Qin Si watched Leonard's resolute figure retreating, her heart sinking.
At this moment, the lady was so vulnerable; if the Lord of the Fortress simply walked away, the consequences would be unimaginable.
She took a deep breath and hurried to catch up with him, blocking his path.
“Lord of the Fortress, please wait.”
Leonard abruptly halted and turned around. “What is it?”
Qin Si slightly bent her knee. “The lady requests that you go to the secret chamber for a discussion.”
“The secret chamber?” Leonard's brow furrowed, an inexplicable sense of unease rising within him.
That chamber was where generations of Lords dealt with family secrets—gloomy and humid, filled with an air of mystery.
Why did Aelia want him to go there at this time?
He had a vague feeling that something was about to happen.
After hesitating for a moment, he finally nodded.
“Lead the way.” He wanted to see what Aelia had to say to him.
Qin Si felt a bit relieved but dared not let her guard down.
She called over a few reliable guards and whispered, “You will stand watch outside the secret chamber. No one is to approach without my orders.” She was worried about the lady losing control of her emotions and also concerned that the Lord of the Fortress might act impulsively.
After everything was arranged, Qin Si held Luna and followed Leonard to the secret chamber.
The chamber was located underground in the Magic Castle, with its entrance hidden behind a massive tapestry.
As the heavy stone door slowly creaked open, a chill and humid air rushed out, mingled with a faint moldy smell and dust, making it hard to breathe.
Leonard lit the torches on the walls, and the dim yellow light flickered against the mottled stone walls, casting distorted shadows that added an eerie atmosphere.
Aelia had been waiting there, standing quietly in the center of the chamber. Dressed in a pure white starry gown, she appeared especially pale in the dim light, resembling a ghost.
Her complexion was also unusually pale, her lips tightly pressed together.
Leonard looked at her, and his sense of unease grew stronger.
He opened his mouth but didn’t know what to say.
"You've come," Aelia's voice was hoarse and deep, as if it had emerged from the depths of hell.
Leonard swallowed hard. "What do you want from me?"
Just then, a rustling sound came from the corner, and a black magic mouse darted out of the darkness, charging straight at Aelia!
"Ah!" Qin Si exclaimed, her wand in hand instantly glowing with light. A brilliant beam shot forth, striking the magic mouse and sending it flying.
The magic mouse let out a sharp cry as it slammed against the wall before quickly disappearing back into the shadows.
That cry was unlike any ordinary mouse squeak; it sounded more like some eerie spell echoing through the chamber, sending chills down their spines.
“Damn it!” Aelia's face changed dramatically as she clenched her fists tightly, her White Nails nearly digging into her flesh.
“Again with these despicable tactics! Leonard, how long are you going to keep pretending?!” She glared at Leonard, her eyes burning with fury.
The sudden turn of events left Leonard stunned.
He looked at Aelia, then glanced at the Magic Mouse that had vanished into the darkness, filled with confusion.
This Magic Mouse was clearly being controlled by Dark Magic, so why did Aelia think it was him?
Just as he was about to explain, he saw the Magic Mouse darting out of the shadows again, and this time, its target was… Luna!
Qin Si gasped, wanting to intervene, but it was already too late.
Luna stood there, her small figure frozen in place as if she were paralyzed with fear.
The Magic Mouse drew closer, ready to pounce on Luna…
Suddenly, Luna extended her tiny hand and waved gently.
A nearly invisible wave of energy flashed by, and the Magic Mouse instantly turned to Ashes, disappearing without a trace.
A faint burnt smell lingered in the air.
Aelia was stunned.
Qin Si was also taken aback.
Leonard's eyes widened in disbelief as he watched everything unfold before him.
Luna... how could this be...
"Mom," Luna's tender voice broke the silence in the chamber, "it said..."
In the dimly lit room, the air seemed to freeze, and time stood still at that moment.
A faint smell of burning lingered in the air as Luna's small figure stood there, her eyes glimmering with a barely noticeable determination.
Aelia was stunned, and so was Qin Si. She looked at Luna, her gaze filled with shock and awe.
"Mom," Luna's gentle voice pierced through the stillness again, "it said..." Though her words were soft, they carried an undeniable conviction.
Aelia's heart raced as she tightly grasped Luna's hand, fearing the loss of this unexpected comfort.
She gazed at Luna, tears shimmering in her eyes, but she held back from letting them fall.
Leonard continued to stare in disbelief at everything happening around him.
He felt a wave of coldness rising from his feet to the top of his head.
Could this little infant truly be his daughter?
She possessed such immense magical power; it was beyond anything he could have imagined.
