The Legend of the Immortals Prequel: Wilderness Journey
Ten Thousand Swords in One staggered slightly, and the Dragon Slayer Sword's Azure Light surged forth, meeting the fireball in mid-air. However, his sword's aura was so sharp that in just a moment, the Azure Light pierced through the flames, whistling like an arrow, charging straight towards the shadowy figure.
At this moment, as the flames dispersed, the black-clad woman revealed her form. She was completely wrapped in a black robe, with a black scarf covering her face, leaving only a pair of bright eyes sparkling with energy. In her gaze, there was a hint of surprise, as if she had known Ten Thousand Swords in One was powerful but still did not expect him to be this strong.
As she watched the Azure Light sword aura rushing towards her with overwhelming momentum, almost unstoppable, the Black-Clad Woman shouted sharply. Suddenly, she spread her hands wide, and flames erupted around her with a roar, instantly forming a giant firebird in front of her. The firebird screeched in mid-air, its presence astonishing.
With the emergence of this Firebird, the temperature of the surrounding flames increased several times, its momentum completely different from before. It was clearly a formidable divine ability of the Black-Clad Woman.
The emerald sword aura surged forward; the Firebird did not dodge or evade but charged directly at it. A series of loud explosions echoed as sand flew and stones scattered, sounding like thunder as it managed to block Ten Thousand Swords in One's impressive strike.
Ten Thousand Swords in One hovered in mid-air, his gaze sharp as he glanced at the slender figure of the Black-Clad Woman. Suddenly frowning, he said solemnly, “Demon Cult's Four Envoys, Zhuque?”
The Firebird, engulfed in scorching flames, coldly turned its head to stare at Ten Thousand Swords in One, their eyes locking for a moment. However, the Black-Clad Woman did not respond; instead, she let out a soft whistle and turned to leave.
The Firebird circled behind her for a moment before following suit, seemingly with an intention to cover her retreat. Clearly, this demon cult woman held great apprehension towards Ten Thousand Swords in One.
Just as Ten Thousand Swords in One intended to pursue her, he suddenly turned to look back and noticed distant shouts and commotion coming from another direction. It was where Tian Buyi and others were tracking down their foes; it appeared they had engaged in battle with the demon cult again. After hesitating for a moment and glancing at the direction where the Black-Clad Woman had fled, he turned and soared off in another direction, his white robes billowing as he vanished into the distance.

After flying a distance away, the Black-Clad Woman looked back and saw that Ten Thousand Swords in One had not pursued her. She sighed in relief and waved her hand to disperse the massive Firebird hovering behind her. Reflecting on their brief yet intense exchange just moments ago, there was a flicker of unusual light in her eyes. No matter how one looked at it, that man dressed in white had exerted immense pressure on his opponent, creating an almost suffocating feeling.
If the battle were to continue, the Black-Clad Woman felt an unprecedented sense of being unable to contend, which was rare for her after achieving a certain level of mastery, and it left her quite displeased. However, with the situation already in chaos and members of the Holy Sect scattering in panic, it was not a time for overthinking. The Black-Clad Woman did not look back and quickly vanished into the distance with a few swift movements.
As she passed through several locations, she saw large groups of Cultists being pursued and slaughtered by disciples of the Azure Cloud Sect. Yet, the Black-Clad Woman merely glanced over them, occasionally rescuing someone in passing but never lingering, as she sped away.
With so many scattered cultists, she truly felt powerless to save them all. Moreover, the Azure Cloud Sect had deep roots; besides exceptional talents like Ten Thousand Swords in One and Dao Xuan, there were also many capable young disciples among them. If she wasn't careful, she might end up being captured herself.
Thus, she flew across the battlefield until she reached the edge of a Hills area. This was quite a distance from the Azure Cloud Mountain Range, and she did not see any disciples from the Azure Cloud Sect pursuing her nearby. In this chaotic battlefield, it seemed unusually quiet.
As soon as she landed, two figures emerged from the woods on the Hills, looking wary. However, when they recognized the Black-Clad Woman, their expressions relaxed, and they quickly stepped aside.
The Black-Clad Woman nodded to the two guards and strode up the Hills. Along the way, she noticed dozens of strong men stationed around the Hills, standing guard; they were all disciples of the Demon Cult Ghost King Sect. On the hilltop stood or sat several individuals, including Demon Cult Leader Qiu Wangyu and Ghost King Sect Master Ghost King.
At that moment, Qiu Wangyu was cradled in the arms of a man in his thirties. His breath was weak, and from the wound on his chest, white smoke was gently rising. It was evident that the surrounding flesh was writhing as if trying to heal itself, but something powerful remained at that wound site, preventing any progress and causing blood to flow freely.
Nearby, Ghost King was being supported by a young man named Wan who had originally been guarding at the foot of the hill. His face was pale as paper and his breathing weak; he appeared to be in dire condition as well.
Aside from these individuals, behind Wan and Ghost King stood a figure in black—Mr. Ghost. Additionally, beside Qiu Wangyu and the young man in green stood two others: one was a tall and imposing man with a strong presence, while the other was a plump old man with somewhat vacant eyes. Both were filled with anxiety as they closely watched Qiu Wangyu.
Upon hearing footsteps, everyone except Qiu Wangyu and Ghost King turned to look at the Black-Clad Woman. After a moment, it was the young man in green holding Qiu Wangyu who spoke first, asking, "Zhuque, what happened?"
The Black-Clad Woman named Zhuque gently shook her head and replied, "Changsheng Hall Duan Hou has perished; the remaining disciples have scattered. Heavenly Moon Fairy of the Joyful Union Sect is severely injured; she has been rescued by her disciples and fled. It seems she is solely focused on escaping and has lost her will to fight."
A heavy silence fell over those present as a tense atmosphere enveloped the hilltop. After a moment, a soft sigh escaped from Qiu Wangyu's lips—the one whose breath was faint.
Everyone was suddenly shocked and hurried over. They saw Qiu Wangyu open his eyes. Despite being severely injured, he remained calm, even showing a hint of self-mockery as he said, "I didn't expect to be defeated."
The strong man, resembling a fierce beast, showed a look of grief and anger as he stepped forward and said, "Master, don't worry. As long as you recover from your injuries, we will naturally be able to make a comeback and go back to Azure Cloud Mountain to kill him without leaving a trace!"
Qiu Wangyu smiled slightly and said, "Alright, Bai Hu, I will leave this matter to you from now on."
Bai Hu was taken aback and momentarily speechless.
After hearing this somewhat ominous remark, Qiu Wangyu glanced around and suddenly asked, "What about the Wandu Sect?"
