Leonard stood on the elevated platform, holding a Goblet filled with Blood Wine in hand, wearing a formulaic smile that resembled that of a benevolent Father.
“Dear guests, today is my son Lucius's joyous day…” His booming voice echoed throughout the hall, each word dripping with insincerity and pretense.
Aelia sat below the platform, elegantly raising her glass and taking a delicate sip.
She wore a composed smile that seemed to blend into the celebratory ambiance, yet only she knew how bitter that smile truly was.
As she watched Leonard speak confidently on stage, her heart surged with tumultuous emotions.
This man had once been the most important person in her life, but now he had become the deepest wound in her heart.
She recalled the secrets Luna had shared with her, remembered Leonard's affairs outside their marriage, and his indifference towards her and their children. A wave of indescribable sorrow washed over her.
She gripped her glass tightly, her knuckles turning white as if trying to swallow all the bitterness contained within it.
Suddenly, the lights in the hall dimmed, and a brilliant beam of light illuminated the center of the room.
Eldest Brother slowly stepped forward, his leg, which had once been disabled due to the Magic Backlash, miraculously restored to normal.
He raised his hands and began to chant, a powerful Magical Energy swirling around him.
The magical light grew increasingly brilliant, ultimately erupting into a dazzling beam that shot straight into the sky.
"Wow!" The hall erupted with gasps of astonishment as the guests were awestruck by this miraculous scene.
They whispered among themselves, speculating on how Eldest Brother had lifted the curse of the Magic Backlash.
Aelia watched her brother.
This seemingly fragile little girl possessed incredible Magical Talent and wisdom.
Not far away, Second Brother was quietly conversing with his close friend.
The misunderstandings and barriers of the past melted away in that moment.
A relieved smile spread across Second Brother's face, as if he had shed a heavy burden from his heart.
He had finally emerged from the Magic Dilemma and rediscovered himself.
Brother San stood among the crowd, his gaze fixed resolutely on Eldest Brother casting his magic.
Once, he had neglected his training due to Talent Misguidance, but now he had finally come to Awareness of his Error.
He silently made up his mind to start anew, to diligently practice magic, and no longer let down his talent and his family's expectations.
Aelia set down her wine glass and gently stroked Luna's soft hair.
The Little One was curiously looking around, her big, dark eyes filled with innocence and playfulness.
"Luna, you truly are my little lucky star," Aelia said softly.
At that moment, a figure caught Luna's attention.
She turned her head towards the door and saw Lucius walking toward them.
Dressed in a splendid suit, he was handsome and charming, like a prince from a fairy tale.
Luna's eyes lit up; she wriggled free from Aelia's embrace and scampered towards Lucius with her little legs.
"Brother Lucius!" she called out sweetly.
Lucius looked at the approaching Luna, a gentle smile spreading across his face.
He bent down and picked Luna up in his arms.
"Luna, did you have fun today?" he asked softly.
Luna nodded, her small hands tightly hugging Lucius's neck.
"Happy!"
Aelia watched the scene before her, feeling a surge of emotions.
Luna's arrival not only changed the Destiny of their family but also brought new vitality and hope to the gloomy Magic Castle.
"Luna, shall we go over there for some snacks?" Lucius asked, holding Luna as they headed towards the dessert area.
Luna happily agreed.
"Okay!"
Aelia watched their departing figures, suddenly overwhelmed by a sense of foreboding.
She couldn't shake the feeling that something was about to happen...
"Madam, is something wrong?" Qin Si asked with concern.
Aelia shook her head, trying to maintain her composure.
"It's nothing, I just..." She paused for a moment before continuing, "I just feel that Luna seems a bit different today."
Qin Si followed Aelia's gaze and saw Luna circling around Lucius, her little nose twitching as if she were searching for something.
"Madam, are you overthinking it?" Qin Si said with a smile. "The Young Miss is just being playful."
Aelia remained silent, her gaze fixed intently on Luna.
She felt that Luna's behavior was somewhat strange, as if she were probing for some secret...
“Qin Si,” Aelia suddenly spoke up, “don’t you think that Lucius has a magical aura about him that seems...”
Before she could finish her sentence, Luna exclaimed, “Wow! So much candy!”
Luna’s little nose sniffed like a puppy, her bright eyes sparkling with curiosity.
“Brother Lucius, what’s that smell on you?” she asked in a baby voice, playfully tugging at Lucius's hem.
Lucius smiled awkwardly and bent down to pick Luna up. “It’s the smell of new clothes. Do you like it, Luna?” He tried to mask his nervousness, but Luna keenly sensed a hint of tension in his tone.
“No,” Luna shook her little head vigorously like a rattle. “It’s the smell of magic! It’s different from Second Brother and Brother San!” Her small hand reached curiously toward the magical emblem on Lucius's chest, which was subtly emanating an imperceptible magical fluctuation.
