I watched the strange glint in Scarface Tiger's eyes, and alarm bells rang in my mind.
"You better not pull any tricks."
I lowered my voice, my fingers gently caressing the dagger.
"If you lead us into a trap, I promise you will wish you were never born."
Scarface Tiger swallowed hard, the arrogance he had just displayed vanished without a trace.
"Come on, big brother! I wouldn't dare!"
He forced a smile.
"This passage is a secret escape route for our gang. Only five people know about it."
I snorted coldly, choosing to trust him for the moment.
After all, in this situation, he had no better options.
In the dark passageway, we felt our way forward. The pipes around us emitted a low rumble, and the air was thick with the smell of mildew and rust.
"Where exactly does this lead?"
Xiao Yu whispered.
"The lair of the gang," Scarface Tiger replied in a hushed tone.
"There are weapons, food, and medical supplies there, and the people from 'Iron Fortress' won't be able to find us."
Hearing this answer, Xiao Yu and I exchanged glances, both of us coming up with a brilliant idea at the same time.
"How many people are in your lair?"
"Not many should be left now; most people have gone out on missions," Scarface Tiger replied unconsciously.
Only after he spoke did he realize he had let something slip, and his expression changed.
"Wait, you guys aren't thinking of..."
I flashed a dangerous smile.
"Exactly."
"Wow! Are we going to steal from them?" Zhong Dali rubbed his hands together, excitement written all over his face.
I nodded.
"Not only are we going to steal from them, but we're also going to blow the place to smithereens."
Scarface Tiger's face turned pale.
"No way! That's my home! You can't..."
Before he could finish, Xiaoyu swiftly struck him on the back of the neck.
Scarface Tiger collapsed to the ground like a sack of potatoes, unconscious once more.
"It seems we'll have to find our own way," I shrugged and dragged Scarface Tiger along as we continued forward.
The passage twisted and turned, resembling an endless black serpent.
After walking for about half an hour, a faint glimmer of light appeared ahead.
"We've arrived."
I signaled everyone to slow down.
Through a rusty iron gate, I caught sight of a spacious underground area.
It was brightly lit, with several scruffy thugs gathered around a table playing cards. Various weapons and supply boxes were piled against the walls.
I took out my portable mini telescope and carefully observed the entire space.
"What do you see?"
Xiao Yu asked.
"About seven people playing cards, four sleeping, and two on guard."
I put away the telescope.
"Just a bunch of small fry, nothing too dangerous."
"Wow! That's so few?"
Zhong Dali said, disappointed.
"I thought we could have a good fight."
I rolled my eyes.
"Don't worry, soon the people from the 'Iron Fortress' will come to play with you."
"What do you mean?"
Xiao Yu quickly picked up on the implication in my words.
I pulled out a few homemade explosive devices from my backpack and grinned.
"We'll first steal their supplies, then leave a few 'little gifts,' and finally detonate the explosives to draw the people from the 'Iron Fortress' here."
The two sides exchanged glances, ready to reap the benefits.
Xiao Yu's eyes lit up, and she nodded in appreciation.
"That's a good plan."
"But,"
she pointed at the unconscious Scarface Tiger.
"What about him?"
I thought for a moment, then searched Scarface Tiger and found a rag, which I stuffed into his mouth before tying him up securely with rope.
"We'll leave him here for now and deal with him after we're done."
With everything prepared, we cautiously opened the iron gate and slipped into a dark corner of the underground space.
"You two follow my instructions," I whispered.
"Xiao Yu, you’re in charge of scouting and keeping watch; Dali, you handle moving the supplies; I'll set up the explosives."
"Wow! Got it!"
Zhong Dali nodded excitedly, like a child who just received candy.
Xiao Yu silently nodded and vanished into the darkness.
Dali and I patiently waited for her signal.
In less than five minutes, a faint whistle echoed from afar.
"Move out!"
I patted Zhong Dali on the shoulder.
We quickly sprang into action, sneaking along the shadows by the wall toward the supply area.
Just then, Zhong Dali accidentally bumped into a metal barrel on the wall.
"Clang!"
The sharp sound echoed loudly in the quiet underground space.
Everyone turned to look our way.
"Who's there?"
A thug pulled out his gun, asking warily.
I cursed under my breath and shoved Zhong Dali.
"The plan has changed. You distract them while I set up the explosives."
"Wow! Finally, it's my time to shine!"
Zhong Dali grinned widely and swaggered out of the shadows.
"Good evening, friends!"
He waved his strong arms, greeting everyone.
The thugs stared at this unexpected guest in confusion.
"Who are you? How did you get in here?"
The leader of the thugs raised his gun, aiming it at Zhong Dali's head.
"I came here for some fun!"
Zhong Dali grinned widely, suddenly grabbing a chair from the ground and flinging it like a frisbee.
"Bang!"
The chair hit the thug squarely in the chest, sending him flying three meters away.
The other thugs quickly reacted, pulling out their weapons.
"Take him down!"
Bullets rained down on Zhong Dali.
But this big guy was surprisingly fast, skillfully dodging each shot while also grabbing tables and chairs to use as weapons, hurling them at his enemies.
