Su Mu understood that he could not hide anything from the intelligent Snow Maiden before him. Gritting his teeth, he mustered the courage to speak, “Esteemed Snow Maiden, to be honest, we have come in search of the legendary Earth Spirit Herb.

The man in black, standing nearby, quickly stepped forward, clasped his fists in salute, and urgently explained, “Great Snow Maiden, please calm your anger and allow me to speak. Indeed, our actions have been inappropriate, but they were driven by necessity! You must understand that the Heavenly Mechanism Medical Codex contains detailed records of many miraculous medical techniques that have long been lost to the world. If we can successfully unlock its seal and make this precious medical knowledge public, it will undoubtedly save countless lives! We implore you to show mercy and grant us this chance.”
The Snow Maiden narrowed her eyes slightly and silently stared at the two before her.
Time seemed to freeze as the tension in the air reached its peak. After a long pause, the Snow Maiden finally parted her red lips and spoke slowly, “Very well. Since you have brought this matter to such a point, I will reveal the truth to you.
Indeed, the Earth Spirit Herb does grow on this snow-capped mountain, but it has been carefully guarded by me for a thousand years. It is not something that just anyone can easily obtain.
If you truly wish to acquire this herb, you must first pass through the numerous trials I have set.”
With that, the Snow Maiden gently flicked her sleeve and turned to walk deeper into the mountain, leaving Su Mu and the man in black exchanging glances, both pondering the difficult challenges that lay ahead.
Su Mu and the man in black felt a surge of anxiety; they had no idea what trials awaited them but knew they would not be easy.
“May I ask what these trials are?” Su Mu asked cautiously.
The Snow Maiden extended her delicate finger towards a deep ice valley within the mountain. “That is Ice Soul Valley. At its bottom grows the Eternal Ice Lotus. You must retrieve a petal from this lotus to prove that you possess sufficient courage and determination.”
Su Mu and the man in black gazed towards the Ice Soul Valley, where an intense chill permeated the air, snow blanketed the ground, and the depths were unfathomable, resembling a gateway to hell.
"Ice Soul Valley... that's the most dangerous place on the snow mountain!" Su Mu gasped.
The Snow Maiden coldly remarked, "What? Are you afraid?"
The man in black took a deep breath and replied firmly, "No, we are not afraid! For the Earth Spirit Herb and the Celestial Medical Codex, we are willing to face any trial!"
Ice Soul Valley lived up to its name, filled with a bone-chilling cold. The entrance was covered in thick ice and snow, with howling winds and swirling snowflakes, resembling a massive ice cellar.
Su Mu and the man in black stood at the valley's mouth, hesitating for a moment. They understood that entering Ice Soul Valley meant embarking on a perilous journey; one misstep could lead to their demise.
"Do we really have to go in?" Su Mu's voice trembled slightly with fear.
The man in black patted his shoulder and said resolutely, "We must go in! We have promised the Snow Maiden, and for the Celestial Medical Codex, we have no other choice."
With that, the man in black stepped into Ice Soul Valley first. Taking a deep breath, Su Mu followed closely behind.
The moment they entered Ice Soul Valley, an extreme cold surged over them like a tidal wave. They felt their body temperature plummet sharply as if they had been thrown into an icy cellar.
The chill was piercing, penetrating to the bone, causing them to shiver involuntarily; even breathing became heavy and laborious.
Looking around, the terrain within the valley was complex and intricate, resembling a dizzying maze.
Towering glaciers loomed all around, resembling sleeping giants that exuded an air of cold severity. The ground was riddled with cracks of varying widths, like the gaping maw of a demon, ready to swallow any careless life that might fall into its depths.
There were also bottomless ice caverns, appearing as gateways to the underworld, dark and profound, shrouded in mystery. Walking here, even a moment's distraction could lead to a fatal misstep, plunging one into an abyss from which there was no return.
With hearts filled with trepidation, they advanced cautiously, each step feeling particularly laborious.
The biting cold wind howled around them, like countless sharp blades mercilessly cutting into their faces, bringing waves of excruciating pain.
The chill penetrated their skin and reached deep into their souls, causing their hands and feet to gradually grow numb, their senses beginning to blur.
At that moment, a sudden exclamation broke the silence as the man in black ahead shouted, “Be careful!” Su Mu's heart skipped a beat; before he could fully comprehend the warning, a crisp cracking sound echoed beneath him.
He hurriedly looked down and was instantly drenched in cold sweat. A massive crack had appeared beneath his feet without him noticing, spreading toward him with lightning speed that was astonishing.
Panic-stricken, Su Mu's face turned as pale as paper, and his body involuntarily recoiled.
In the blink of an eye, the man in black darted beside Su Mu like a wraith.
With quick reflexes, he grasped Su Mu firmly and used all his strength to pull him back from the edge of the crack. Only then did Su Mu snap back to reality, his heart racing as he patted his chest and gasped, “That was close! I almost…”
The man in black looked at him seriously and said in a low voice, “The Ice Soul Valley is fraught with danger; one misstep can lead to death. From now on, we must be doubly cautious.”
