I saw three members of the Demon Skull Team nodding at us as a greeting. Their friendliness represented the whole team (since I am the captain), so I walked over and said, "Hello, I am Xiang Jie, the captain of the Three Musketeers Team. It's great to play and exchange skills with you." The three of them smiled, and the one in front responded, "Hello, I am Lu Qiu, the captain of the Demon Skull Team." "I am Qi Hui, a Center," said one of the players. "I am Wufengyun, a Point Guard," said the other player. Their captain is a forward; I remember that most captains are Point Guards.
Just then, A Fei and Ouyang walked over. I quickly introduced them, "Oh, this is our forward Ouyang Shangqiang, and this taller one is our Center Yu Chengfei." Then I turned to A Fei and Ouyang and said, "This is Lu Qiu, the captain of the Demon Skull Team; that’s Qi Hui; and this is Wufengyun." A Fei and Ouyang smiled and nodded as they shook hands with them. Suddenly, a shout rang out, "Three Musketeers, victory guaranteed!" Shuai Dong and Pang Hao marched over holding a banner that read in slanted letters: Three Musketeers Must Win! I couldn't help but chuckle at how seriously they were holding it up. I turned to look at Ouyang and A Fei; they were both covering their mouths with their hands, laughing uncontrollably.
"Hey, you three, can you be a bit more serious? This is for your support; I spent a lot of effort making it," Shuai Dong said somewhat unhappily. I quickly stepped forward and said, "No, no! Thank you for your hard work! Friends' group, please take your positions!" As I gestured towards the bench on the sidelines, Shuai Dong formally turned left and marched proudly to the bench. Just as they sat down, our second wave of supporters arrived—Xia Ying and Sha Xiaomei came in with sun umbrellas. "Oh! You two sisters! Don’t you girls love sunbathing? Why are you using umbrellas?" I teased them. Sha Xiaomei made a face at me: "I forgot to put on sunscreen today! No way! Dead Jack, did you take A Fei out drinking last night? Hmph! He called me late at night saying all sorts of nonsense. You can't let him drink again, got it?"
"No way, Sha Xiaomei! Are you mistaken? It wasn't me who made your A Fei drink; he insisted on having two bottles himself! If I told him not to drink, he wouldn't be happy!" I quickly defended myself when Shuai Dong and Pang Hao walked over. "Drinking? Why didn’t you call us? Don’t treat us like friends!" Shuai Dong glared at me. I hurriedly helped them sit down: "No, it was someone else's treat..." Just then our third wave of supporters arrived—Situ Jianfei, Zhao Bin, and Situ Yanan walked over. "Brother Jie! I've missed you so much!" Situ Yanan exclaimed as she ran towards me. Suddenly I felt a sense of fear; I wanted to dodge but felt embarrassed. What should I do... Just as she was about to pounce on me, someone hugged me first.
Xia Ying stopped right in front of me and hugged me tightly. Then she said to me, "Jie, make sure to play well later; don’t get distracted. I support you; you're the best." Seeing Situ Yanan's expression made me feel like she was about to explode with anger. Shuai Dong quickly chimed in: "Yanan, it's okay; big brother Shuai Dong will hug you anytime." He closed his eyes and opened his arms wide. "Hmph!" Situ Yanan turned around and sat on the bench sulking while Shuai Dong hurried over to her. I heard Situ Yanan point at Shuai Dong: "Shi Zhidong! I'm warning you; you're not allowed to sit on this bench! Did you hear me? I'm annoyed..."
Zhao Bin and Situ Jianfei came over to encourage us to play well while they cheered for us from the sidelines. I turned my head to look at our vibrant audience section and then glanced at the sparse cheering squad of the Demon Skull Team with only two people there; my heart felt quite pleased. With the referee's whistle signaling the start of the game, just as he was about to toss the coin, I walked over to him and asked him to throw it accurately this time; otherwise finding a coin would be too troublesome. The referee shot me a glare before tossing the coin into the air—it landed heads up; we had possession.
I noticed that we had been quite lucky lately; almost every time we tossed for possession it ended up being ours—and we won every time too. The goddess of luck was smiling upon us.
After we gained possession, I held the ball and began organizing our offense. Wufengyun came over to defend me as I used my Lingbo Microstep to shake him off before taking a mid-range jump shot that went in. This was my signature scoring method—dribbling past someone followed by a mid-range step back shot. After their possession ended with Wufengyun bringing the ball up to the arc before passing it directly to Lu Qiu who scored easily to tie up the game. After scoring, Lu Qiu turned back and smiled at me as if saying: “Friend, I'm not that bad; just wait and see.”
After we regained possession again, I passed the ball directly to Ouyang who jumped from zero degrees for a three-pointer that went in! We were up 5-0—our sharpshooter Ouyang Shangqiang was our secret weapon!
After their possession ended with Wufengyun bringing the ball to the free-throw line before passing it back quickly to Lu Qiu who started his jump shot—I rushed up to interfere but Wufengyun's shot was blocked so he had no choice but to pass it behind him to Qi Hui. Unfortunately due to unclear sightlines there was a turnover—the ball hit my arm and rolled onto the floor where A Fei picked it up and passed it outside the three-point line to Ouyang at a 45-degree angle who jumped again for another shot—8 points! We had completed an incredible start that left Demon Skull Team dazed! If we continued playing like this we could start thinking about who our opponent would be in the semifinals!
