Liu Liangmei entered the venue, drawing little attention, while Jiang Chen, dressed casually, seemed completely out of place.

As they whispered among themselves, a woman in her mid-twenties approached Liu Liangmei and Jiang Chen. This woman was Du Yujie, a disciple of Lou Yijing for over ten years. She had been by Lou Yijing's side for quite some time and came from a prominent family; her father was Du Chufeng, a big shot in a gang from the island.
Du Yujie hailed from an illustrious lineage and had spent the last decade learning under Lou Yijing, recently breaking through to the Inner Energy level. While Lou Yijing valued background when taking on disciples, talent was also essential—though not overly demanding. Du Yujie's aptitude was decent; after ten years under Lou Yijing, reaching the initial stage of Inner Energy was quite normal.
In the Xiu Xian World, it was similar; those with wealth could cultivate faster than ordinary people with the same aptitude. Wealthy individuals could afford abundant rare resources and hire the best teachers, allowing even mediocre talents to achieve some results through sheer accumulation.
Holding a glass of red wine, Du Yujie approached Jiang Chen and Liu Liangmei, looking down at Jiang Chen as she said, "Do you know what kind of occasion this is? You’re not welcome here dressed like that."
Neither Liu Liangmei nor Jiang Chen acknowledged Du Yujie as they brushed past her. To be ignored like this was unexpected.
Her hand holding the wine glass trembled slightly with anger. "Stop!" Du Yujie turned around and called out sternly.
Jiang Chen and Liu Liangmei halted but did not turn back to address her. Liu Liangmei waved over to a server and took two glasses of red wine from a tray, handing one to Jiang Chen.
Du Yujie was furious at being disregarded again; it felt deliberate on their part. Strutting in her high heels and evening gown, she approached them once more, signaling several other female disciples from Xuan Yue Sect to join her. This time, it would be harder for Jiang Chen and Liu Liangmei to leave.
"Hey! Didn’t you hear Senior Du speaking?" one young woman questioned sternly.
These women were all supporters of Du Yujie. In any group, there are factions; even within Xuan Yue Sect, which had only a few hundred disciples, divisions existed among them. Seeing Du Yujie being ignored prompted her followers to step forward and assert themselves—after all, it was their territory, and they believed Jiang Chen and Liu Liangmei wouldn’t cause any trouble.
"Who are you two? If you’re here to stir up trouble, you’ve come to the wrong place," Du Yujie frowned and asked as Jiang Chen and Liu Liangmei remained unfazed.
"Younger lady, we’re here to celebrate your Master’s birthday; we’re not here to cause any trouble," Liu Liangmei replied with a smile as she raised the gift box in her hand. "Look, I’ve brought a present that I intend to give personally to your Master."
