A pitch-black cave appeared before Mo Wen. The red light from the large cave behind him streamed through the entrance, casting his elongated shadow onto the opposite stone wall. He bent down at the cave's mouth, picked up a stone, and threw it into the darkness. A few minutes later, the sound of the stone striking the cave walls finally quieted down. Judging by the echoes, the cave likely extended downward; the stone might have reached the bottom or perhaps got stuck somewhere along the way. Thus, he couldn't determine the depth of the cave from the sounds alone.
He did not enter the cave immediately but turned to leave instead. Xiao Hei was still asleep above, and he decided to check on Xiao Hei first. The storm in the underground world had completely dissipated, and rarely did anyone venture as deep into the Sea of Lava as he did. However, after the storm, opportunities within the Lava Sea had been washed outwards, leading to an increase in people seeking these chances. Among them were those who pursued deeper exploration. According to Elder Zhu, many who entered the Lava Sea after the storm returned after four or five years; some from powerful factions had been gone even longer, sometimes up to ten years. Mo Wen, however, had only been here for about a year and a half, which meant there was a high chance of encountering others. Recently, he had felt a strange sense of urgency within him. Initially, he thought it was due to spending too much time in this dark underground world, but upon further reflection, he realized that wasn't it. Loneliness had accompanied him for so long; how could he feel restless because of it?
At that moment, there were no barriers of spiritual power in the large cave anymore. Mo Wen worried that someone might discover its existence; such a large cave would surely attract attention if found. People would think there were opportunities inside and would try to explore it, significantly increasing the chances of him and Xiao Hei being discovered. Currently, Xiao Hei was in a weak state, and Mo Wen feared he would only be able to flee if they were found. After circling around the island on his Xing Zhou and confirming that his senses still couldn't penetrate the thick rock walls to find any caves within the mountain, he felt slightly relieved. However, he needed to act quickly.
After spending several more days in the Cave tinkering with various items and packing them away, it was time to explore the new cave.
Looking at what lay before him, Mo Wen's eyes glowed red with excitement; his breathing became rapid as drool dripped from his mouth. He wiped his greasy sleeve across his lips and prepared to reach for it. Just as his hand was about to touch that object, he froze and his expression darkened as if he had been constipated for ten years.
"Uh... it seems I have no way to deal with you," he realized that he hadn’t prepared any containers for such items. Although excited, he hadn’t lost his rationality. According to what he had learned from ancient texts, this item was difficult to store; it would gradually dissipate over time until it completely vanished. Powerful factions would create special containers for such items and store them in carefully constructed sealed spaces. Since he hadn’t budgeted for this kind of acquisition when entering the Lava Sea, what lay before him now felt troublesome. He seemed left with only two options: either use it on-site or give up entirely. Giving up was certainly not an option; as for using it... it didn’t seem like the right time yet.
"I refuse to believe I can't collect you!" He rolled up his sleeves and sat down on the ground to rummage through his belongings. One item after another was pulled out for inspection before being put back again.
