“What should we do now, Qian Wenwu?” Xiong Sumei asked anxiously.
“I... I don’t know. Why don’t you just compensate him first?” Without bodyguards and with his background proving ineffective, Qian Wenwu felt like a coward.
“I don’t have that much money on me right now,” Xiong Sumei replied helplessly.
“Call your dad and have him transfer the money,” Qian Wenwu suggested.
“Right, right! Brother Wu is right. Xiong Sumei, just pay them first; otherwise, we’ll be in trouble tonight,” Li Chengdu added.
“Sumei, it’s not that we don’t want to help you; we really can’t do anything here. This isn’t Tianfu City after all. Just pay the money to avert disaster, and we can settle things when we get back,” Chen Shuifeng said softly.
The sudden shift in the situation caught Xiong Sumei off guard, and now her friends seemed unreliable.
“Fine, I’ll call my dad for the money, but he’s definitely going to scold me again,” Xiong Sumei said resignedly. A million was something her father could manage; however, giving away that amount would surely earn her a reprimand. Moreover, Xiong Sumei felt a sense of injustice in her heart.

Jin Shengkai turned to look at Jiang Chen and, seeing just a young man, immediately lost interest.
"This kid, could he be trying to be a hero and save the damsel in distress? Xiong Sumei, it seems he really has taken a liking to you. For your sake, he's willing to risk his life. Now he's even bold enough to stand up; quite the audacity," Qian Wenwu said with a chuckle.
