"Just eat by yourself, stop calling me," Xiong Sumei said with a frown, her tone sharp as she spoke to Jiang Chen. She didn’t want to drag him into her troubles and had no expectation that he could help her.
"Come here!" Jiang Chen replied again, his voice carrying an undeniable authority that brooked no refusal.
Xiong Sumei was taken aback; she truly felt helpless against Jiang Chen.
"This kid is really annoying. Someone make him shut up," Jin Shengkai said irritably to his two bodyguards.
"Not good, Jiang Chen, we need to leave quickly," Xiong Sumei said anxiously upon seeing the situation. After all, Jiang Chen was helping her and getting hurt for her sake, which left her feeling uneasy.
However, Jiang Chen did not heed Xiong Sumei's words and remained seated, continuing to eat with his chopsticks.
Jin Shengkai's two bodyguards were both martial artists who had entered the Inner Energy stage, their strength formidable. They were furious that a young man like Jiang Chen dared to act so brazenly in front of them after witnessing their power, and they intended to teach him a lesson.
Yet, just as they approached Jiang Chen, they suddenly stopped in their tracks. Looking down, they found that a pair of chopsticks had been driven into their right feet like iron nails, pinning them to the ground.
"Hiss!"
Both men involuntarily gasped in pain. When they looked at Jiang Chen again, the chopsticks in his hand had vanished.
"This kid is also a Martial Artist," one of them realized immediately.
The others around Xiong Sumei hadn’t seen Jiang Chen make a move or noticed the chopsticks embedded in the bodyguards' feet. They only saw the two men rushing toward Jiang Chen aggressively before suddenly halting, which was quite puzzling.
"Why are you standing there? Go teach that kid a lesson," Jin Shengkai asked curiously, as the ordinary onlookers couldn’t comprehend what had just happened.
" Master Jin, that kid is a master," one of the bodyguards said with lingering fear. If Jiang Chen had wanted to kill them just now, those chopsticks would have pierced their throats instead of their feet.
Upon hearing this, Jin Shengkai's expression grew serious; he was well aware of his bodyguards' capabilities.
He hurried over and saw that blood had already soaked through the shoes of both men where the chopsticks were embedded.
Jin Shengkai's face darkened as he turned his gaze back to the calm and composed Jiang Chen.
"Young man, you’d best not interfere in my business with them," Jin Shengkai said in a grim tone.
"Miss Xiong, come eat," Jiang Chen ignored Jin Shengkai and once again invited Xiong Sumei over.
Snapping out of her daze, Xiong Sumei rushed over and sat down in the chair opposite Jiang Chen. It dawned on her why those two bodyguards had suddenly stopped moving.
Her eyes widened in astonishment as she looked at Jiang Chen; she suddenly regarded him with newfound respect. She hadn’t expected him to be such a master; no wonder he had such impressive physical abilities and could withstand the cold of December on the Tibet Plateau while dressed so lightly.
Jin Shengkai gritted his teeth in anger; he couldn’t believe that Jiang Chen was ignoring him.
But he did not dare to step forward. After all, Jiang Chen had just picked up a new pair of chopsticks, and he certainly did not want to be pinned to the ground by them.
"Youth, let's keep our waters separate. This Miss Xiong damaged my antique, and compensation is only fair. You cannot be unreasonable," Jin Shengkai said, suppressing his anger and speaking gently.
"I don't like to be disturbed while I'm eating, and I don't wish to repeat myself," Jiang Chen's voice remained calm and steady as he spoke.
