The Legend of the Immortals Prequel: Wilderness Journey
This took the five members of the Azure Cloud Sect by surprise. Ten Thousand Swords in One couldn't help but chuckle, but he didn't pursue them; instead, he turned back and smiled at the others behind him, saying, "Brothers, these Demonic Cult Monsters are indeed ruthless and wicked, but they do possess some skill. It would be a good opportunity for training. I wonder if you could go and capture a few?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Azure Pine, who was standing next to him, smiled slightly, cupped his hands in respect to Ten Thousand Swords in One, and then flew out first to chase after them. The target he chose was Bai Duzai, the strongest among the three from the demonic cult, clearly indicating that Azure Pine was also an ambitious individual.
Ten Thousand Swords in One nodded with a smile, clearly appreciating Azure Pine. Soon after, three figures simultaneously dashed out; evidently, the younger brothers from the Azure Cloud Sect who had come with him were all spirited and unwilling to back down from one another as they hurriedly pursued.
However, there were only three Demonic Cult Monsters, while four disciples from the Azure Cloud Sect were chasing them, creating a feeling of too many monks for too little porridge.
Azure Pine was the fastest, so no one contested him for Bai Duzai. Following him were Tian Buyi, Zeng Shuchang, and Shang Zhengliang. Tian Buyi was honest and straightforward; after rushing out, he intentionally or unintentionally scraped his foot against the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust before heading toward the direction where the Vampire Demon had fled.
Zeng Shuchang and Shang Zhengliang nearly choked on dust as they hurriedly dodged. However, this brief delay allowed Tian Buyi to run quite far ahead.
The two exchanged glances and immediately summoned their swords, charging fiercely toward the last fleeing figure, Duanmu Tie.

Ten Thousand Swords in One glanced at the figures racing away, appearing completely unconcerned about his fellow disciples confronting the notorious Demonic Cult Monsters. Instead, he turned around to find a stone, brushed off the dust, and leisurely sat down.
The figures in those three directions quickly disappeared into the distance. After a while, they became somewhat blurry. Soon after, sounds of fighting and angry shouts echoed back, accompanied by flashes of sword light from afar—quite a lively scene.
Ten Thousand Swords in One simply grew tired of watching those figures and instead looked up calmly, his expression serene as his gaze flickered slightly as if pondering something. About a cup of tea's worth of time later, some movement caught his attention. He turned to see that the first to return was Azure Pine.
He flew back swiftly, holding someone in his hand. Upon reaching Ten Thousand Swords in One, he casually tossed the person onto the ground—it was none other than Bai Duzai.
However, at this moment, Bai Duzai had lost all his previous ferocity; his expression was weak and particularly alarming due to a grievous wound on his chest—a deep cut that slashed diagonally from his left shoulder to his right side—bloodied and clearly gravely injured.
Ten Thousand Swords in One glanced at Bai Duzai without changing color and nodded at Azure Pine, smiling as he said, “Junior Brother Cang Song, your skills have improved; congratulations.”
Although Azure Pine usually displayed arrogance toward most of his peers, he showed great respect for Ten Thousand Swords in One. Hearing this praise seemed to make him particularly happy as he replied with a smile, “Thanks to Brother Wan's guidance on ordinary days, I have achieved what I have today.”
Ten Thousand Swords in One laughed casually and waved his hand dismissively. “That's not true. A person's cultivation ultimately depends on themselves. You are indeed an outstanding figure within our Azure Cloud Sect, destined for greatness in the future.”
Azure Pine shook his head. Although he still appeared pleased, he spoke earnestly: “With you here in the Azure Cloud Sect, Brother Wan, I have no place to speak. In the future, I will follow Brother Wan closely and strive to promote our Azure Cloud Sect.”
Ten Thousand Swords in One laughed heartily and stood up to pat him on the shoulder. “That's the spirit!”
Azure Pine nodded and smiled. At that moment, they heard another sound. The two turned around to see Zeng Shuchang and Shang Zhengliang returning side by side. As they got closer, it became clear that Duanmu Tie had also been captured by them and was thrown directly beside Bai Duzai.
Looking at Duanmu Tie, who was originally a strong and imposing man, he now appeared disheveled and dirty. Although he did not have severe injuries like Bai Duzai, his chest, back, and face were covered in bruises from being kicked and punched, as if he had just been beaten down.
At this moment, lying on the ground with bared teeth, he still looked somewhat unconvinced and grunted angrily, "You guys are shameless for ganging up on me. If you have the guts, let's fight one-on-one... Ouch!"
Before he could finish speaking, he curled up, holding his head as Zeng Shuchang, youthful and impulsive, jumped over and delivered a fierce blow to his head. Duanmu Tie cried out in pain, then stood up and spat, sneering, "See? You can't even beat me in a one-on-one!"
Duanmu Tie: "..."
