in Black Armor, wearing Black Hooded Helmets, and carrying Broadswords.
They were actually going to open the city gates and head outside!
Stopping by the city gate, a man in a red robe stepped out, looking furious. The Imperial Guards were also making a commotion, breaking the quiet of the night.
A sense of anxiety spread; Qin Feng and his companions on the City Wall heard it and rushed down.
Qin Feng, the Deputy Commander of the Cavalry in Tokyo, commanded thirty thousand Cavalry troops, holding significant power.
Right Chancellor Li Gang held him in high regard; his prestige among soldiers was considerable, even surpassing that of some Generals.
Most of the court's Generals had little real power and commanded few troops, merely holding official titles! The Guard Soldiers mostly followed his orders.
It was strictly forbidden to leave the city at night; the court was concerned about spies entering and exiting, with severe penalties including immediate execution for violations.
Upon arrival, the man in the red robe and the Imperial Guards were causing a ruckus, disregarding the Guard Soldiers.
The man in the red robe produced a golden token, which was bestowed by the emperor. Seeing this token was equivalent to seeing the emperor himself and allowed him to command the Guard Soldiers.
He said, "You gatekeepers, open your eyes wide and pay attention! This is a token granted by the emperor. I am Li Tui, sent out for Negotiation with the Jin Kingdom. Hurry up and open the city gates to let us out."
"You are wasting the best time for Negotiation. If the General of the Jin Kingdom gets angry, you will all die. Do you understand?"
The dozens of Guard Soldiers by the city immediately knelt down, apologizing to him! Each one looked pale with fear, deeply worried.
“Lord Li Forgive the people, but there are indeed orders in place. We cannot open the city gates at will to let people in and out. We must wait for the guards to arrive before we can open the gates!”
Li Tui saw Qin Feng walking over with the general, still self-important and smug.
The golden token was immediately extended, with a large character “Order” engraved on it, quite imposing.
“I am Sovereign’s appointed Peace Envoy Li Tui, going to Jin Bing’s camp for Negotiation. Quickly open the city gates and let us out. If we delay, it could jeopardize important matters, and you won't be able to bear the responsibility.”
Qin Feng was very surprised; this person was actually a Peace Envoy going to Jin Bing’s camp for Negotiation.
How could the emperor be negotiating so quickly, lowering himself to the Jin people and offering land and compensation?
The war had just begun; it was not certain that they couldn't defeat Jin Bing.
Originally, he did not want to let them out. He did not want Negotiation; he wanted to fight Jin Bing fiercely, beating them until they were left searching for their teeth, abandoning their armor!
But the nearby Generals were discussing that they must let them out; however, they could not afford to offend the Peace Faction.
Qin Feng could only swallow his anger and said, “Li Tui sir, right? We can let you out, but we must check those carriages. No one is allowed to hide inside.”
However, routine checks were necessary; they could not allow spies to slip out.
Li Tui was very angry; how dare they search the palace's carriages? His face turned red with anger, unable to speak.
The Guard Soldiers walked over and lifted the curtains of the carriages. They took a quick look and saw many boxes that seemed to contain valuable items, but there was no one inside.
After reporting back, Qin Feng opened the city gates and let them out.
Li Tui was so angry that he stomped his feet, his eyes filled with hatred.
He was a member of the Peace Faction, backed by several Chancellors, yet he dared to be disrespected and told to wait!
He could only retreat back into the carriage, like a dog that had been scolded, hurriedly taking his people away.
Li Tui brought his group to the outside of the Golden Army Camp. The Imperial Guards remained outside, armed and unable to enter; only one person could go in.
Now, pale with fear, he no longer dared to act arrogantly. He could bully the Song Soldiers, but in the Jin Bing camp, he was as submissive as a grandson.
After walking for a while, they arrived at the tent of the General of the Jin Kingdom.
Two Jin Bing soldiers in gray-yellow armor led him over and then turned to leave.
Li Tui looked on in terror, his face pale and his body trembling continuously as he sensed a strong killing intent.
Inside the tent were several individuals clad in Golden Armor, who were Jin Bing Generals. Each one was tall and imposing, with fierce expressions that were quite intimidating.
Even more frightening was that they each wielded shining curved sabers, brandishing them as if ready to kill!
The General of the Jin Kingdom, Zhan Han, sat in a large chair with a smile on his face, seemingly unfazed and mocking Li Tui.
Li Tui bent down respectfully, no longer displaying the arrogance he had towards the Song People.
In front of these fierce Jin warriors, he felt as timid as a mouse.
He said, "I am Li Tui, Peace Envoy of the Song Dynasty. On behalf of the Emperor of Song, I have come to negotiate with General Zhan Han. I ask that you calm your anger and resume negotiations with the Great Song."
Marshal Wolibu, dressed in golden armor adorned with fierce Tiger Heads, was comfortably drinking wine, ignoring him.
Deliberately pretending not to hear, he was so self-righteous.
The Generals in front continued to swing their large sabers, their faces filled with murderous intent yet also a hint of amusement, some even slowly approached him.
Li Tui felt even more afraid, beads of cold sweat forming on his pale face. Did they want to kill him?
Feigning calmness, he shouted loudly: "I am Peace Envoy Li Tui, sent by the Emperor of the Song Dynasty to negotiate with General of the Jin Kingdom Negotiation. I ask the great commander to calm down and restore good relations with Great Song Negotiation."
Wolibu's expression changed; the joyful smile faded, replaced by something strange.
"Who is making noise outside? You few, go out and kill those people outside. I don't want to see them anymore."
Several generals in Golden Armor walked over, raising their large sabers, looking fierce and ready to kill!
Li Tui, terrified and feeling weak all over, realized he couldn't escape and said, "Marshal, don't let them kill! I am the Peace Envoy, you can't kill me!"
The few men walked past him, each wearing a sinister grin as they headed outside the main tent.
Soon, screams echoed from outside, excruciatingly painful, as if heads were being severed.
There were sounds of heads dropping to the ground and blood gushing out.
Terrified half to death, he understood that these men were not going to kill him but were killing those outside the main tent.
When he entered earlier, he had seen several people in Black Armor, likely soldiers from my Great Song, captured by them and covered in blood, though he hadn't looked closely.
How can one kill indiscriminately? Captives are also human!
Jin Bing, the Marshal, laughed loudly. Seeing him half-dead and still begging for his life was truly delightful.
The Song People were indeed cowardly; even the Peace Envoy displayed such a demeanor. It was uncomfortable to watch. How could someone so timid dare to come to the Negotiation?
It was truly pathetic. Li Tui was also a useless coward, lacking any courage. The destruction of the Song was imminent!
The Generals below were still wielding their curved sabers, laughing heartily, looking quite pleased as they tilted their heads back.
They mocked this useless Peace Envoy; it wasn't like they were going to kill him, so why was he begging for mercy in such a fearful manner?
Li Tui wanted to cry but couldn't. He had no courage and felt too ashamed to weep; it would be a disgrace to the Great Song!
This was the first time someone dared to mock him like this.
He felt extremely frightened. He had long known that these Jin people were ruthless and had committed numerous atrocities. After occupying the city, they disturbed the populace, leaving chaos in their wake.
He always felt that they wanted to kill him, but he could only brace himself and face what was coming.
