After making up his mind, he began to communicate with the Thin Ghost and Liu San to set up his plan. His strategy was simple: have the Thin Ghost and Liu San hold off Mo Wen while he went to capture Xiao Hei. Once that was done, he would kill Mo Wen. If Mo Wen tried to rescue Xiao Hei, he would first eliminate Mo Wen and then capture Xiao Hei. It was a perfect plan.
What they didn't expect was that everything had already been relayed to Mo Wen by Xiao Hei while they were plotting.
"Boss, what should we do? It seems like you're doomed," Xiao Hei couldn't resist teasing Mo Wen.
"Can he catch you?" Mo Wen wasn't in the mood for banter; his greatest concern was Xiao Hei being captured, which would put him at a disadvantage.
"That's impossible. I'm destined to become a Divine Beast," Xiao Hei replied confidently.
"Then that's good." Hearing that Xiao Hei had the means to protect himself, Mo Wen felt more at ease.
"Boss, you still haven't said what we should do. If you die, what will happen to my meals in the future?" Xiao Hei began to panic at Mo Wen's words. He could escape on his own, but if his boss died, he would surely be heartbroken.
"Let's turn the tables on them!" Mo Wen had never considered that he would die. From the earlier battle, he had already gauged their limits. He planned to quickly deal with the two of them and then handle that Gong fellow. He had absolute confidence in himself against others of the same realm. With a strategy in place, he still maintained an appearance of being out of breath and on the verge of collapse.
"..." Watching his human boss, Xiao Hei felt helpless; he was quite good at pretending.
"I think this island is nice; you should stay here!" With their plan set, the Death-Defying Trio began to take action. Hearing their boss's words, the Thin Ghost and Liu San charged toward Mo Wen again. With their boss's arrangement, they felt much more relaxed; all they needed to do was stall until Boss Gong captured that fiery little beast. Even if they couldn't hold out, it didn't matter—this kid was definitely not going to survive today. They were absolutely confident because the three of them had once killed a Jade Body Realm Cultivator together.
"Here we go again!" Putting on an act as if forced into battle, Mo Wen met them head-on. Soon, the previously calm mountaintop was once again filled with dust as the three engaged in combat. This time, from the very beginning, Mo Wen showed signs of being overwhelmed and sustained injuries. As he watched the Thin Ghost and Liu San not only hold off their opponent but also gain the upper hand, Boss Gong's attention shifted back to Xiao Hei, who conveniently stood still on a rock.
"You are mine!" Suddenly, Boss Gong lunged at Xiao Hei with a ferocity that caught him off guard. A net appeared in his hand out of nowhere, spreading wide in mid-air with an opening several dozen feet across.
"Not a chance!" The moment Mo Wen saw the net, his eyes lit up; this net was a treasure. He immediately charged at Boss Gong.
"Haha, kid, you don't know your limits! To have us three brothers attack you simultaneously means even if you die without a complete corpse, it will be an honor!" Boss Gong laughed heartily as he saw Mo Wen rushing in for rescue; everything was unfolding just as he had imagined. "Third Brother, tell him why we are called the Death-Defying Trio!"
"It's because of our weapons: Boss Gong's fan, Thin Ghost's sword, and my knife! Kid, let us show you our ultimate trio attack!" At Boss Gong's command, Liu San proudly introduced their group name and charged straight at Mo Wen.
"Heh, is that so? From my perspective, one is a coward, one is a fool, and one is a brute; you should really call yourselves the Three Fools!" A cold voice echoed in Liu San's ear. He felt a chill run down his spine and then suddenly sensed that his upper body was separating from his lower body.
