“That Jiang Chen kid may be impressive, but he wouldn’t dare go against someone from the military,” Zhou Pingnan added.
“Come on, let me take you to meet Colonel Shi,” Zhou Pingyong said with a grin as he strode toward Shi Hao.
“Colonel Shi, long time no see! Now that you’re in Hangcheng, you must let me extend my hospitality,” Zhou Pingyong said cheerfully. Although his demeanor and tone suggested familiarity with Shi Hao, as if they were old friends reuniting, the slight bend in his posture and the underlying nervousness in his voice revealed that he didn’t hold much standing in front of Shi Hao.
Few people at the scene knew about Shi Hao's true identity. When he noticed Zhou Pingyong approaching, his gaze lingered on him for over five seconds.
Finally, amidst Zhou Pingyong's anxious anticipation, Shi Hao seemed to come to a realization but displayed no other expression; he merely said lightly, “So it’s you, Mr. Zhou.”
The Zhou family was merely a second-tier family in Hangcheng. For someone as young as Shi Hao to become a Colonel required not just experience and strength but also a solid background. The Zhou family was insignificant in his eyes; however, he didn’t treat them too coldly and remembering Zhou Pingyong at all was already quite generous.
Zhou Pingyong didn’t have high expectations; just the fact that Shi Hao remembered him made him secretly relieved.
“Colonel Shi, this is my second brother, Zhou Pingming, and my third brother, Zhou Pingnan. They both admire you greatly,” Zhou Pingyong introduced.
Zhou Pingming and Zhou Pingnan hurriedly greeted Shi Hao in a subservient manner, their demeanor lacking any dignity.
Shi Hao merely glanced over them and nodded slightly in acknowledgment.
The three brothers felt somewhat awkward. Zhou Pingming and Zhou Pingnan exchanged glances with their elder brother, silently questioning him: Elder Brother, are you really close with Colonel Shi? It doesn’t seem that way.
“Mr. Zhou, if you have nothing pressing, please feel free to carry on. I’m here today and it’s not appropriate for me to meet outsiders,” Shi Hao stated plainly.
“Uh, Colonel Shi, actually I have something important I want to tell you,” Zhou Pingyong said hesitantly despite feeling awkward.
“Is it something important for you or something important for me? If it’s only important to you, then there’s no need to tell me. I’m busy today; I should mention that my superior will be arriving shortly,” Shi Hao replied directly.
Zhou Pingyong forced a smile but was startled internally; Colonel Shi's superior must at least be a Major General.
“Colonel Shi, this matter is very important to me and may also be significant for you,” Zhou Pingyong said earnestly.
“Oh? Then go ahead and tell me what it is,” Shi Hao said with a hint of interest.
“This matter is quite lengthy to explain. Colonel Shi, could we step aside so I can explain it to you in detail?” Zhou Pingyong asked seriously while glancing around.
