Tianji Valley, just as described in the ancient county records, is deeply hidden among the towering and majestic mountains.
The mountain paths here are exceptionally rugged and difficult to traverse, with steep and perilous sections everywhere. Coupled with the dense forests and thorns that blanket the area, it is no wonder that few have ventured into this region.
Su Mu embarked on this arduous and challenging journey alone.
He climbed over mountains and crossed rivers, eating whatever dry rations he could find when hungry, and seeking shelter wherever he could when tired. After several days of difficult travel, he finally arrived at this mysterious and secluded valley.
At the entrance of the valley, lush vines intertwined to form a natural green barrier; thorny brambles grew densely, completely obscuring the entrance. Without spending considerable effort to search carefully, one would likely miss this gateway into the valley.
Su Mu cautiously extended his hands, laboriously pushing aside the layers of vines, then squeezed himself into the valley.
As soon as he stepped inside, he was captivated by the breathtaking scenery before him: towering trees shot up towards the sky like giant green umbrellas; a crystal-clear stream meandered through, sparkling like silver thread, its waters flowing gently and producing a melodious sound; the air was filled with a subtle and refreshing herbal fragrance that uplifted his spirits.
Following the stream deeper into the valley, Su Mu soon spotted some crumbling walls and remnants of buildings.
Additionally, there were several stone houses scattered around, heavily wrapped in vibrant green vines.
Though these structures now appeared dilapidated, their remaining scale and layout hinted at a once-thriving prosperity. It was easy to imagine that this place had once been a bustling village filled with lively voices.
As he continued walking, Su Mu came upon a stone house that was relatively well-preserved.
He paused, gazing at this ancient and mysterious building.
The marks of time were deeply etched into the stone house; its once-sturdy door had decayed due to years of neglect, appearing as if it would turn to dust with just a light touch.
Su Mu cautiously extended his right hand and gently pushed against the crumbling stone door.
With a creak, the door seemed to awaken, slowly swinging open, releasing a wave of musty air that hit him in the face.
Inside, thick layers of dust filled the room, and each step he took stirred up clouds of dust that made him cough involuntarily.
Upon closer inspection, he noticed spider webs hanging in every corner like delicate curtains, transforming the space into a long-forgotten world of cobwebs. It was clear that no one had set foot here for a long time; time itself seemed to have frozen in this place.
However, Su Mu was not daunted by these sights.
Taking a deep breath to steady himself, he began to search the room meticulously.
His gaze swept over every corner, leaving no potential hiding spot for clues unchecked.
Finally, amidst a pile of clutter, he discovered several tattered books.
Su Mu hurried forward and picked them up.
Gently blowing away the dust from their surfaces, he slowly opened the pages.
What greeted his eyes were densely packed characters, filled with knowledge of medicine and divination! Su Mu felt a surge of joy within him, as these contents bore many similarities to the "Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual" he had been seeking.
At that moment, his gaze inadvertently fell upon a portrait hanging on the wall.
The figure in the painting was an elderly man with kind eyes. Dressed in a long robe and holding an ancient book, he smiled as he gazed into the distance.
Su Mu Yue felt that the appearance of the old man in the painting bore a faint resemblance to the mysterious elder he had encountered before, though the figure in the painting appeared somewhat younger.
At the bottom of the portrait, there was a line of small text: "Heavenly Mechanism Su Family, Eighteenth Generation Descendant, Su Changqing." Upon reading this line, Su Mu's heart jolted, for the name "Su Changqing" was all too familiar to him; it was none other than his own grandfather!
However, he was puzzled. If his grandfather was the eighteenth generation descendant of the Heavenly Mechanism Su Family, then why was his father not involved in this path?
And what generation descendant would he himself become of the "Heavenly Mechanism Su Family"?
A series of questions flooded his mind, making Su Mu feel increasingly closer to uncovering a long-hidden truth.
Filled with anticipation and curiosity, he decided to continue searching carefully in the room, hoping to find more important clues that could help unravel the mystery.
After some diligent effort, Su Mu finally made a discovery.
In a corner of the room, he found a concealed compartment that was not easily noticeable.
Gently opening the compartment, he saw an old diary quietly resting inside. Although its cover had yellowed with age, four large characters were clearly inscribed on it—"Su Changqing's Journal."
Su Mu took a deep breath and carefully cradled the precious diary in his hands as if it were a rare treasure.
Then, he slowly turned to the first page of the diary, ready to delve into its recorded contents…
