“Qin Si……” Aelia's voice trembled, like a tightly stretched string, ready to snap at any moment.
The candlelight danced across her face, revealing her complex emotions—unease, confusion, and above all, an overwhelming sense of disbelief.
Qin Si took a deep breath, her hands tightly twisted together, knuckles turning white.
She knew that what she was about to say would be like a sharp blade, piercing deeply into Lady Aelia's heart. But she had to speak; for the lady's sake, for the Glorious Demon Fortress, she had to unveil this cruel truth.
“Madam, there is something… I must tell you.” Her voice was low and barely audible as she struggled to find the words.
Aelia furrowed her brow slightly; Qin Si's hesitance filled her with an ominous premonition.
“What is it? Just say it.”
“Master… he…” Qin Si bit her lips, summoning her courage. “He has… taken Leonard's Concubine.” The words exploded in the chamber like thunder, leaving Aelia momentarily blinded, nearly toppling from her chair.
“What did you say?!” Aelia sprang to her feet, her voice sharp as if someone had grasped her throat.
“This is impossible! Leonard… how could he do such a thing?!” She could hardly believe her ears. After years of marriage, she thought they shared a loving and respectful bond. How could he betray her?
“Madam, I know this is hard to accept, but it is absolutely true!” Qin Si explained urgently, pulling out a stack of letters and a witness testimony from her sleeve. Her hands trembled as she handed them to Aelia.
“These are the evidence. I saw it with my own eyes and heard it with my own ears. I would never deceive you!”
Aelia snatched the letters from her grasp, quickly scanning the words on the pages. Each line felt like a needle piercing her eyes and heart.
The affectionate words in the letters made her feel nauseous and suffocated.
The tiny inscriptions were unmistakably Leonard's handwriting, yet those sweet names and tender promises had never been spoken to her.
The witness testimony detailed Leonard's interactions with that concubine—dates, locations, people involved—even describing the concubine's appearance and preferences in vivid detail.
Aelia's hands shook more violently now; the letterhead rustled like leaves swept away by an autumn wind, echoing her despair.
She felt as though her world was collapsing around her; the happiness she had painstakingly built over the years was nothing but an illusory dream.
She staggered back a few steps and collapsed into a chair, her gaze vacant as if she had lost her soul.
The love she once took pride in, the trust she had firmly believed in, crumbled at this moment, shattering into powder.
“It’s impossible… impossible…” Aelia murmured to herself, tears silently streaming down her face like pearls that had broken free from their string, each one splattering onto the letterhead and spreading dark water stains.
She clutched the letterhead tightly, her knuckles turning white, Ailya's white nails nearly embedding themselves into her flesh.
“Leonard… how could you… treat me this way…” Aelia’s voice was hoarse, filled with deep despair and indignation.
She lifted her head, looking at Qin Si through tear-filled eyes. “Why? Why did he do this? What did I do wrong?”
Qin Si looked at Aelia with a pained expression, gently wrapping her arms around Aelia's thin shoulders, offering silent comfort.
She knew that at this moment, any words would be pale; only companionship could provide true solace.
The chamber was enveloped in silence, with only Aelia's suppressed sobs echoing in the air like a sharp knife, slicing through everyone’s hearts.
The candlelight flickered, illuminating Aelia's desperate face as well as Qin Si's anxious expression.
“Madam…” Qin Si softly called out, breaking the silence.
“You must take care of yourself…”
Aelia suddenly lifted her head. “I want revenge!” she said through gritted teeth, her voice cold enough to send chills down one’s spine.
“I will make Leonard pay!” She grasped Qin Si's hand with an astonishing strength.
“Qin Si, help me… help me…”
Qin Si looked into Aelia's eyes, where burning anger resided, and nodded firmly.
“Madam, I will definitely help you!”
The atmosphere in the inner chamber suddenly grew tense, a chilling aura spreading, signaling that a storm was about to descend.
"I will ruin him, I will make him lose everything!" Aelia's voice was filled with hatred, as if it were a curse emanating from hell.
"Madam..." Qin Si was about to speak when he suddenly heard faint footsteps at the door.
"Who?!" Aelia asked warily.
"Who?!" Aelia repeated, her vigilance heightened.
The footsteps outside paused for a moment, then a slightly childish voice rang out, "Mother, it's me, Lucius."
It was Leonard's Third Son, Lucius.
