The width of the abyss far exceeded Xuan Yang's expectations.
The moment he leaped, he realized he had made a fatal mistake.
This abyss was at least twenty meters wide!
For an ordinary person, a distance of twenty meters was like an insurmountable chasm.
His body traced an arc in the air before plummeting rapidly downward.
The wind howled past his ears, and the bottom of the abyss was shrouded in darkness, like the gaping maw of a monstrous beast ready to devour them whole.
"Ah!" Qu Si Yang let out a terrified scream, clinging tightly to Xuan Yang, her body trembling uncontrollably.
Xuan Yang cursed inwardly, "Damn it, this is bad!"
This sudden turn of events caught him off guard; he had thought that with his abilities, he could easily leap across the chasm. He never imagined that its width would far exceed his imagination.
In this critical moment, Xuan Yang's Shadow Puppet suddenly appeared, transforming into a dark silhouette that clung to the stone wall of the abyss.
The Shadow Puppet's sharp claws dug into the rock face, barely slowing their descent.
But this was only a temporary solution; the Shadow Puppet's strength was limited and could not support their combined weight for long.
"Si Yang, hold on to me!" Xuan Yang shouted, his voice echoing in the vastness of the abyss.
Qu Si Yang clung tightly to Xuan Yang as if trying to merge her body with his. Her face was pale, her lips quivering, but she couldn't utter a single word.
She could sense Xuan Yang's tension and anxiety, aware that they were on the brink of life and death.
Xuan Yang took a deep breath, a glint of determination flashing in his eyes.
He knew that this was not the time to panic; he had to calm down and find a way to escape the perilous situation.
He channeled all the power within him into the Shadow Puppet, which let out a low, rumbling roar as if responding to its master's call.
Its body swelled, strength surging as its arms became as solid as steel, gripping the protrusions on the stone wall tightly as it began to climb upward, inch by inch.
At the bottom of the abyss, gusts of chilling wind swept through, carrying with them a nauseating stench of decay.
It felt as though something terrifying lurked below, eyeing them—two unwitting prey who had stumbled into forbidden territory.
beads of sweat formed on Xuan Yang's forehead, trickling down his cheeks and dripping onto the stone wall.
His arms ached unbearably, feeling as heavy as lead, yet he gritted his teeth and persevered.
He knew he could not give up; he had to survive alongside Qu Si Yang!
Just then, several figures appeared at the edge of the abyss.
They were the other Trialists who had entered the trial grounds with them earlier.
Standing above, they looked down at Xuan Yang and Qu Si Yang struggling to climb, their faces twisted in expressions of schadenfreude.
"Look at those two fools; they think they can jump across the abyss. How deluded!" sneered a burly Trialist, his voice dripping with disdain and contempt.
"Deserve it! Let them die, so they won't be a burden!" another Trialist echoed, a hint of malice in their tone.
"Puppet Heart is ours!" a cold voice rang out, filled with greed and desire.
Xuan Yang's heart sank; he never expected these people would stand by and watch, even adding insult to injury.
These individuals had completely lost their humanity for the sake of profit.
"You bunch of bastards!" Qu Si Yang shouted angrily, her voice brimming with rage and disappointment.
She couldn't believe how despicable these people were. In their moment of crisis, not only did they refuse to lend a hand, but they also chose to strike down their own.
"Hmph, little girl, you should worry about yourself!" the Burly Tester sneered. "Once you're dead, Puppet Heart will belong to us!"
With that, they began to attack Xuan Yang and Qu Si Yang.
Various abilities rained down upon them like a storm—flames, hail, wind blades... a dazzling array of colors, yet each carried a deadly intent.
Xuan Yang's gaze turned icy in an instant. He couldn't believe how vile these people were; for the sake of Puppet Heart, they were willing to turn against their own comrades.
"Since you seek death, don't blame me for being merciless!" Xuan Yang said coldly, his voice echoing like it came from the depths of Nine Nether Hell, carrying an endless chill.
He placed Qu Si Yang on a slightly elevated rock for relative safety.
Then he activated Reverse Control, sending those attacks back at their originators.
"Ah!"
"What is happening?"
"Why did my attack bounce back?"
The Trialists cried out in terror, not expecting that Xuan Yang had such a trick up his sleeve. Caught off guard, they were struck by their own attacks.
In an instant, the air was filled with screams and wails, echoing throughout the abyss.
The burly Trialist was scorched by his own flames, letting out a scream akin to a slaughtered pig.
The cold-hearted Trialist was battered by his own hail, blood streaming from his head as he rolled on the ground.
Others were also injured by their own assaults, collapsing and moaning in agony, creating a scene of chaos.
Taking advantage of the moment, Xuan Yang led Qu Si Yang to continue climbing upward.
He knew that now was not the time to engage with these people; they needed to leave this place as quickly as possible.
"Xuan Yang, watch out!" Qu Si Yang suddenly exclaimed.
A blade of wind sliced through the air from the side, heading straight for Xuan Yang's neck.
Xuan Yang reacted swiftly, leaning aside just in time to narrowly avoid the wind blade.
However, his arm was grazed by the blade, blood instantly gushing forth.
"Damn it!" Xuan Yang cursed under his breath; he hadn't anticipated that these opponents would be so troublesome.
“Xuan Yang, I'm here to help you!” Qu Si Yang said.
She clasped her hands together and began to chant softly. A fiery red light emanated from her, forming a Flame Barrier that enveloped both of them.
The attacks struck the Flame Barrier, bouncing off harmlessly, unable to inflict any damage.
“This is... the Flame Barrier?” Xuan Yang looked at Qu Si Yang in surprise.
He hadn’t expected that Qu Si Yang possessed such an ability.
“Yes, it’s one of my abilities,” Qu Si Yang nodded and replied. “It can withstand most attacks.”
“Great job!” Xuan Yang exclaimed. With this Flame Barrier, their safety was assured.
They continued to climb upward, their pace significantly faster than before.
Finally, after a strenuous effort, they reached the other side of the abyss.
“We did it!” Qu Si Yang said excitedly, her face lighting up with the joy of having survived.
Xuan Yang nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over him.
The journey had been fraught with danger; they had nearly met their end here.
He glanced at the wound on his arm. The bleeding had stopped, but the pain still throbbed from the injury.
“Si Yang, are you okay?” Xuan Yang asked with concern.
"I’m fine," Qu Si Yang shook his head and said, "I just need to rest a bit after all that exertion."
"Alright, let's find a safe place to rest," Xuan Yang replied.
Just then, a chilling voice suddenly echoed, "Do you really think it's over?"
A figure dressed in black and wearing a mask appeared before them.
He moved with an ethereal grace, like a ghost, silently materializing in front of them.
It was none other than the leader of the Shadow Force, Shadow.
"Shadow!" Xuan Yang and Qu Si Yang exclaimed in unison, their eyes filled with wariness.
They never expected Shadow to show up here.
"Puppet Heart is mine!" Shadow said coldly, revealing a black dagger in his hand.
The dagger gleamed with a sinister light, clearly not an ordinary weapon.
A fierce battle was about to erupt!