Luna's touch made Lucius's heart tighten. He instinctively took a step back, and the light from the magical emblem flickered as if it might burst forth at any moment.
“Luna, don’t touch that!” His tone was slightly stern, which made Luna pout in disappointment.
Meanwhile, in a corner of the banquet hall, Qin Si was huddled together with several maidservants, whispering excitedly.
“Have you heard? The lady already knows about the Lord of the Fortress!” Qin Si's voice was low but filled with barely contained excitement.
“Really?” a young maid gasped, covering her mouth. “What does the lady plan to do?”
“Who knows,” Qin Si said, feigning mystery as she shrugged. “But I think the Lord of the Fortress is in for some tough times!” As soon as she finished speaking, the surrounding maids erupted into suppressed laughter, as if they were eagerly anticipating a good show.
Meanwhile, Luna and Lucius had arrived at the dessert area, where an array of colorful candies instantly captivated Luna's attention.
“Wow! So much candy!” she exclaimed excitedly, her little hands reaching eagerly for the vibrant sweets.
“Luna, don’t eat too much; be careful of your teeth,” Lucius gently reminded her. But Luna paid no heed; she grabbed a handful of candy and stuffed it into her mouth, her cheeks puffing out like a little hamster.
“I want to eat! I want to eat!” Luna mumbled through her mouthful, her small hands continuously shoving more candy into Lucius's hands. “Brother Lucius should eat too!”
Lucius smiled helplessly and took a piece of candy just to appease her.
However, Luna seemed to have discovered a new treasure. She snatched the candy from Lucius's hand and then grabbed another handful to shove into her mouth. “Mine! All mine!”
“Luna! You’re being too greedy!” Lucius pretended to be angry as he reached for the candy in Luna's hand, and they began to chase each other playfully around the dessert area.
Their commotion grew louder, drawing the attention of several guests.
Even Leonard, standing on the high platform, frowned and glanced disapprovingly in their direction.
Yet, lost in their candy-snatching fun, Luna and Lucius remained oblivious to the surrounding gazes, continuing to enjoy themselves thoroughly.
Finally, Lucius managed to catch Luna. He gently pinched her little nose and said, “Alright, stop it now. Eating too much candy will give you a toothache.”
Luna pouted defiantly, "I'm not afraid of a toothache!" She wriggled free from Lucius's embrace and dashed behind a massive pillar, secretly stuffing the remaining candies into her mouth. Then, she strutted out proudly, "Look! I finished them all!"
Lucius watched Luna's puffed cheeks and shook his head helplessly, his heart brimming with affection.
As night fell, the banquet at Magic Castle was drawing to a close.
Guests began to leave one after another, and the hall gradually returned to tranquility.
Aelia gazed at Luna's sleeping face, filled with tenderness.
"Qin Si," Aelia called softly, "go check on Luna and tuck her in."
"Yes, my lady," Qin Si replied respectfully before turning to head toward Luna's room.
However, just then, a piercing cry shattered the night's silence...
"Waaahhh..."
Aelia sprang to her feet, her expression changing dramatically. "Luna!"
A heart-wrenching wail echoed from Luna's room, slicing through the stillness of Magic Castle like a sharp knife.
The cry was sharp and sorrowful, filled with deep grievance and pain, instantly waking everyone from their slumber.
Aelia was the first to rush in. She found Luna's small face flushed, tears streaming down like broken pearls. The little girl clutched her cheeks tightly, her body curled up in a ball as she trembled uncontrollably.
“Luna! What’s wrong?!” Aelia exclaimed anxiously as she pulled Luna into her arms, her voice filled with concern.
Immediately following her, Leonard, along with their elder brother, Second Brother, Brother San, and even the servants who were tidying up the aftermath rushed in upon hearing the commotion, filling the room to capacity.
Worry was etched on everyone’s faces as they clamored to ask what had happened, creating a chaotic scene.
“What’s going on? What happened?” Leonard asked, frowning slightly, his tone tinged with impatience.
“It seems Luna is in distress…” Brother San said worriedly.
“Is she sick?” Second Brother also asked anxiously.
Luna’s cries showed no signs of diminishing; instead, they intensified as she intermittently wailed, “It hurts… my tooth hurts…”
“Toothache?” The group exchanged bewildered glances, caught off guard by this sudden revelation.
Aelia gently pried open Luna’s small hand, and a strong scent of sweetness wafted up to her. It was then that she noticed some remnants of candy stuck at the corner of Luna's mouth.
“This child must have snuck some candy at night!” Aelia said, both exasperated and amused, her tone laced with a hint of helplessness.
At that moment, the usually silent elder brother suddenly spoke up. “Madam, I remember Luna mentioning before that she knows some… special things.” His tone was significant as he gazed deeply at the still-crying Luna, as if he had uncovered some hidden truth.
He paused for a moment and lowered his voice to speak only to Aelia. “Perhaps this toothache is not so simple…”
