As Lin Wan's fingertips brushed against the cold body in the anatomy class, the pungent smell of formaldehyde had yet to fully invade her nostrils when an overwhelming wave of dizziness swept over her like a surging tide. When she regained consciousness, she found herself staring at the draped curtains of a carved canopy bed, the air filled with a faint scent of sandalwood. This unfamiliar environment jolted her awake, making her realize she might have encountered some supernatural event—she had crossed over to another world. 0

"Miss, you’re finally awake! You’ve been unconscious for three days; I was so worried!" The maid Chun Tao entered with a bowl of medicine, her eyes red and filled with concern. Lin Wan propped herself up, and as her gaze inadvertently swept across a bronze mirror, she saw a young woman with delicate features staring back at her. However, there was a hint of sorrow in her brows that was clearly not her original appearance. Chun Tao continued to chatter, "Old Madam said today is the flower appreciation banquet at the Jing'an Marquis Mansion. You must make an appearance no matter what..." 0

Lin Wan rubbed her forehead, struggling to sort through the flood of memories in her mind. The original owner of this body was Su Wanyin, the daughter of the Prefect of Yangzhou, who had been promised to the legitimate son of the Jing'an Marquis Mansion since childhood. However, upon reaching marriageable age, she was diagnosed with a heart condition and gradually fell out of favor with the Marquisate. Now, she was further schemed against by her stepmother Li and had fallen into a conspiracy during the flower appreciation banquet. 0

The banquet was set by the Fuqu Pool in the Jing'an Marquisate. Lin Wan donned a light purple skirt and slowly entered the garden with Chun Tao's support. The area was vibrant with blooming flowers; guests were either composing poetry or enjoying tea amidst the lively atmosphere. However, as soon as she sat down on a stone bench, she noticed a shadow flitting behind a nearby rockery. Her instincts told her something was amiss; she instinctively stood up to avoid it when an arrow suddenly shot through the air, aimed directly at her face. 0

In that critical moment, a figure rushed past like a gust of wind and pushed her aside. The arrow grazed her temple and struck into a nearby tree trunk, its fletching still quivering slightly. Lin Wan's heart raced as she looked up at her savior—a man clad in dark attire with a finely crafted long sword at his waist. His expression was as cold as frost, yet his eyes held a glimmer of concern. 0

"Thank you for saving my life," Lin Wan said, bowing slightly, her voice trembling. The man nodded slightly and replied in a deep voice, "Be careful." Just then, startled gasps erupted around them as splashes erupted from Fuqu Pool; a group of men in black emerged from the water wielding sharp blades and charged toward the guests. 0

Chaos ensued instantly. Chun Tao pulled Lin Wan behind the rockery as her heart raced like a drum. Peering through the cracks in the stones, she saw the man in black wielding his sword fiercely amidst the crowd, striking down enemies with lethal precision. However, outnumbered by the attackers, he was gradually forced toward the edge of Fuqu Pool. A sudden thought struck Lin Wan—perhaps her medical training could be of help. 0

She scanned her surroundings and spotted a patch of bamboo not far away. An idea sparked; she tore off a piece of silk from her waist and dipped it in muddy water from the pool to write "Beware of your left" on it before throwing it towards the man in black at just the right moment. He caught it with surprise and quickly turned around to stab an attacker sneaking up from his left. 0

After the battle concluded, guards from Jing'an Marquisate arrived just in time to regain control of the situation. Lin Wan then learned that her rescuer was none other than Gu Chengyu, the Northern General personally appointed by His Majesty. He had been invited to attend the flower appreciation banquet but had unexpectedly become embroiled in this assassination plot. Gu Chengyu approached Lin Wan again and bowed slightly in gratitude: "Thank you for your warning, Miss Su; otherwise I would have suffered greatly today." 0
