Chen Chaoyue had no idea that Jiang Chen's background was so impressive. No wonder he was so arrogant, and no wonder Jiang Jiewen liked him; it seemed that she was only attracted to his status and wealth.
"Since you say so, I can only consider myself unlucky," Chen Chaoyue said as he returned to the crowd without saying another word, preparing to leave.
"Why is Chen Chaoyue leaving? Didn't he want to call Brother Bao over?" someone asked.
"Maybe Brother Bao isn't coming, and he's feeling guilty, so he's leaving," another person speculated.
Everyone looked confused; the story didn't seem to be unfolding as expected.
"Chao Ge, what's wrong? Can't you move the car? Otherwise, it'll be hard to find Jiang Chen for compensation," one of Chen Chaoyue's friends stepped forward and said.
"Compensation? Forget it, I'm just unlucky," Chen Chaoyue retorted angrily before striding away.
"What just happened?"
"???"
The crowd was bewildered, completely unable to understand.
In a tea house in Qingcheng County, Jiang Chen preferred tea over coffee. He sat across from Jiang Jiewen, personally brewing tea. The aroma filled the air, and wisps of steam danced gracefully in the elegant tea room, creating a serene atmosphere.
"This tea house has a really nice environment," Jiang Jiewen broke the silence.
"It is indeed nice. By the way, are you planning to stay in Jinling City after graduation?" Jiang Chen looked up at her with a warm smile.
Jiang Jiewen nodded and replied, "I have a classmate and good friend named Hu Li. Her family is in Jinling City and runs a business. However, when we graduated last year, something happened at her home, and she had to go back to manage the family company. Although it's not very big, it's not easy to manage either. Hu Li doesn't have much work experience, let alone management experience. In the end, she insisted on inviting me to be her advisor, so I went to help her. Now her company is basically stable, and I can step back. As for what I want to do next, I haven't thought it through yet."
Seeing that Jiang Chen was listening attentively, Jiang Jiewen paused for a moment before looking at him with an expectant gaze and said, "Why don't you help me think of something?"
"Then I'll help you think of something," Jiang Chen smiled and accepted her request while handing her a cup of tea. Jiang Jiewen took the cup and savored it while waiting for Jiang Chen's idea.
After thinking for about ten seconds, Jiang Chen smiled slightly and said, "How about I give you a company? You can be the chairperson."
"Huh? I—I don't have that capability! Aren't you afraid I'll run your company into bankruptcy?" Jiang Jiewen exclaimed in surprise before jokingly adding.
"I hold the pulse of the global economy in my hands. If I go bankrupt, it would probably trigger a global financial crisis," Jiang Chen replied with a laugh.
To others, this might sound like boasting, but Jiang Jiewen believed him wholeheartedly.
"Jiang Chen, thank you for your kindness, but being a chairperson might not suit me," she smiled gently. What she truly wanted wasn't this; she hoped Jiang Chen would understand.
And how could Jiang Chen not understand?
To Jiang Chen, romantic relationships had long lost their significance. As a dignified Immortal Lord, how could he be bound by such trivial matters?
However, Jiang Jiewen could not afford to think the same way; after all, she was merely a mortal woman.
"Then I don't know how to advise you," Jiang Chen said with a smile. "In truth, whatever you choose to do, the most important thing is to make yourself happy."
"I... I want to..."
Jiang Jiewen hesitated, ultimately unable to voice her thoughts. Instead, she changed the subject and asked, "By the way, Jiang Chen, where are you planning to go after the New Year?"
