"Pitiful?" Leonard felt those two words pierce his heart like poisoned arrows.
The secret he had painstakingly concealed was now being exposed in such a humiliating manner by a mere child. It was an utter disgrace!
He shot up, glaring at Luna with a fierce intensity, as if he could tear her apart with just his gaze.
But when he met Luna's clear, innocent eyes, it was as if the air had been let out of a balloon; he instantly lost all his strength.
Damn it!
How could he possibly argue with a child?
"Luna, children shouldn't speak nonsense," Leonard tried to assert authority to mask his panic, but his voice trembled uncontrollably.
Luna tilted her head, blinking innocently. "I’m not making it up! That lady said so herself. She said Uncle Leonard is the best and buys her lots and lots of beautiful dresses and jewelry!" She mimicked the lady's delicate tone as she spoke.
"Enough!" Aelia suddenly erupted, cutting off Luna's words with a sharp cry.
She stood up abruptly, her face pale as paper, her body swaying like a delicate flower battered by a storm.
She fixed her gaze on Leonard, her eyes filled with intensity.
"Leonard, is it true?" Her voice trembled uncontrollably, as if she had used every ounce of strength to utter that question.
Leonard looked at Aelia, a wave of intense fear washing over him.
He knew it was all over.
He opened his mouth to defend himself but found that he had no words to say.
Luna's words, though innocent, cut through his hypocritical facade like a sharp scalpel, exposing his ugly heart to the light of day.
He closed his eyes in despair, like a defeated rooster, all pride and confidence vanished.
“Aelia, I…” he struggled to speak, unsure of what to say.
An apology?
An explanation?
Or a defense?
No matter what he said, it could not mend the shattered marriage.
Aelia did not give him a chance.
Suddenly, she laughed, her laughter sharp and desperate, like a wounded beast letting out its final cry.
“Hahaha…” Tears streamed down her face as she laughed, her makeup ruined and looking utterly disheveled.
“I’ve been such a fool!” she choked out. “I actually believed you for all these years; I thought you truly loved me!” Her voice grew louder, nearly a scream.
Leonard looked at Aelia, his heart filled with guilt and pain.
He knew he had hurt her, had hurt the woman who once loved him deeply.
“Aelia, I’m sorry…” he murmured, his voice barely audible.
“Sorry?” Aelia suddenly stopped laughing.
“Can a single ‘I’m sorry’ make up for the pain I’ve endured? Can a single ‘I’m sorry’ erase your betrayal?” She advanced on Leonard, her tone as cold as steel.
“Do you remember?” she suddenly softened her voice, asking quietly, “Do you remember when we first met? At that grand ball, you wore a white gown like a noble princess, while I was just an unnoticed Little Mage.”
“Do you remember?” Her voice grew more choked with emotion. “Do you remember the vows we made on our wedding day? In wealth or in poverty, in health or in sickness, we promised to love each other forever, never to part.”
“But what about now?” She raised her voice sharply. “What have you done? You betrayed our love, you betrayed our vows, you trampled my sincerity underfoot!” She pounded her fists against Leonard’s chest in anger. “You liar! You scoundrel!”
Leonard stood there like a statue, allowing Aelia to strike him without moving.
He knew he deserved every bit of this. He had no right to defend himself.
The hall fell silent, everyone stunned by Aelia’s sorrow and fury.
They watched the once-loving couple with hearts full of regret and sympathy.
Who could have imagined that their once-sweet love would turn into this?
Among the crowd, the eldest brother, Second Brother, and Brother San wore grim expressions.
They were both angry at their father’s betrayal and worried about the future of Magic Castle.
Their father was the pillar of Magic Castle; if he fell, what kind of crisis would they face?
They exchanged glances, each seeing the worry reflected in the other’s eyes.
Qin Si looked at Aelia with compassion, wanting to step forward to comfort her but unsure of what to say.
All she could do was stand quietly by her side and offer a handkerchief.
Aelia took the handkerchief, wiped her tears, and took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down.
She raised her head, her gaze steady as she looked at Leonard, speaking each word with conviction. “Leonard, from today onwards, I will not believe a single word you say. Our marriage ends here.”
With that, she turned and walked away, her back resolute and proud.
Leonard watched Aelia's departing figure, his heart filled with despair.
He knew he had completely lost her.
“Madam, where are you going?” Qin Si hurried after her, concern etched on his face.
Aelia paused, glancing back at Qin Si.
“Qin Si, prepare for me. I need to go…” Aelia hesitated, not revealing her destination. Instead, she looked up into the distance, her eyes becoming deep and determined. “I need to go to a place where I can start anew.”
The dazzling Crystal Chandelier cast blinding light, illuminating every expression in the hall with stark clarity.
The air was thick with a stifling atmosphere, as if it were the calm before a storm, making it hard to breathe.
Lucius stood in the corner, his hands tightly clenched into fists, knuckles turning white.
His handsome face was clouded with gloom, and complex emotions swirled in his deep blue eyes.
The father he had always respected turned out to be such a hypocritical charlatan!
This completely shattered his long-held beliefs.
He took a deep breath, striving to quell the anger and disappointment within him.
Father's actions not only hurt Mother but also brought shame to the entire Magic Castle.
Yet he knew that this was not the time to indulge in sadness and anger.
