After leaving Jinling University, Jiang Chen asked Lin Yin to accompany him for a stroll around the streets. As the initiator of the Cultivation Era, Jiang Chen wanted to experience the bustling martial arts scene firsthand.
Martial arts schools in Huaxia had sprung up like mushrooms after rain. Among them, only about a hundred were truly reputable, while the rest were mostly just seeking fame. As Jiang Chen and Lin Yin walked through the pedestrian street, they collected no fewer than ten flyers for various martial arts schools. Even karate, taekwondo, and judo training classes had jumped on the bandwagon.
This was all quite normal. Passing by a trash can, Jiang Chen tossed the flyers inside.
"Master, Huaxia today is really different from before. I love this feeling," Lin Yin said with a smile.
Jiang Chen understood what Lin Yin meant. With the rise of martial arts, everyone could practice, which made Lin Yin feel that there were more "like-minded" individuals around her. Even if she displayed some astonishing abilities in the future, she wouldn’t be seen as an outlier but rather as a strong contender, which was why she enjoyed this feeling.
"The future Huaxia will be even more different," Jiang Chen replied. "However, for Earth to reach my ideal state, it will likely take fifty or even a hundred years."
"Master, let me guess what your ideal state is—could it be something like the world of The Legend of the Swordsman of Mount Shu?" Lin Yin asked curiously.
"It’s impossible for Earth to have that kind of ancient cultivation state anymore. In the future, Earth will have both technology and cultivation coexisting; if they complement each other and achieve a harmonious balance, Earth will become more competitive among the myriad races in the universe," Jiang Chen explained.
Lin Yin seemed to understand somewhat; however, she had no doubts about her master's words and nodded eagerly as if to say she comprehended.
Jiang Chen spent an afternoon wandering the streets of Jinling and gained a genuine understanding of the current martial arts scene. In another year, the movie Mountain and Sea Secret Realm would be released, and he was secretly planning in his mind.
"Master, up ahead is Feitian Sect Martial Arts Academy," Lin Yin pointed to a nearby basketball gym.
The Hidden Sect had only entered society a few months ago, so their own venue had yet to be constructed. It was estimated that within three to five years, martial arts halls would be established across various regions.
"Let's go take a look," Jiang Chen said as he raised his head and noticed that there was quite a lively atmosphere outside Feitian Sect's Martial Arts Hall. He strolled over leisurely.
Although it was already evening, many young people were still queuing outside to submit their applications to join Feitian Sect.
Huaxia's Hidden Sect had its own set of rules and principles for recruiting disciples, and Jiang Chen naturally would not interfere. What he desired was not for one sect to shine alone but for all flowers to bloom together; otherwise, he wouldn’t have distributed thirty-two sets of foundational cultivation techniques.
These thirty-two Hidden Sects were the cornerstone of Earth's Cultivation Era. In the future, when Jiang Chen established his own sect, he only needed to serve as a deterrent. These Hidden Sects were basically spread across different provinces and were inherently competitive with one another; maintaining this competitive relationship would drive their progress.
"Master, should we call over the leader of Feitian Sect?" Lin Yin asked.
"No need; let's just browse casually," Jiang Chen replied.
At the entrance, disciples from Feitian Sect were checking IDs. Those who were not formal disciples could no longer enter the Martial Arts Hall freely—not even for a visit.
In just over a month, Feitian Sect had recruited quite a number of disciples in Jinling, with most being children around ten years old.
In the pursuit of martial arts and cultivation, the earlier one begins, the better. For those over eighteen, aspiring to become a disciple of the Feitian Sect is akin to climbing a mountain. However, there are always a few exceptionally talented individuals or those with strong connections who can still join the sect in their twenties. Liu Heng was one such individual. At that moment, he stood at the entrance of the Martial Arts Hall, maintaining order alongside several senior brothers.
Engaging in such menial tasks naturally meant he was not one of the important disciples of the sect; Liu Heng and his companions could only be considered outer disciples of the Feitian Sect. Nevertheless, Liu Heng felt quite proud, donning the training uniform of the Feitian Sect Martial Arts Academy. He perceived himself as superior, especially buoyed by the admiration from numerous female fans, which made him feel elated, his gaze directed upward at a forty-five-degree angle.
Suddenly, Liu Heng's eyes lit up as he spotted Lin Yin. However, upon noticing Jiang Chen standing beside her, his expression darkened once more.
"Lin Yin, junior sister! What a coincidence! Have you come to your senses? If you wish to join our Feitian Sect Martial Arts Academy, all it takes is a nod from you," Liu Heng said with a smile as he approached her, deliberately ignoring Jiang Chen.
The other outer disciples of the Feitian Sect nearby watched Liu Heng conversing with a beautiful girl, their eyes gleaming with interest. Although these disciples were not inner disciples, they had grown up in the Feitian Sect and had seen their fair share of things. In their words, worldly women were too mundane for them; they had no interest in them at all. But upon Lin Yin's appearance, they immediately changed their views on worldly women—there were indeed beauties outside, and her grace far surpassed that of the women in Hidden Sect.
"Liu Heng, junior brother, is this young lady your friend?" one of the outer disciples asked with a grin, naturally overlooking Jiang Chen—who would pay attention to an ordinary man?
"Zhang Chong, senior brother, she is my classmate and quite skilled in martial arts. I would like to invite her to join our Martial Arts Hall," Liu Heng replied respectfully.
"Oh, I didn't expect your classmate to be a Martial Artist. However, joining our Feitian Sect Martial Arts Academy isn't something we can decide on our own; she will need to undergo some assessments. Fortunately, Inner Disciple Cheng Shixiong is currently available. He has always been fond of talented women; Liu Heng, your female classmate will surely catch Cheng Shixiong's eye," Zhang Chong said with a smile.
Lin Yin found their antics amusing. After glancing at her master and seeing him nod slightly, she understood and decided not to refuse. Instead, she smiled and said, "Could you take us inside for a tour first? After seeing it, I'll consider whether or not to join the Feitian Sect."
"Of course! Here’s what we'll do: you all stay outside while Liu Heng and I take this young lady in for a tour," Zhang Chong declared authoritatively as the highest-ranking individual present.
Seeing Zhang Chong's demeanor made Liu Heng uneasy; he had assumed that if Lin Yin truly joined the Feitian Sect, he would be the first to benefit from it. However, most disciples of the Feitian Sect were single; upon seeing such an extraordinary beauty like Lin Yin, they would undoubtedly rush forward. Even inner disciples might covet Lin Yin's beauty—at that point, where would Liu Heng stand?
With that thought in mind, Liu Heng's mood quickly soured.
