When Zhu Xiaohong came to her senses, she realized that the Beast Tendon binding her had vanished, and the seals on her meridians had been lifted. If it weren't for the six corpses on the ground and the person and beast cleaning up the battlefield reminding her that everything happening before her eyes was real, she would hardly believe that such people existed in this desolate land. According to her father's words, she was considered a genius within her family, but compared to the man before her, she felt utterly insignificant.
"Tsk tsk! A man using such a delicate sword, how embarrassing! Hmm, it is quite a nice sword," Mo Wen remarked as he picked up the broken sword of the Melted Overlord Sea and weighed it in his hand. The sword was two feet long and two fingers wide; although the material used to forge it was decent, the craftsmanship was poor. With some re-forging and refinement, it could become a good sword. After putting away the broken sword, he tossed all six corpses into the Lava and turned to Zhu Xiaohong, who still seemed dazed. This girl, who looked to be around his grandmother's age, appeared to have been traumatized by earlier events.
"Miss Zhu, I apologize for my previous offenses; it was truly unavoidable. I hope you can forgive me," Mo Wen decided it would be best to clear up any misunderstandings first. Apologizing wouldn't hurt him after all; a girl like her would likely be too shy to admit fault. However, after he spoke, Zhu Xiaohong showed no reaction.
"Could she really be dazed? That would be unfortunate; I might end up being hunted down by Old Zhu!" Mo Wen muttered as he observed Zhu Xiaohong's blank expression. He then waved his hand in front of her face and raised his voice slightly, "Miss Zhu!"
"Ah!" Hearing him call out, Zhu Xiaohong finally snapped back to reality. She first noticed Mo Wen's hand reaching toward her and instinctively shrank back in fright.
"Sigh! It seems she's too startled; it might take a while for her to recover. Now Old Zhu has an added burden with a silly daughter. Xiao Hei, what if Old Zhu wants me to take responsibility?" Mo Wen mused aloud, unaware that Zhu Xiaohong was stunned by his earlier battle.
"Who wants you to take responsibility?" Zhu Xiaohong's face flushed red; she had clearly heard that remark.
"Oh, so you're not really dazed... Uh... Miss Zhu, I sincerely apologize for my earlier offenses; it was not my intention. Please bear with me," Mo Wen said awkwardly as he felt embarrassed by her response.
"You! You jest, sir! It was I who failed to consider the situation properly and almost wasted your life-saving medicine. You should be the one forgiving me," Zhu Xiaohong replied, feeling equally awkward. She had intended to be angry but found herself unable to ignore his sudden apology.
"Hehe, then let’s get going," Mo Wen said while scratching his head in embarrassment. It seemed ever since he had that dream, his temperament had changed; perhaps it was due to encountering someone like Zhu Xiaohong that made him feel somewhat out of sorts.
"Boss, you've changed; you're not the same as before," Xiao Hei's voice echoed in his mind at that moment.
"You were studying others and almost ruined my plans; we'll settle this later," he shot back with a glare at Xiao Hei.
"Come on now, Boss! I didn’t do it for nothing; I gained something from it. Do you want to hear about it?" Xiao Hei quickly pleaded for mercy. Knowing he had made a mistake and with prior instructions from his boss not to investigate unless necessary, he felt compelled to share what he had learned eventually. Noticing that his boss wasn't responding, Xiao Hei continued telepathically, "This woman has skills similar to mine; she can see through illusions. You need to be careful."