As a member of the Magic Castle, he had the responsibility and obligation to protect this home.
"Mother..." Lucius approached Aelia, softly calling her name, his tone filled with concern.
Aelia turned her head and saw the worry in her son's eyes, a warm current surged within her.
She forced a smile and gently stroked Lucius's Luna, "Don't worry, dear. Mother is fine."
"Mother, no matter what happens, I will support you," Lucius said firmly, his gaze filled with strength. "I will stand by you and my Brothers to get through this."
Aelia nodded appreciatively, gripping Lucius's hand tightly.
In that moment, she felt the warmth and support of her family, filling her heart with strength.
Leonard slowly walked into the hall and caught sight of the cold gazes from everyone, a hint of discomfort flashed across his face.
He cleared his throat, trying to salvage the situation. "Aelia, things are not as you think... let me explain..."
"Explain?" Aelia scoffed, interrupting him. "What is there to explain? Are you going to tell me that that 'aunt' is just a distant relative and that the dress and jewelry you bought for her were merely for charity?"
Leonard's face grew even more grim.
He opened his mouth to argue but found himself at a loss for words.
Luna's words pierced through all his lies and facades like a sharp sword.
“I…” Leonard's voice dropped, sounding weak and uncertain. “I admit, I made an error. But I promise, I still love you, Aelia. That woman, it was just a fleeting affair…”
“A fleeting affair?” The eldest brother scoffed, stepping forward with his staff in hand. “Father, have you turned the glory of Magic Castle and Mother’s sincerity into mere tools for your whims?”
The Second Brother joined him, his expression dark. “Father, you have disappointed us greatly. We have always respected and trusted you, yet you repay us in this manner!”
Brother San remained silent but looked at Leonard with disappointment in his eyes.
He had always regarded Father as his role model, but now that image had completely shattered.
Leonard gazed at his three sons, filled with guilt and unease.
He knew he had lost their trust and respect.
“I…” Leonard's voice trembled. “I truly understand my mistake. I promise this will never happen again. Please, give me one more chance…”
“A chance?” Aelia shook her head. “From the moment you betrayed me, our fate was sealed.”
The hall fell into silence, only Leonard's desperate breaths echoed in the emptiness.
He watched Aelia’s resolute figure retreating, knowing he had lost her for good.
He sank into a chair, feeling as if he had aged a decade.
The tranquility of Magic Castle had been utterly shattered.
News swept through Magic Castle like a hurricane; both servants and Mages were gossiping about the Lord’s disgraceful actions.
Some were shocked, others outraged, some felt pity, but most were concerned about the future of Magic Castle.
"Never would I have thought that Lord could be such a person!"
"Indeed, he always appears so righteous, yet behind the scenes, he engages in such despicable acts!"
"This will surely throw Magic Castle into chaos! With Lady of the Fortress being so strong-willed, she definitely won't let this go easily!"
"Alas, the three young masters are unfortunate to have such a Father!"
Various voices of discussion filled every corner of Magic Castle.
An atmosphere of unease and anxiety spread throughout.
Luna sat quietly in the Cradle, listening to the commotion outside, her small face reflecting a thoughtful expression.
She knew this was just the beginning.
Leonard's betrayal was merely the spark that ignited the crisis in Magic Castle.
More challenges and difficulties awaited them ahead.
How could she help her family change their Destiny? How could she protect this precarious Magic Castle?
A determined light flickered in Luna's big eyes.
She understood that she bore a heavy responsibility.
For her family, for Magic Castle, she must do everything in her power to overcome all obstacles.
As night fell, Magic Castle was shrouded in shadows.
The noise gradually subsided, but an unsettling atmosphere still lingered in the air.
Luna lay in the Cradle, struggling to fall asleep.
She tossed and turned, her mind racing with a myriad of thoughts.
Suddenly, she felt a strong Magical Fluctuation.
The wave seemed to emanate from a corner of the Magic Castle.
Luna's curiosity was piqued.
She struggled to climb out of the Cradle and unsteadily made her way toward the source of the Magical Fluctuation.
She traversed the long corridor and arrived at a room filled with old items.
The room was thick with the scent of dust, and the dim light made it feel particularly eerie.
Luna cautiously stepped into the room, glancing around.
She noticed that the Magical Fluctuation seemed to be coming from a corner deep within the room.
As she approached the corner, she pushed aside piles of old belongings and discovered an ancient wooden chest.
The chest was covered in dust, indicating it had not been touched for a long time.
With great effort, Luna opened the chest, and an ancient, mysterious aura rushed out to greet her.
As she focused her gaze, she found a uniquely shaped jade pendant resting inside.
The jade pendant was entirely emerald green, intricately carved with a lifelike dragon pattern.
This dragon design subtly radiated a powerful Magical Energy.
Luna reached out her small hand and picked up the Dragon Pattern Jade Pendant.
The moment her fingers touched the pendant, a surge of Electric Current coursed through her body.
"What... what is this?" Luna murmured to herself.
Little did she know that this Dragon Pattern Jade Pendant would bring her an extraordinary Destiny...
Qin Si gently pushed open the door and saw Luna standing in a cluttered room, holding a pendant.
"Young Miss, what are you doing here?" Qin Si hurried over, picking up Luna with concern. "It's so late; why aren't you in bed? And what is that you have in your hand?"