In no time, the entire underground space was in chaos.
Taking advantage of the confusion, I swiftly moved to install explosives at key positions on the support columns and corners of the walls.
Meanwhile, Xiaoyu silently appeared in the supply area, selecting valuable items to stuff into her backpack.
Just as I was installing the last explosive, a sharp alarm suddenly blared.
"Intrusion alert! Intrusion alert!"
A mechanical female voice echoed throughout the underground space.
"Damn it! Their security system is more advanced than I expected!"
I cursed under my breath and hurried to speed up my actions.
Zhong Dali was also caught in a tough battle. Although he was incredibly strong, he began to struggle against the increasing number of thugs pouring in.
"Wei Na! Hurry up!"
He swung his fist while shouting, "I can barely hold on!"
"Just ten more seconds!"
I quickly adjusted the detonation device.
Suddenly, a thug launched a sneak attack from behind, stabbing toward my back.
In a split second, a flash of cold light appeared, and the thug fell to the ground.
Xiao Yu had appeared behind me, holding a bloodied dagger.
"Focus on your work," she said coldly. "I’ll cover you."
Finally, the last explosive was installed. I pressed the start button on the remote, and the red countdown numbers began to flash.
"20, 19, 18..."
"Retreat!" I shouted as I dashed toward the exit.
Hearing the command, Zhong Dali unleashed a powerful move, "Ground Shock," knocking down all nearby enemies before sprinting away.
Just as we were about to reach the exit, a towering figure blocked our path.
"Where do you think you're going?"
It was a muscular man nearly the size of Zhong Dali, his body rippling with muscle as he wielded a massive chainsaw.
The chainsaw emitted a sharp roar, carving a terrifying arc through the air.
"Wow! What a big guy!"
Zhong Dali rubbed his hands together excitedly.
"Finally, a worthy opponent!"
I was so anxious that I was jumping up and down.
"Stop talking! We don't have much time!"
The countdown had already dropped to ten seconds.
In that critical moment, Xiaoyu suddenly pulled a small metal ball from her pocket and threw it at the burly man.
"Bang!"
A blinding flash of light erupted, accompanied by a deafening explosion.
"A flashbang!"
I stared at Xiaoyu in surprise, not expecting her to have such equipment.
The burly man was momentarily blinded, stumbling back a few steps.
Zhong Dali seized the opportunity, charging forward and slamming his shoulder into the man's chest, sending him flying.
"Run!"
The three of us sprinted out of the underground space, diving into the passage we had entered.
Just as we had run less than fifty meters, a violent explosion echoed behind us. The entire passage shook, and debris and dust fell like rain.
"Wow! What a spectacle!"
Even in the tunnel, Zhong Dali could feel the force of the explosion, excitedly waving his arms.
"Keep it down!" I warned.
"The explosion is sure to attract more enemies!"
We dared not linger and continued to sprint through the tunnel.
Finally, we returned to the place where Scarface Tiger had been tied up.
But Scarface Tiger was nowhere to be found.
"Damn it! He’s escaped!" Xiao Yu's expression changed.
"What do we do now?"
I calmly thought for a few seconds.
"We keep moving and stick to the original plan. Scarface Tiger is not a concern; he probably wants nothing more than to put as much distance between us as possible."
Just then, we heard the sound of orderly footsteps and mechanical noises in the distance.
"The Steel Fortress people are coming!" Xiao Yu said warily.
"Let's go!"
We pressed on through the tunnel until we finally found an exit and squeezed through.
Outside was an abandoned parking lot, shrouded in darkness, with only the distant glow of explosions illuminating a small patch of sky.
"Success!"
I let out a sigh of relief and wiped the sweat from my forehead.
"We not only blew up the lair of the Rogue Gang, but we also lured the people from the Iron Fortress over."
Xiaoyu opened her backpack and displayed her spoils.
"And there's more."
We were surprised to find that she had managed to collect a batch of advanced communication devices and some strange potions.
"What is this..."
I picked up a blue vial and examined it closely.
"It seems to be an inhibitor for the Soul Devouring virus!"
Xiaoyu took the vial, her expression serious.
"Why would something like this be found in the lair of the Rogue Gang?"
"Wow! We're going to get rich!"
Zhong Dali snatched the vial from her and held it high above his head in excitement.
"We can trade this for a lot of good stuff!"
Suddenly, I thought of something and snatched the vial back.
"Wait, it's not that simple."
"The manufacturing technology for this inhibitor is only possessed by the Iron Fortress. Where did the Rogue Gang get it?"
Xiaoyu nodded thoughtfully.
"Are you saying that the Rogue Gang might have some connection to the 'Iron Fortress'?"
"Very likely."
I put away the potion, my gaze sharpening.
"It seems we've inadvertently uncovered a much bigger secret."
At that moment, a faint sound of footsteps emerged from the darkness.
We turned alertly, drawing our weapons.
"Who's there?"
From the shadows, a familiar figure slowly stepped forward.
"Long time no see, Wei Na."
That voice made my blood run cold.
