The cave was dimly lit, the air thick with humidity as if it could be wrung out for water.
A musty smell permeated every corner, drilling straight into one's nostrils.
Su Mu pressed tightly against the cave wall, utilizing the magical power of the invisibility talisman. He moved cautiously, heart racing, inching closer to the kidnapper.
The kidnapper was a towering figure, muscles bulging like small hills, and his face was a mass of coarse flesh, giving him a fierce and menacing appearance.
In his hand, he gripped a gleaming dagger, its blade glinting with a chilling light.
At that moment, the dagger was raised high, pointed directly at Liu Qingqing, who was bound and thrown on the ground.
Liu Qingqing's clothes were already tattered and filthy, covered in stains and dirt. Her once fair skin had turned pale as paper from being trapped for so long.
Her beautiful large eyes were filled with deep fear, her body trembling uncontrollably.
When she suddenly caught sight of Su Mu stealthily approaching, a flicker of hope flashed in her gaze, but it quickly vanished, replaced by despair.
Clearly, she understood that it would be nearly impossible for Su Mu alone to rescue her from the clutches of this ruthless kidnapper.
However, immersed in threats and intimidation, the kidnapper remained oblivious to Su Mu's quiet approach.
He continued to ramble on to Liu Qingqing, "Hmph! If your old man doesn't hand over the money soon, don't blame me for being ruthless!"
Upon hearing the word "money," Su Mu's heart stirred. It seemed the kidnapper's motive was financial gain rather than harm to Liu Qingqing.
This realization eased some of the tension in his heart and infused him with more courage and determination to rescue her.
Like a ghost, he silently maneuvered behind the kidnapper, holding his breath and focusing intently as he awaited the perfect moment to catch this vicious criminal off guard.
However, just as he prepared to strike, heavy and hurried footsteps suddenly echoed from outside the cave.
The sudden noise shattered the previous tranquility, causing the kidnapper to become alert like a startled bird.
He quickly raised his menacing head, his sinister eyes fixed intently on the cave entrance, and shouted angrily, "Who dares to intrude here?"
Accompanied by the approaching footsteps, a sharp yet slightly trembling woman's voice drifted in from outside the cave, "It’s me."
Hearing that familiar voice, Su Mu's heart skipped a beat, for he recognized its owner—it was none other than the current wife of the Liu Family Head!
Could it be that she was the mastermind behind this kidnapping?
With this thought, Su Mu instinctively covered his mouth and held his breath tightly, not daring to make a sound, fearing that even the slightest noise might reveal their hiding place.
Before long, the Liu Family Head's current wife entered the cave with light yet somewhat frantic steps.
Her fair hands were firmly holding a heavy package as she walked straight towards the kidnapper without hesitation. In a commanding tone, she said, "This contains all the money you asked for!"
Upon seeing this, a greedy smile immediately spread across the kidnapper's face.
He eagerly snatched the package from her and impatiently opened it.
Gazing at the substantial wealth before him, the kidnapper could hardly contain his joy; his previously fierce countenance now radiated like a blooming chrysanthemum.
"Haha, indeed, Madam is wise and knows how to act in accordance with the situation! Since that's the case, I won’t make things difficult for you anymore; I’ll release your people!" With that, he turned to look at Liu Qingqing, who was bound and thrown in a corner, a sly glint flashing in his eyes...
He cautiously extended his hands and gently untied the ropes tightly wound around Liu Qingqing.
Every movement was so gentle, as if afraid of hurting her.
When the last loop of rope was loosened, Liu Qingqing finally regained her freedom.
She slowly lifted her head, her gaze first landing on that familiar yet strange figure nearby—it was her stepmother!
At this moment, Liu Qingqing's eyes were filled with confusion and disbelief.

She stared wide-eyed at the mysterious man before her, her voice trembling as she asked.
In response to her question, Su Mu's lips curled into a slight smirk, revealing a cold smile.
Without hesitation, he reached up and tore off the invisibility talisman stuck to his body, replying coldly, "Hmph, I'm here specifically to capture you!"