Ten Thousand Swords in One watched this scene from the side, shaking his head with a smile. He then looked at Shang Zhengliang, smiling as he asked, "Shang Junior Brother, did you run into any trouble?"
Shang Zhengliang quickly cupped his hands and replied, "In response to Wan Shixiong, there is no trouble. Although this guy looks big and fierce, he is actually a coward and not our opponent." After a pause, he seemed to puff out his chest and added to Ten Thousand Swords in One, "Actually, I believe that even if Senior Brother Zeng hadn't come along, I could have captured him by myself."
Before Ten Thousand Swords in One could respond, Zeng Shuchang darted over as if he had heard the wind. He shook his head repeatedly and said, "No, no! Wan Shixiong, listen to me. That battle just now was indeed too easy. I acted just a bit faster than Shang Junior Brother and used only seventy percent of my strength before this guy went down; it was really..."
"Nonsense!" shouted Shang Zhengliang, standing nearby. "I clearly struck first and kicked his leg to make him kneel; how did it become you who struck first?"
Zeng Shuchang scoffed and said, "Shang Junior Brother, that's where you're wrong. Against such a scoundrel like him, you used your protective sword while I was barehanded; of course I couldn't strike as fast as you. But I hit him more times than you did with your sword; surely that counts for something?"
Shang Zhengliang's face turned red with anger as he pointed at Zeng Shuchang, saying furiously, "You... you're just making excuses..."
"Enough." Ten Thousand Swords in One interrupted the two with a laugh. "What's there to argue about? The important thing is that you've captured him. However, it's impressive that both of you managed to subdue a Demonic Cult Monster in such a short time; it seems I didn't misjudge you."
Zeng Shuchang and Shang Zhengliang exchanged glances and snorted before turning their faces away from each other. They then simultaneously thanked Ten Thousand Swords in One, saying, "Thank you for your praise, Senior Brother."
Ten Thousand Swords in One waved his hand dismissively and smiled again. "But you two should learn more from Azure Pine. He managed to chase down Bai Duzai even faster than both of you."
Upon hearing this from Ten Thousand Swords in One, Azure Pine instinctively straightened his back. His expression appeared calm, but the radiance on his face and the brightness in his eyes revealed how pleased he was inside.
Up until this point, everything had gone smoothly. However, as they waited further, the area suddenly fell silent. After standing for a while, they realized that the last of the five—an undersized chubby companion—had not yet appeared.

Ten Thousand Swords in One raised an eyebrow and glanced toward the direction where Tian Buyi had gone. He noticed that both Tian Buyi and the Vampire Demon from the demonic cult had vanished without a trace; it seemed they had run far away. Meanwhile, beside him, Azure Pine, Shang Zhengliang, and Zeng Shuchang quickly sensed that something was amiss and all looked over in that direction.
After a while longer without any sign of return from anyone, Zeng Shuchang, who usually got along best with Tian Buyi, began to feel anxious. He peered over curiously several times before finally saying impatiently, "Should I go take a look?"
A cold snort came from the side, and Azure Pine frowned slightly, saying, “Tian Shidi, how could you not catch that guy? You should know that his most powerful treasure, Blood Skull, has already been destroyed by Wan Shixiong.”
Shang Zhengliang's expression shifted slightly, but after glancing at Ten Thousand Swords in One, he did not speak.
However, Zeng Shuchang was unwilling to let it go and immediately retorted, “What's so strange about this? The Demonic Cult Monster is unpredictable, and that bloodsucking guy is even weirder. He might have pulled out some hidden life-saving tricks; it's troublesome, but not surprising.”
Azure Pine smiled but did not respond to Zeng Shuchang's comments. However, the slight mocking smile on his face clearly indicated that he did not believe Zeng Shuchang's assumption.
The group waited and waited, and before they knew it, half an hour had passed, yet Tian Buyi still had not appeared. This made even Ten Thousand Swords in One frown, while Zeng Shuchang was already anxious, pacing back and forth and occasionally glancing in that direction.
Just as everyone was losing patience, a figure suddenly appeared in the distance from that direction. Short and plump, it was indeed Tian Buyi. He walked over, and as he got closer, they saw that he looked normal but was dragging a foot with his right hand.
Everyone was stunned for a moment and looked down to see that the foot Tian Buyi was holding belonged to the Vampire Demon. However, this person had long lost his fierce demeanor and now resembled a dead dog being dragged back by Tian Buyi, his eyes rolled back and frothing at the mouth, appearing utterly exhausted and unconscious.
Zeng Shuchang exclaimed in shock, “What... what happened?”
Tian Buyi approached them, flicked his right hand to throw the Vampire Demon onto the ground next to Duanmu Tie and Bai Duzai, then bowed slightly to Ten Thousand Swords in One, apologizing, “Wan Shixiong, I’m really sorry for being late.”
