The shadow approached silently, like a ghost, gradually drawing closer.
In the dim and yellowish light, Su Mu widened his eyes, straining to see the true face of the person before him.
Finally, as the figure came nearer, Su Mu was able to make out the appearance of the man.
He was exceptionally tall and imposing, resembling a towering mountain standing there.
Dressed in a flowing black robe that billowed around him, he exuded an air of mystery.
What caught the eye most was the black mask covering his face, obscuring his features completely except for a pair of sharp, eagle-like eyes.
Those eyes were cold and piercing, sending chills down Su Mu's spine.
A sudden shiver ran through Su Mu's heart as an ominous premonition arose within him. Who was this mysterious man who had appeared so suddenly?
Why had he chosen this moment to show himself?
Could it be that he had some intricate connection with the legendary "Heavenly Secrets of the Su Family"?
Countless questions raced through Su Mu's mind.
At that moment, the man in black stepped forward with steady and powerful strides until he stood before Su Mu.
He slightly lowered his head and spoke in a deep, hoarse voice, "You have finally arrived." Those simple four words struck Su Mu's heart like a heavy hammer.
Instantly alert, Su Mu focused intently on this unknown figure in black and demanded sharply, "Who are you? Why are you here?"
In response to Su Mu's inquiry, the man in black did not answer immediately. Instead, a slight smile appeared on his lips, revealing a meaningful expression. He then countered with a question of his own: "Are you Su Mu?"
Hearing his name spoken correctly by this stranger startled Su Mu greatly.
Not only did this person know his identity, but he also seemed to be fully aware of the purpose of his visit. Without a doubt, the newcomer meant trouble! Realizing this, Su Mu clenched his fists tightly, took a deep breath, and replied solemnly, "Yes, I am Su Mu. But you still haven't answered my question—who exactly are you?"
The man in black let out a cold laugh that echoed eerily in the silent night.
After his laughter faded, he slowly said, "Who I am is not important; what truly matters is that I know everything about you, including what you seek by coming here."
Su Mu's heart was shrouded in heavy mist, filled with suspicion as he stared at the mysterious man in black before him, pondering just how much the other knew about the situation.
Finally unable to contain his curiosity and anxiety, Su Mu asked, "You can actually guess my purpose for coming here? Then why don't you tell me what my true objective is?"
The man in black slightly curled his lips into an enigmatic smile and slowly replied, "You are here simply to seek the legendary 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Codex.'"
Upon hearing this, Su Mu's doubts deepened. He widened his eyes in disbelief and pressed, "How do you know I am looking for the 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Codex'?"
The man in black shook his head gently and explained with a serious tone, "This 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Codex' possesses immense power and should never fall into the hands of any individual. Even I am unworthy of such a treasure."
However, Su Mu scoffed at this notion, for this so-called unparalleled secret manual had been quietly resting in his embrace all along, and he had never sensed any extraordinary power within it.
Thus, Su Mu bluntly questioned the man in black, "You keep insisting that the 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Codex' is incredibly powerful, yet it is right here in my hands, and I don't feel anything special about it at all!"
The man in black seemed taken aback by Su Mu's response, a hint of surprise crossing his face.
After a brief pause, as if he were rapidly contemplating something in his mind, he fixed his gaze on Su Mu and commanded without room for argument, "Since you insist that the 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Codex' is in your possession, then quickly take it out so I can see it with my own eyes!"
Su Mu hesitated for a moment but eventually retrieved the 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Codex' from his robe. The man in black took the codex and carefully flipped through its pages, shock evident on his face.
"This... is this really the legendary 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Codex'?" The man in black's eyes widened with disbelief as he murmured with a trembling voice.
He held the yellowed ancient book as if it were a rare treasure while simultaneously feeling an overwhelming sense of confusion.
"But why does the power emanating from it seem so weak? It’s like a candle flickering in the wind!" Su Mu leaned closer to examine the mysterious codex, frowning deeply as he muttered to himself with doubt.
He had originally placed high hopes on this 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Codex,' expecting to gain powerful medical knowledge and miraculous abilities from it; however, what lay before him was far from his expectations.
"Could it be that this 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Codex,' which I obtained after so much hardship, is actually fake?"
With that thought, Su Mu's heart sank to the depths of despair, disappointment evident on his face.
He stared blankly at the codex in his hands, confusion and helplessness filling his gaze.
At that moment, the man in black, who had remained silent until now, slowly shook his head and said firmly, "No, this 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Codex' is indeed genuine; it's just that its immense power is currently sealed away."
"Sealed?" Hearing this word made Su Mu's heart leap. He quickly asked, "Who sealed its power? And for what purpose?"
The man in black let out a deep sigh, then raised his head to gaze into the distance, seemingly lost in distant memories.
After a while, he slowly spoke, "The one who sealed its power was the previous Guardian of the 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Codex.'"
"Guardian?" Su Mu's heart stirred, and a series of questions flashed through his mind.
He stared at the man in black and tentatively asked, "So, my grandfather was the one who sealed it? He was the first Guardian of the 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Codex'?"
The man in black nodded slightly, indicating his agreement.
His gaze grew deep and serious as he solemnly stated, "Currently, I am the present Guardian tasked with protecting the 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Codex.'
My duty is to ensure that this medical codex does not fall into the hands of wicked individuals, to prevent it from bringing about great disasters and harm."
Upon hearing these words from the man in black, Su Mu couldn't help but feel a surge of respect.
He looked at the resolute face and upright figure of the man before him, feeling an indescribable sense of admiration and emotion welling up inside him.
At that moment, he finally understood that this man in black was not the enemy he had previously thought; on the contrary, he had been silently fulfilling the sacred duty of guarding the 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Codex.'
"Do you know how to unlock the seal of the 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Codex'?" Su Mu asked.
