Manager Zhang furrowed his brows and looked at me.
"Xiao Zhou, what’s going on?"
I took out my phone, remaining calm.
"Manager, here’s the situation."
"First of all, Brother Xi has been harassing me with false information for a long time, disrupting my work. Here is some evidence and source tracking."
I displayed the contents of the email attachments.
"Secondly, the claim made by Brother Xi that I am interfering with his work is completely unfounded. In fact, Brother Xi previously..."
I shifted my tone.
"Maliciously tampered with my property listings, mixed false information into my files, and repeatedly deleted my client data from the system... All these actions are recorded by the IT department, and I have kept the previous operation logs."
"Also, regarding Brother Xi being investigated by the Inspection Department for allegedly 'Taking private orders,' I’m sure you’ve heard about that as well."
I laid out each issue along with evidence (or indirect evidence) like a string of candied haws.
Brother Xi's face changed from black to purple, then from purple to white.
He wanted to refute me but found that everything I said was about his own misdeeds, leaving him momentarily speechless.
After listening, Manager Zhang's expression also darkened.
He glanced at Brother Xi and then at me before tapping on the table.
"Alright! Let’s all keep it down!"
"Old Consultant Gu! Don’t think your little tricks go unnoticed! This incident of information harassment is clearly your fault! If it happens again, I will report it directly to HR!"
He issued a warning to Brother Xi.
Brother Xi didn’t dare to say a word, standing there with his head down.
"Xiao Zhou, pay attention to your methods. We need to be united as colleagues."
Manager Zhang once again gave me a vague warning.
I nodded, indicating that I understood.
After handling the matter, I stepped out of the office.
As I passed by Brother Xi, I leaned in and whispered in a tone only he could hear, "Brother Xi, it seems I still have some 'interesting' records of your other operations. I wonder... should I share them with everyone?"
Brother Xi suddenly looked up at me, his eyes filled with fear and disbelief.
I smiled slightly at him, said nothing more, and walked away.
Let him guess, the fool.
After being warned by Manager Zhang and frightened by my last remark, Brother Xi indeed kept a low profile for a while.
He walked around with his tail between his legs, even sticking close to the walls.
But knowing him as I do, there was no way he would let it go this easily.
Sure enough, it wasn't long before I discovered that a small client I had been working with for over half a year had suddenly been snatched away by him.
The client privately told me that Brother Xi somehow got his contact information and approached him directly, promising a higher discount while falsely claiming that I had already left the company.
I checked the system records and saw that he had changed the client's source to "friend referral."
Ha, his tactics are still so low.
Going through all this trouble for such a small deal.
His ambitions are so limited, brother.
However, this also reminded me.
When dealing with such people, I couldn't just wait for them to make a move before counterattacking.
It was time to take the initiative and dig a big pit for him.
A pit so deep that he wouldn't be able to climb out.
I began to ponder the idea of "fishing for evidence."
A few days later, during a casual afternoon tea chat in the department, I "accidentally" brought it up.
"Ah, I've recently come across a major client. Their strength is truly impressive; they have a budget of several million and don’t even blink."
"But their demands are a bit strange. They insist on a top-floor duplex project that has already been discontinued and hinted at offering a hefty 'consultation fee.'"
"I mean, this is quite risky. I'm a bit hesitant to take it on."
I spoke with a conflicted expression, my voice neither too loud nor too soft, just right for Brother Xi, who was eavesdropping, to hear.
Sure enough, out of the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of Brother Xi's eyes lighting up instantly.