Aelia and Qin Si exchanged glances, both sensing a hint of tension in each other's eyes.
What was Lucius doing here at this hour?
"Come in," Aelia quickly adjusted her emotions, trying to make her voice sound calm.
Lucius pushed the door open and entered. Upon seeing the tear stains at the corners of Aelia's eyes, he paused for a moment.
"Mother, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" he asked with concern, his gaze sweeping across the room as if searching for something.
Aelia sneered inwardly; her husband had betrayed her, and this son might still be oblivious to it all.
"I'm fine, just a bit tired," she replied lightly. "What brings you here so late?"
Lucius scratched his head awkwardly and said, "Well, Mother. I'm going hunting in the Black Forest with some friends tomorrow and wanted to ask if there's anything you need me to bring back."
The Black Forest?
Hunting?
Aelia felt a spark of inspiration as a thought crossed her mind.
Perhaps this is an opportunity...
“The Black Forest is fraught with danger; you should be cautious,” Aelia said earnestly. “As for what needs to be brought back... let me think...” She deliberately elongated her words, her gaze landing on Luna, who was standing nearby.
Luna was quietly sitting on Aelia's lap, her big eyes curiously observing Lucius.
Upon hearing Aelia mention her, she immediately understood what Aelia meant.
“Mother, look at how adorable Sister Luna is. Why not have Brother San bring back some rare flowers from the Black Forest to make a crown for Sister Luna? What do you think?” Luna said in a baby voice, her tone innocent and pure, as if she were just a simple little girl.
Lucius perked up at once.
“Great idea! I’ll get ready right away and make sure to bring back the most beautiful flowers for Sister Luna!” he exclaimed cheerfully, completely oblivious to the subtle exchange of glances between Aelia and Luna.
“Go ahead, and be careful on your way,” Aelia said gently.
Once Lucius left, the palace returned to silence.
Aelia looked at Luna. “Thank you, Luna.”
Luna shook her head and replied in her tender voice, “Mother, you don’t need to thank me; we are family.”
Aelia felt warmth in her heart and hugged Luna tightly.
Yes, they were family, and they would face all difficulties together.
“Qin Si, what do you think of Lucius?” Aelia suddenly asked.
Qin Si was taken aback for a moment, seemingly not expecting Aelia to ask that question.
“Third Young Master Lucius... he has a straightforward personality, but he’s not bad at heart; he just has some quirks.”
Aelia nodded. She knew that Lucius was not a bad person; he was simply spoiled by Leonard and somewhat naive about the world.
"Perhaps we can make use of him..." she whispered.
"Madam, are you suggesting..." Qin Si hesitated, not fully understanding Aelia's meaning.
"Lucius listens to Leonard without question. If we can convince him that Leonard is innocent, he might investigate Leonard's Concubine..." Aelia explained. "This way, we can gather more evidence and also make Leonard let his guard down."
Qin Si grasped Aelia's plan and couldn't help but admire her calmness and decisiveness.
"Madam, you are truly brilliant! I will arrange for Lucius to be completely convinced of the master’s innocence!"
Aelia nodded. "I want Leonard to know what the cost of betraying me is!"
Luna quietly listened from the side, deep in thought.
Although Aelia's plan was good, it wasn't perfect.
Leonard had his Concubine outside and would surely be on guard; it wouldn't be easy to obtain evidence.
She needed to come up with a way to help Aelia and the family out of this predicament.
Luna's mind raced as plans began to emerge in her thoughts.
She knew she bore a significant responsibility and could not let Aelia down.
She had to change the family's destiny and ensure that everyone lived a happy life!
"Mother, I have an idea..." Luna lifted her head and looked at Aelia.
Aelia gazed at Luna, filled with hope.
She believed that this seemingly fragile girl possessed the power to change everything.
"Luna, go ahead, Mother is listening," Aelia said gently.
Qin Si looked at Luna with curiosity, eager to know what this extraordinary infant would suggest next.
The atmosphere in the chamber grew tense again, all eyes focused on Luna, hoping she would bring new hope.
Aelia took a deep breath as she gazed at Luna.
"Luna, speak up; Mother will support you," Aelia reiterated, her voice soft yet resolute.
Luna nodded, determined to make Leonard pay for his betrayal!
She looked at Aelia and slowly said, "Mother, we..."
Her voice was barely above a whisper, audible only to Aelia and Qin Si.
