The southern mountains stretched endlessly, shrouded in mist, resembling a mysterious fairyland. Su Mu and Ye Qiu, following the vague notes of Wang Lao, arrived in this mountainous region to search for an ancient tomb that might hold the secret of the Soul Mirror.
"The south is so vast; where should we start looking?" Ye Qiu gazed at the endless mountains, feeling a sense of confusion.
Su Mu smiled confidently and took out three Ancient Bronze Coins. "Don't worry, I have a method." He focused his mind again, silently reciting a mantra as he tossed the coins onto the ground.
"Gen represents the mountain, Xun represents the wind, Kan represents water..." Su Mu carefully observed the Gua Xiang. "With Gen above and Xun below, it indicates a mountain wind gu. The Gua Xiang shows that we need to head northwest to find a location with a feng shui pattern known as 'Mountain Surrounded by Water.'"
Although Ye Qiu still didn’t fully understand Su Mu's Gua Shu, her previous experiences led her to trust him. The two followed the guidance of the Gua Xiang and proceeded northwest.
The mountain path was rugged and overgrown with thorns. After several days of travel, Ye Qiu was exhausted. "Su Mu, how much longer do we have to walk? Is this Gua Xiang really reliable?"
Su Mu did not respond but continued forward silently. He believed in the guidance of the Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual and trusted his own judgment.
After another half day of trekking, they suddenly found themselves in a clearing. A valley appeared before them, surrounded by mountains, with a clear stream winding through its base—exactly the feng shui treasure land known as 'Mountain Surrounded by Water.'
"This is it!" Su Mu pointed at the valley.
Ye Qiu followed Su Mu's finger and saw a collapsed ancient tomb faintly visible within the valley. The inscriptions on the tombstone were already blurred, but she could still make out the character for "Tang."
"It really is an ancient tomb from the Tang Dynasty!" Ye Qiu exclaimed.
The two approached the tomb and examined it closely. The entrance had been sealed by dirt, but Su Mu quickly located it using the dragon-seeking techniques recorded in the Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual.
Once inside the tomb, Su Mu cast another divination to deduce the location of the Soul Mirror. The Gua Xiang indicated that the Soul Mirror lay within the stone coffin of the main burial chamber.
Opening the stone coffin, there were no burial items aside from the skeleton, except for a bronze mirror tightly grasped in its bony hand.
"That's it!" Ye Qiu immediately recognized the "Soul Mirror" wrapped in red cloth.
Su Mu carefully took out the ancient mirror and unveiled the red cloth. The mirror emitted an eerie glow in the dimly lit tomb.
Once again, Su Mu employed the secret techniques from the "Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual" to restore the scenes that the "Soul Mirror" had once witnessed.
It turned out that after Wang Lao obtained the "Soul Mirror," he would gaze into it every night, hoping to uncover the mysteries of life and death. However, the "Soul Mirror" absorbed too many souls and became filled with Evil Spirit energy, ultimately backfiring on Wang Lao, leading to his shattered soul and demise.
With the truth revealed, Ye Qiu was completely convinced of Su Mu's Gua Shu. "Su Mu, your Gua Shu is truly remarkable!"
Su Mu smiled, "It's all thanks to the 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual.'"
"From now on, let's work together!" Ye Qiu's eyes sparkled with anticipation. "Your Gua Shu combined with my detective experience will surely solve more bizarre cases!"
Su Mu nodded in agreement. After returning to the city, Ye Qiu handed over the "Soul Mirror" to the national cultural relics department. This antique filled with supernatural elements was ultimately sealed in a special vault to prevent it from endangering humanity again.
The case of Wang Lao was thus solved, and Ye Qiu's admiration for Su Mu deepened further. To her, Su Mu's medical skills and Gua Shu seemed almost miraculous.
"Su Mu, are you really planning to open a clinic?" One day, Ye Qiu visited Su Mu's residence and curiously asked, "With your abilities, you could do so much more."
Su Mu smiled as he diagnosed a patient, saying, "Practicing medicine and saving lives is also a very meaningful endeavor."
"But your Gua Shu..." Ye Qiu wanted to say more but was interrupted by Su Mu.
"Gua Shu is just an aid; medical skills are the foundation," Su Mu said. "Besides, I prefer a peaceful life."
Ye Qiu understood Su Mu's thoughts, but she still felt a bit regretful. In her eyes, Su Mu's abilities should not be buried in a small clinic or spent as an intern in a hospital.
"However," Su Mu paused and continued, "if I encounter some special cases, I would still be happy to help."
Upon hearing this, Ye Qiu's eyes lit up. "Really? That's great!"
Just then, Ye Qiu's phone rang. It was a call from the bureau, informing her that there was a new case that needed her attention.
"What kind of case?" Ye Qiu asked as she answered the call.
"It's a bizarre Missing Case," came the anxious voice of her colleague on the other end. "A young woman suddenly disappeared at City Center Square. The surveillance footage shows that it was as if she… vanished into thin air!"
"Vanished into thin air?" Ye Qiu's heart skipped a beat, reminding her of Wang Lao's case.
After hanging up the phone, Ye Qiu looked at Su Mu with a hint of anticipation in her eyes. "Su Mu, it seems we need to collaborate again."
Su Mu smiled and stood up to grab his medical kit. "Let's go."
The two of them stepped out of their residence, heading toward the new mystery. What challenges awaited them? What truths would be uncovered? A new journey was about to begin…