"What... what is happening?" Leonard's voice trembled slightly as he glanced back and forth between Aelia and Luna.
Aelia took a deep breath to steady her emotions and then quietly looked at Leonard, her eyes burning with anger.
"What exactly do you want to say?" Leonard's voice carried a hint of impatience, yet his hands involuntarily clenched.
"How long are you going to keep pretending?" Aelia's voice was low and resolute, as if her gaze could pierce through Leonard.
"Your betrayal, your Concubine, do you really think I don't know?"
Leonard was taken aback, his expression darkening significantly.
He forced himself to calm down, a cold smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
"You're talking nonsense," he said coldly. "I just went out to relax for a bit; don’t take it so seriously."
Aelia's expression suddenly hardened, her grip on Luna's hand tightening as if seeking strength.
"Relax?!" Her voice sliced through the air in the chamber like a sharp blade.
"Leonard, do you really think I would believe such nonsense? I am your wife, the master of Glorious Demon Fortress; I know every move you make."
Leonard felt a wave of coldness wash over him as he finally became aware that Aelia was not the ignorant and weak person he had imagined.
He appeared somewhat flustered.
"Aelia, let me explain," he pleaded, his tone tinged with desperation. "I didn't mean it; it was just a momentary..."
"A momentary what?" Aelia interrupted him, her voice icy and resolute.
“An ephemeral romance? A fleeting betrayal? Leonard, you truly have a knack for storytelling. But you seem to forget that I am not a fool.”
Just as Leonard was about to continue his defense, Luna suddenly extended her hand and softly recited a spell.
A beam of azure light shot from her fingertip, striking a tapestry on the wall of the secret chamber.
The tapestry instantly turned to ashes, revealing a dark compartment behind it, which contained a yellowed letter.
“Mom, that letter reveals his secret.” Though Luna's voice was youthful, it carried an undeniable firmness.
Aelia's heart skipped a beat as she quickly approached and picked up the letter, her fingers trembling slightly.
She unfolded the letterhead and saw written in bold letters the conspiracy between Leonard and his mistress, detailing everything and proving his betrayal.
Aelia's hands trembled even more violently as she lifted her gaze, her eyes sharp as blades, locking onto Leonard.
“What do you have to say for yourself?” Her voice was as cold as ice, yet laced with an unstoppable fury and resentment.
Leonard's face turned pale in an instant, his eyes filled with terror and disbelief.
His Adam's apple bobbed, but he couldn't utter a single word.
He felt a sharp pain in his chest, as if an invisible hand were gripping him tightly.
“This... this is impossible!” he finally rasped, trembling all over, despair etched across his face.
At that moment, Luna's smile softened as she gently said, “Mom, I have already found the truth for you.”
Aelia looked at Luna, tightly embracing her as if trying to hold the entire world within her arms.
"Thank you, Luna," Aelia's voice was filled with deep gratitude, a tremendous strength surging within her, as if nothing could ever bring her down again.
Leonard felt an unprecedented fear wash over him, his knees trembling slightly.
He lifted his head to look at Aelia.
"Aelia, this is not what you think..." His words were laced with helplessness, his voice barely above a whisper.
Aelia let out a cold laugh, her gaze resolute and unwavering.
"I will not believe any of your lies," her voice was icy and firm. "You have betrayed me, betrayed the Glorious Demon Fortress. I will expose everything and make you pay the price."
Leonard's face turned even paler as he clenched his jaw tightly. Suddenly, he stepped forward, fists clenched, his eyes filled with menace.
"Do you think I will just surrender like this?" His voice was low and dangerous. "I won't let you succeed!"
Aelia was not intimidated by Leonard's threat; she sneered coldly.
"You have already lost this game, Leonard," her voice was steadfast and ruthless. "Your betrayal has destroyed everything you once had."
At that moment, Luna extended her hand once more, a gentle light emanating from her fingertip that enveloped the entire chamber.
This light seemed to dispel all shadows, bringing an overwhelming sense of peace and warmth.
Leonard's heart was filled with despair, yet he could no longer utter a single word.
“Mother,” Luna's voice rang out again, filled with warmth and determination. “Everything will be alright.”
Aelia looked at Luna, taking a deep breath, her heart brimming with an unprecedented resolve.
Leonard stood frozen in place, his face as pale as paper, trembling all over as if he had suddenly lost all his strength.
In that moment, the chamber was enveloped in a suffocating silence, as if everyone was waiting for something.
“Qin Si,” Aelia's voice suddenly broke the stillness, “take this letter to those who support us and let them know the truth.”
Qin Si quickly responded, taking the letter with eyes full of determination and resolve.