Her expression was serious and determined, as if revealing a world-shattering secret.
Aelia and Qin Si held their breath, listening intently to Luna's plan.
Their expressions grew increasingly serious and resolute.
"Is that... really possible?" Aelia asked hesitantly.
Luna nodded. "Trust me, Mother, we can definitely succeed!"
Aelia looked at Luna, her heart filled with emotion.
She knew she had found someone she could rely on, someone who could help change Destiny.
"Alright, let's do it!" Aelia declared firmly. "Qin Si, you go prepare..."
Aelia, Luna, and Qin Si began discussing specific strategies to respond to the situation, their expressions serious and resolute as if they were engaged in a battle that would determine Destiny.
The candlelight in the palace flickered, illuminating their resolute faces and the impending storm over the Glorious Demon Fortress.
Luna looked at Aelia.
Qin Si stood nearby, comforting Aelia, promising to always be by her side, supporting and helping her.
Aelia took a deep breath.
She wanted Leonard to know that she was not a woman to be bullied at will!
She would seek justice for herself and her family!
“Qin Si, do as I say…” Aelia's voice was filled with strength, like a phoenix reborn from the ashes.
Qin Si nodded and immediately went to prepare what Aelia needed.
Only Aelia and Luna remained in the palace, quietly gazing at each other.
“Mother, everything will be alright,” Luna said softly.
Aelia nodded and tightly embraced Luna.
“Yes, everything will be alright.”
Their expressions were serious yet determined, as if they could already see the dawn of victory.
Aelia took a deep breath and began discussing the next plan with Luna.
“Luna, where do you think we should start?” Aelia asked.
Luna pondered for a moment before slowly replying, “Mother, I think we should…”
Luna looked at Aelia, her eyes sparkling with wisdom as if she could already envision the future of the Magic Castle.
Aelia listened intently to Luna's advice, her expression growing more serious and resolute.
Their conversation continued for a long time, until the night deepened and only the flickering of candlelight remained in the chamber.
Finally, Aelia took a deep breath and made her decision.
"Alright, let's do it your way!" Aelia said firmly.
Luna nodded in agreement.
"Mother,"
Aelia looked at Luna, her heart filled with gratitude.
She knew she had found someone she could rely on, someone who could help change their destiny together.
“Thank you, Luna,” Aelia said once more.
Luna shook her head gently.
“Mother, we are family.”
Aelia nodded and embraced Luna tightly.
Their expressions were serious yet determined, as if they were ready to face the storm that was about to come.
“Qin Si, bring that here…” Aelia suddenly said.
Qin Si quickly retrieved a delicate Rosewood Box, intricately carved with complex Magic Runes, clearly not an ordinary item.
Aelia carefully opened the box, revealing an Emerald Ring that lay quietly inside, adorned with a gem that shimmered with a faint glow.
“What is this…” Luna asked curiously, sensing the powerful Magical Energy contained within the ring.
“This is our Magic Castle's Heirloom, known as the ‘Jade Eye,’ which possesses the ability to see through illusions and discern the truth,” Aelia explained, her gaze fixed on the ring as if she were recalling something.
“This ring might help us uncover Leonard's true nature.”
She paused, lifted her head, and looked at Luna with determination. “Luna, who do you think we should start investigating first?”
Luna smiled slightly and leaned closer to Aelia, whispering softly in her ear. As Aelia listened, her furrowed brow gradually relaxed, and a look of appreciation appeared in her eyes.
“Alright, let’s do it!” Aelia nodded, slipping the Jade Eye onto her finger. A surge of powerful Magical Energy instantly flowed into her body, bringing her a sense of exhilaration.
She stood up and walked to the window, gazing out at the brightly lit Magic Castle in the distance, her heart filled with anticipation.
She would make Leonard understand who the true master of this Magic Castle was!
Suddenly, a gentle breeze swept through, extinguishing the candles in the chamber and plunging the room into darkness.
Both Aelia and Luna felt a twinge of unease.
“Mother, be careful…” Luna whispered.
Aelia tightened her grip on Luna’s hand, her sharp gaze scanning the surroundings as if searching for something in the dark.
“Who’s there?” Aelia asked coldly, her voice laced with authority.
In the darkness, a faint sigh was heard, followed by a deep voice that spoke:
“Madam, are you truly going to do this? Is it worth it…?”
