My aunt saw me and smiled, saying, "Xiao Qi, where are your grandparents?" 0
I replied, "They went to the town to see a doctor." 0
My aunt asked, "Who is sick?" 0
I answered, "My grandmother is sick. She said she would be back in the afternoon." 0
My aunt muttered to herself, "Then it shouldn't be anything serious." 0
She brought her luggage into the house. In our east room, we were still keeping four lambs, and there was an unpleasant smell in the air. 0
My aunt's boyfriend, Wang Liang, changed his expression as soon as he entered the room. Covering his nose, he rushed outside and said unhappily, "You actually keep sheep in your house? It stinks!" 0
My aunt chuckled awkwardly and said, "Xiao Liang, don't be mad. I didn't know there were sheep in the east room. Let me take you to the west room." 0
She then asked me, "Is the west room clean?" 0
I replied, "Yes, it's clean." 0
My aunt led Wang Liang to the west room and moved her luggage there as well. 0
After a while in the west room, Wang Liang came out holding a few candies and waved at me. I ran over to him, and he placed the candies in my hand, smiling as he asked, "What illness does your grandmother have? Why isn't she back yet?" 0
I said, "She has a stomachache." 0
Just as I finished speaking, my aunt came out of the storage room with a plate of sheep's head meat. 0
She handed the plate to Wang Liang and said, "There's nothing ready to eat at home except this plate of sheep's head meat. You can have a bite for now. When my mom comes back, she'll cook for you." 0
Wang Liang glanced at the sheep's head meat; it glistened with grease. I couldn't help but swallow hard, wanting to devour it, but my aunt didn't let me eat. Wang Liang held the plate in one hand and stuffed pieces of sheep's head meat into his mouth with the other. 0
He ate quickly; soon enough, he polished off the entire plate of sheep's head meat. 0
My aunt smiled and asked, "Is this sheep's head meat tasty?" 0
Wang Liang nodded and said, "It tastes good. Is there more? Our daughter wants to eat some too." 0
As he said this, he patted his stomach with his hand. 0
My aunt laughed out loud, her eyes squinting into slits as she said, "Xiao Liang, there's no more sheep's head meat left. We have some sheep's offal; I'll get that for you." 0
My aunt's boyfriend comes from a well-off family. She has always wanted to get a marriage certificate with Wang Liang but has not succeeded yet. 0
Wang Liang shook his head and said, "Our daughter doesn't like sheep's offal; she just wants to eat sheep's head meat." 0

My aunt furrowed her brow, looking a bit troubled. "It's a festive occasion, and every family is having lamb head meat. I really have no way to get it." 0

As soon as my aunt finished speaking, Wang Liang's expression changed, his face darkening. "You have sheep in the east room, and you tell me you can't get lamb head meat?" 0

My aunt explained, "The sheep in the east room are all lambs; they can't be slaughtered yet." 0

Wang Liang replied, "What can't be slaughtered? They're all sheep." 0

After saying that, Wang Liang turned and walked toward the west room, muttering, "What a terrible place. I'm going back to the city tomorrow." 0

Hearing this, my aunt panicked and rushed in front of Wang Liang. "Don't go! It's just a lamb, right? I'll slaughter it; is that okay?" 0

A smile appeared on Wang Liang's face as he said, "I want to choose the lamb myself." 0

With a grin, he walked into the east room and pointed at a spotted lamb. "This one will do; who told it to be a spotted lamb, different from the others?" 0

My aunt agreed, "Alright, we'll slaughter this one." 0

She reached out to grab the spotted lamb, which let out a piercing cry and scrambled around in the small box. However, my aunt managed to catch it. 0

Holding the spotted lamb, she headed to the yard, with Wang Liang following her. 0

My aunt instructed, "Xiao Qi, go to the storage room and bring me a kitchen knife." 0

I said, "Auntie, this lamb is too small; can we really slaughter it?" 0

My aunt frowned; she seemed hesitant. 0

Seeing her uncertainty, Wang Liang grew displeased. He patted his belly and said irritably, "Daughter, your mother won't even let you have a bite of meat. Maybe we should just leave." 0

Upon hearing this from Wang Liang, my aunt's expression changed immediately. She took the lamb into the storage room. 0

Soon after, a tragic cry came from the lamb. 0

My aunt had slaughtered it and tossed its head and body into a pot to boil. 0

Wang Liang's face broke into a smile as he even kissed my aunt on the cheek. 0

My aunt then said, "Xiao Qi, go get some dry firewood from the storage room." 0

Just as she finished speaking, our yard door was pushed open; my grandfather and grandmother had returned. 0

My grandmother's belly was still quite large; she looked much older than before. 0

My aunt asked, "Mom, why is your belly so big?" 0

My grandmother furrowed her brows and didn’t respond, walking straight into the house, with my grandfather following her inside. 0

As soon as she entered, her voice echoed from within: "Where is that little spotted goat?" 0

My grandmother came back out, her face filled with panic. 0
