In the city after the rain, the air was thick with humidity. Lin Yuan navigated through the traffic on his electric scooter, his delivery uniform soaked with sweat.
"This damn weather, it’s boiling hot right after the rain," Lin Yuan wiped the sweat from his forehead, grumbling to himself.
Just three days ago, he had returned from a parallel world known as the Tianhua Kingdom, where his experiences felt like a nightmare that still haunted him. He had thought he could make something of himself in that world, but nearly lost his life instead.
"Mr. Lin, has your delivery arrived? I've been waiting for twenty minutes," a customer's impatient voice came through his phone.
"Almost there, just five more minutes," Lin Yuan sped up, turning into a familiar shortcut down a narrow alley.
At that moment, a strange Spiritual Energy Fluctuation caught his attention. Lin Yuan stopped and followed the sensation deeper into the alley. Behind a pile of trash bins, he discovered an injured rat.
This was no ordinary rat. It was three times larger than a typical rat, its fur an eerie shade of blue, and most strangely, it emitted a faint Spiritual Energy Fluctuation.
"A mutated creature after the Spiritual Energy Revival?" Lin Yuan squatted down, curiously examining the rat.
The rat seemed to sense danger and struggled to escape, but its injuries were too severe; it could only spin in place. Compelled by an inexplicable urge, Lin Yuan reached out and gently touched the rat's body.
At the moment of contact, a powerful suction surged from his palm. The rat's body shrank visibly as if something were consuming it. Simultaneously, a wave of unfamiliar memories flooded into Lin Yuan's mind.

"What is happening?" Lin Yuan looked down at his palm; there was nothing unusual about it, yet he could feel something awakening inside him.
After completing his delivery, Lin Yuan immediately contacted his friend Zhou Haoran. As an acupuncturist at a top-tier hospital, Zhou Haoran had a deeper understanding of Lingqi and the human body than most people.
"You say you absorbed a mutated rat?" Zhou Haoran looked at Lin Yuan incredulously in his office.
"Exactly! It felt like... my cells were consuming its cells, and then I gained its memories," Lin Yuan tried to describe his experience using scientific language.
Zhou Haoran adjusted his glasses thoughtfully. "This sounds like some kind of special Lingqi ability, but it doesn’t align with traditional cultivation theories I know. Traditional theories suggest that Lingqi can only be absorbed and utilized through specific Cultivation Methods and practices, not by directly consuming other beings."

Zhou Haoran nodded and took out a small device from the drawer. "This is my latest invention, the Spirit Gathering Device. It can gather the surrounding spiritual energy to form a small Spiritual Energy Ball. We can use it to test your abilities."
Once activated, a fist-sized light blue Spiritual Energy Ball floated between them. Lin Yuan took a deep breath and reached out to touch the Spiritual Energy Ball.

Zhou Haoran nodded. "I'll help you, but be careful. This ability is too unique; if it falls into the wrong hands..."
Just then, the door to the examination room swung open, and a woman in a white coat entered. She had an elegant demeanor and deep-set eyes, holding a document in her hand.
"Doctor Zhou, here is the latest acupuncture research report for your review." Her gaze lingered on Lin Yuan for a moment before her lips curled into a slight smile.
"Thank you, Lu Doctor." Zhou Haoran took the document and introduced her. "This is my friend Lin Yuan. Lin Yuan, this is Dr. Lu Min from our hospital; she is also a senior advisor for the Qi Gong Association."
Lin Yuan's heart skipped a beat at the mention of the Qi Gong Association. He had just discussed this organization with Zhou Haoran, and now this woman was one of its members.
"Hello, Mr. Lin," Lu Min extended her hand. "I sense a unique Spiritual Energy Fluctuation around you; are you a cultivator?"
Lin Yuan shook her hand cautiously, feeling wary. "No, I'm just somewhat interested in Qigong."

Lin Yuan and Zhou Haoran exchanged glances, both seeing the worry reflected in each other's eyes.
"What did she discover?" Lin Yuan asked in a low voice.
"Not sure, but Lu Min is no ordinary person. She holds a high position in the Qi Gong Association, and..." Zhou Haoran hesitated for a moment. "There are rumors that she has been involved in some secret experiments, just like what you saw in that mouse's memory."
Lin Yuan recalled the figure in a white lab coat from the mouse's memory. Could it be Lu Min? If so, then his ability might have already attracted the attention of the Qi Gong Association.
"We need to be more cautious," Lin Yuan said. "But I won’t give up on exploring the potential of this ability. If it truly can help me rapidly increase my strength, perhaps I can find a way to establish myself in this world."
