Three paths lay before Mo Wen. The first was to prepare himself here and wait for the storm to arrive. The second was to flee in the direction of the Lava Bat, as these creatures living in the Lava Sea could naturally find relatively safe places to weather the storm. The last option was to advance toward the direction from which the storm approached.
After careful consideration, Mo Wen decided to move toward the storm. He had enough confidence in his ability to survive it. For a month, he traveled against the wind, searching for suitable refuge while gathering materials. The caves that had once been occupied by Demon Beasts were now deserted, and he did not want to miss out on any useful items within. As the wind grew stronger, the previously calm Lava Sea began to churn violently, with waves reaching heights of over twenty feet. His small boat could no longer withstand such fierce winds and waves, forcing Mo Wen to halt his progress.
He came upon a massive "pillar," the largest he had seen since entering the Lava Sea, spanning dozens of miles. Mo Wen guessed that this "pillar" must be a gigantic mountain on the surface. Climbing up on the side facing the lava waves, he sought a relatively high position. The very top was out of reach, as it was already occupied by Flying Beasts. At this moment, other Demon Beasts that had lived in the lava were also climbing up, engaged in fierce battles for territory. Defeated Demon Beasts fell from the mountain into the lava below, while those perched at the summit circled around, waiting to prey on their climbing counterparts.
Rocks, Demon Beast corpses, and fragments of bodies occasionally tumbled down around him, nearly hitting Mo Wen several times. Compared to the Demon Beasts, he was insignificant and did not attract their attention. Nevertheless, Mo Wen remained cautious and took two days to find a suitable refuge—a vertical cliff with no caves surrounding it. He took out his tools and began carving out a dwelling in the rock face, quickly setting up a Magic Circle within a cave about ten feet deep and anchoring his Lava Skiff to the stone wall.
"Wu Wu..." The howling wind that swept through the stone pillars rising from the sea created a ghostly wail. This wind had been blowing for half a month and was growing stronger. The gusts stirred up the lava into increasingly massive waves that crashed against the pillars with a thunderous roar, accompanied by the sound of stones grinding against each other. Some smaller pillars could not withstand the battering and eventually collapsed into the lava.
Outside, waves surged violently while fierce winds raged. The Fire Spirit Power ignited under intense collision and friction, forming Fire Tornadoes on the surface of the sea. A strange scene unfolded as these Fire Tornadoes drew up lava into towering columns of stone that were subsequently knocked down by incoming waves into the sea below.
Mo Wen withdrew his gaze and looked through his Magic Circle; he saw that the lava waves were only about ten feet away from his hiding place. The molten flow rushing down from both sides of the mountain had already risen above his position. The torrents converged behind the mountain to form two massive whirlpools that counteracted each other, creating a relatively calm lake surface where materials and Demon Beast corpses gathered from afar. Watching these treasures in the lake made Mo Wen's mouth water; however, compared to his own life, these items were nothing of consequence.
