The private room arranged for Jiang Chen and the Feitian Sect by the Yun Family was on the same floor and not far apart.
Yun Yuechan and Yun Laoyezi entered the room, where Lin Yin and Jiang Chen were already present.
“Grandpa Yun, Sister Yuechan,” Lin Yin greeted them warmly.
Jiang Chen was seated on a nearby sofa, gazing out of the floor-to-ceiling window at the scenery outside. He turned his head slowly to look at Yun Laoyezi and Yun Yuechan.
“Mr. Jiang, I hope you are well,” Yun Laoyezi said, slightly bowing as he approached respectfully.
“Yun Lao, no need for formality. Please, sit down and have some tea,” Jiang Chen replied with a smile.
Lin Yin hurriedly prepared tea for Yun Laoyezi and Yun Yuechan.
“Grandpa Yun, what do you have in your hands?” Lin Yin asked while pouring the tea, glancing at the two sandalwood boxes in Yun Laoyezi's possession.
“This is a small gift I prepared for Mr. Jiang. I hope you won’t find it lacking,” Yun Laoyezi said cheerfully as he placed the two boxes on the coffee table and opened them slowly.
Inside one box lay a dagger that gleamed coldly, exuding a chilling aura that could be felt even from a distance. The other box contained a piece of dark wood that faintly crackled with electricity, clearly not an ordinary item.
“Mr. Jiang, this dagger is nameless but can cut through iron like mud; its murderous intent is not inferior to that of the Sky Sword,” Yun Laoyezi introduced, his gaze fixed intensely on Jiang Chen. However, Jiang Chen showed no emotional reaction, causing Yun Laoyezi's heart to sink—had Mr. Jiang’s standards risen so high over the years that he no longer valued such artifacts?
“Grandpa Yun, what about this? This dark piece of wood—does it have a story too?” Lin Yin’s question brought Yun Laoyezi back to focus as he continued to introduce the second artifact.
“Lin Yin, you don’t understand; this is indeed a piece of wood, but it’s not ordinary wood. This is Thunderstruck Wood, which contains the power of lightning and is still in its original state without any damage. If used to craft an artifact, it could definitely ward off evil spirits.”
“So this is Thunderstruck Wood! Master, can it really ward off evil?” Lin Yin asked curiously.
Jiang Chen picked up the Thunderstruck Wood and examined it with a faint smile. “To find such Thunderstruck Wood on Earth is already quite remarkable. Judging by the age of this willow tree, it must be around a hundred years old. If we use this piece of Thunderstruck Wood to refine talismans, we could make about ten; it can indeed ward off evil spirits and even utilize the lightning power within for attacks.”
Hearing Jiang Chen’s words, Yun Laoyezi felt slightly relieved but found something strange about Jiang Chen's statement—was there Thunderstruck Wood on other planets as well?
As Yun Laoyezi pondered this, Jiang Chen suddenly changed his tone. “Yun Lao, you should keep this Thunderstruck Wood; it has no use for me. And I also don’t need this dagger.”
He believed in not accepting rewards without merit, especially since he had already received the Storage Jade Gourd from Yun Laoyezi—a truly valuable item he had obtained on Earth.
“Mr. Jiang, we... we don’t know how to craft artifacts either; keeping this Thunderstruck Wood would indeed be of no use to us,” Yun Laoyezi quickly replied.
"Right now, it may not seem useful, but it will be in the future. The raw materials for crafting magical artifacts are inherently rare. This Thunderstruck Wood is hard to come by anywhere, and it will only become more precious over time, making it a family heirloom," Jiang Chen said with a smile, not just joking but sincerely reminding them.
The people of Earth naturally did not understand the value of materials for magical artifacts. Once Earth entered a stable cultivation era, the demand for various magical artifacts would increase day by day. Thunderstruck Wood would be in high demand, and its value would soar.
Yun Laoyezi smiled awkwardly, unsure of what to say. His granddaughter was indeed correct; these two treasures were something Mr. Jiang truly looked down upon.
"Put them away," Jiang Chen said again when he noticed Yun Laoyezi hesitating.
"Grandpa Yun, just accept them," Lin Yin said as she took the initiative to place the two treasures into a sandalwood box.
"Well, Mr. Jiang, we feel quite embarrassed that we came to visit without an appropriate gift," Yun Laoyezi said with a hint of shame.
"Yun Lao, I'm meeting you not for your gift. Not only do I not want your gift, but I will also give you something," Jiang Chen replied with a smile.
"Mr. Jiang, you... you want to give us something?" Yun Laoyezi was taken aback, filled with excitement.
This was truly a stroke of luck! Over the past few years, Yun Zhenlu had been searching for treasures in hopes of exchanging for another Jade Pendant Artifact from Jiang Chen. He knew the effects of the last Jade Pendant Artifact Jiang Chen had given him; while others might not understand its benefits, he certainly did. Ever since he started wearing that Jade Pendant Artifact, he had felt rejuvenated and hadn’t suffered from even minor ailments in years. It seemed that living an additional ten years was no longer out of reach, so Yun Zhenlu was eager to acquire more protective jade pendants from Jiang Chen.
