“Master, do you still remember Sister Yue Chan?” After leaving the Feitian Sect Martial Arts Academy, Lin Yin seemed to recall something and couldn't help but ask.
“Of course I remember,” Jiang Chen nodded.
The Storage Jade Gourd and the Sky Sword were obtained from the Yun Family, so how could Jiang Chen possibly forget?
“Sister Yue Chan has been wanting to see you again and has asked me many times. Master, do you have time to have dinner with her this time?” Lin Yin said with a pleading look in her eyes.
“Then let’s have dinner together tonight,” Jiang Chen smiled, not taking it too seriously.
“Master, you’re so kind.” Upon hearing her master agree, Lin Yin immediately beamed with joy.
The Yun Family.
When Lin Yin's call came in, saying that Jiang Chen was in Jinling and had agreed to have dinner with the Yun Family that night, the Yun Family was instantly abuzz with excitement.
Yun Zhenlu, the Patriarch of the Yun Family, was overjoyed and quickly instructed Yun Yuechan to book the most luxurious private room at the Jinling Grand Hotel. He then rushed to his study and took out two sandalwood boxes.
Seeing the old man take out the two sandalwood boxes, the members of the Yun Family couldn't help but be slightly taken aback.
“Dad, you’re not really going to give these two treasures to Mr. Jiang, are you?” Yun Yuechan’s father, Yun Tianxiao, couldn’t help but feel a pang of pain. These two treasures had cost the Yun Family a fortune over the years, worth several hundred million. Although Mr. Jiang was powerful and worth befriending, a gentleman’s friendship can be as light as water; there’s no need to present such heavy gifts upon meeting.
“What? You still can’t bear to part with them?” Yun Zhenlu’s expression darkened.
“Dad, these are your things. I was just speaking casually; please don’t take it to heart,” Yun Tianxiao said awkwardly, still somewhat intimidated by his father.
“Dad, Tianxiao is also thinking of your well-being. Back then, you even gave your most treasured Jade Gourd to Mr. Jiang and also gifted him the Sky Sword. Although Mr. Jiang returned a jade pendant to you, its value surely cannot compare to that of the Jade Gourd and Sky Sword. I think we shouldn’t give Mr. Jiang valuable artifacts every time we meet; it might make him accustomed to it. If next time we meet without any precious artifacts, wouldn’t that leave him feeling displeased? Don’t you think so?” Zheng Juan, Yun Tianxiao’s wife, quickly spoke up in support of her husband.
Hearing his daughter-in-law’s words, Yun Laoyezi lowered his gaze in thought and found her reasoning sound.
“Dad, I’m actually worried about that too. Being inconsistent could cause trouble. I prefer our relationship with Mr. Jiang to be one of gentlemanly friendship. If we give gifts every time, wouldn’t that lower our standing?” Yun Tianxiao said cautiously.
This time, Yun Laoyezi did not refute him but pondered for a moment before looking at several younger members in the hall.
Besides Yun Conglong and Yun Yuechan, there were also two young people who appeared to be in their early twenties.
These two young people were Yun Yuechan’s younger siblings.
Zheng Juan had given birth to four children: the eldest, Yun Conglong, was thirty-four this year; Yun Yuechan was thirty-two; the third child, Yun Yuantao, was twenty-eight; and the youngest, Yun Zhe Yue, was twenty-two years old.
Yun Yuantao and Yun Zhe Yue had previously studied abroad and only returned home after graduation.
The two younger siblings were completely confused about what was happening and only had one question in their minds: Who is Mr. Jiang?
“Conglong, Yuechan, what do you think?” Yun Laoyezi asked.
Yun Conglong had recently left the special forces and now held a significant position within the military. Through his experiences in the army and the complexities of human relationships, he had matured greatly. His well-defined, dark face exuded an air of resoluteness and determination.
“Grandfather, I think my mother has a point. We really shouldn’t bring such expensive gifts every time we meet. Of course, I understand your intention; gifting is meant to leave a good impression on Mr. Jiang and to encourage him to reciprocate with a magical artifact. The jade pendant artifact he gifted us last time was quite impressive. So, I believe we can find a compromise. How about you send Mr. Jiang a magical artifact first?” Yun Conglong suggested.
Yun Laoyezi did not respond immediately but turned to Yun Yuechan. “Yue Chan, what’s your opinion?”
Yun Yuechan pondered for a moment, carefully considering her words. No one in the room knew Mr. Jiang Chen better than she did. Although she hadn’t seen Jiang Chen in years, she often met with Lin Yin, and naturally, they would frequently discuss him. Whenever she said, “Lin Yin, I promise to keep your secrets,” Lin Yin would share everything about Jiang Chen without hesitation, leaving Yun Yuechan utterly astonished each time.
The more she learned about Jiang Chen, the more she recognized his formidable and admirable qualities.
“Yue Chan, you should really persuade your grandfather,” Yun Tianxiao urged his daughter with a glance.
Yun Yuechan smiled; her parents' concerns were understandable. After all, precious magical artifacts could easily cost billions. Even though the Yun Family was wealthy, sending gifts worth billions each time would still be a significant strain.
If there was blame to be placed, it could only be directed at her parents for not knowing enough about Mr. Jiang. If they understood him better, they would realize just how laughable and ignorant their current worries were.
