Old Liang Si never expected Jiang Chen to be so ruthless. With a cry of pain, he knelt on the ground, cold sweat pouring down his face.
"You have one last chance to answer. If you evade the question again, you won't have a leg left to stand on," Jiang Chen said, his tone still calm and unyielding.
"You've got guts; I won't let you off easy," Old Liang Si retorted, maintaining his pride. After years in this business, he knew he couldn't show weakness. Jiang Chen had already crippled one of his legs; if he grovelled now, it would be a loss too great to bear.
Jiang Chen kicked out again, and Old Liang Si's other leg was rendered useless. Now he could only lie on the ground, writhing in agony, his eyes filled with a fierce light as if he wanted to devour Jiang Chen whole.
"Well, it seems you've chosen the second path. I'll break both your legs as a lesson," Jiang Chen said flatly before glancing at Xu Xin. "Time to get ready for dinner."
"Okay!" Xu Xin nodded eagerly, her eyes sparkling with admiration for Jiang Chen.
With that, Jiang Chen and Xu Xin returned to their table. The other patrons in the restaurant were frozen in shock, but fortunately, there weren't many people present. The restaurant manager had already evacuated the guests. He was also frightened by what had happened with Old Liang Si and noted that Jiang Chen remained unfazed after injuring him—clearly not someone to be trifled with.
At that moment, only Jiang Chen's table remained occupied, while Old Liang Si and his companions lay on the floor, cursing.
"Kid, who gave you the guts to act so arrogantly? You’ve crippled my legs today; I’ll make sure to break all your limbs later," Old Liang Si spat through gritted teeth.
"Don't go anywhere; wait here. I'm calling for help," he added.
"Hah! Do you think I've been in the capital for so many years without making connections? I know plenty of martial artists," Old Liang Si replied angrily.
"Sir, should I call an ambulance for you?" the restaurant manager asked cautiously as he approached.
"No need. Just keep an eye on this kid and don’t let him leave. I won’t rest easy until I see him completely crippled," Old Liang Si said bitterly.
The restaurant manager felt helpless; he just wanted both Old Liang Si and Jiang Chen to leave without causing any more trouble in his establishment. Given the current situation, it was clear that neither side would back down without escalating the conflict further—possibly destroying the restaurant in the process. Seeing that Old Liang Si was unwilling to leave, the manager decided to focus on Jiang Chen instead.
Approaching Jiang Chen, the manager spoke softly and tactfully, "Sir, perhaps you should step away for a moment. Fourth Master is going to call for help; it could be detrimental for you."
"It's fine; you go about your business. The dishes will be ready in ten minutes," Jiang Chen replied dismissively.
Seeing that Jiang Chen was unconcerned, the manager didn’t press further and went back to preparing the meals.
In truth, Jiang Chen was somewhat surprised by how hard he had hit Old Liang Si earlier—crippling both of his legs. He had expected that Jiang Lu's friends would be frightened by this display of violence, but now it seemed he had worried unnecessarily.
As for Xu Xin, she didn’t even need to cheer; her silence spoke volumes about her admiration.
Chen Wenjing and Yu Qing were not too shocked, as if it was only natural for Jiang Chen to act this way. The calmness of Jiang Lu's friends was largely due to Jiang Lu's usual "bragging about her brother." With Jiang Lu's boasting, everyone understood that her brother was a capable person who despised evil. In ancient times, he would surely be considered a chivalrous hero.
