I stood at the door, dazed. From the moment I heard the knocking to when I rushed over to open it, no more than five seconds had passed. Who could knock on the door and then vanish in such a short time? 0

If I had to provide a reasonable explanation, it would either be that someone was deliberately playing a prank or that my ears had deceived me. But what happened next proved both of these guesses wrong. 0

“Knock, knock, knock…” The crisp and eerie sound of knocking broke the silence of the night once again. That sound was definitely not an illusion; it came from inside my house! Someone was knocking from within! 0

I whipped around, my eyes wide as I stared into the dark living room. By now, my vision had adjusted to the night, revealing only a few simple pieces of furniture scattered about—there was no way anyone could be hiding there. The doors to the bathroom and kitchen were wide open, and I mustered my courage to check—both were equally empty. 0

I returned to the bedroom door and futilely pressed the Electric Light switch several times. Damn it, the light still wouldn’t turn on! 0

At that moment, the “knock, knock” sound echoed again, and this time I heard it more clearly; it seemed to be coming from the wardrobe! 0

My heart raced, cold sweat instantly soaking my clothes. I fought to suppress my fear as I cautiously approached the wardrobe, trembling as I opened its heavy dark doors. 0

Inside was a shadowy void that appeared empty yet felt like it concealed endless terror. I reached my right hand into the wardrobe, groping in the darkness. The air inside was more humid than in the room, sending chills down my arm as if a terrifying creature might leap out at any moment and bite down hard on my exposed skin. 0

Fortunately, I didn’t touch anything; the wardrobe was indeed empty. Several times my hand brushed against the cold wall of the cabinet, and I quickly recoiled as if shocked. 0

Could it be that I misheard? Where did that sound come from? 0

Now, the only place in the house I hadn’t checked was the balcony. Before going to bed, I had closed the door leading from the bedroom to the balcony—could it be… 0

But who would be knocking on that door? 0

The girl's desolate gaze flashed in my mind once more, and I felt her loneliness intensely. I know this may sound absurd, but I truly believed there was a force guiding me toward that balcony. 0

I grasped the handle of the Balcony Door, gritted my teeth, twisted and pushed, and the door slowly creaked open. Under the pale moonlight, only my own shadow accompanied me. 0

Reluctantly, I walked to the eastern side of the balcony and looked toward the neighboring window. It was open, and moonlight streamed through, illuminating a sorrowful Little Face. 0

I saw the girl again, her pale clothing matching her equally pale complexion. She stood less than three meters away at the window, staring at me without any barrier between us. That desolate gaze pierced through me like a sharp Ice Sword, drowning me in layers of darkness, coldness, painful memories, and terrifying nightmares in an instant. I trembled; it felt as if she were trying to draw me into a horrific hell with her eyes! 0

I let out a guttural cry of anguish from my throat and fled into the bedroom. I slammed the Balcony Door shut behind me and curled up on the bed, wrapping myself in the thin blanket, hoping it would shield me from all my pain and fear. 0

"Knock, knock, knock..." The sound of knocking echoed again, this time more urgent and louder. 0

I huddled under the blanket. Leave me alone! Why do you cling to me? Why must I endure this pain once more? 0
