Seven months into his journey in the Lava Sea, Mo Wen's once-dull gaze finally sparkled with a glimmer of hope. In this scorching and perilous expanse, he had finally spotted a sign of salvation. The sea around him began to sporadically reveal some thick "pillars." These "pillars" were not ordinary rocks; they were formed from special minerals in the Lava Sea that had cooled and solidified over time. Their appearance meant that Mo Wen could find a place to rest, which was undoubtedly great news for someone who had been adrift in the Lava Sea for so long. Another uplifting piece of news for Mo Wen was that the changes in the Little Black Hole were gradually slowing down. This indicated that he was not far from his destination, reigniting hope in his weary heart.
Mo Wen found a relatively safe cave and began to attempt crafting his ideal Xing Zhou. Out of curiosity, he had purchased a list of materials and methods needed to forge a Xing Zhou from the black market. At the time, he hadn’t held much hope for this list, thinking it might offer some reference value, which was better than being completely lost. Now, this list finally proved useful. Mo Wen carefully compared it with the materials he had on hand and was pleasantly surprised to find that he possessed everything necessary to create the Xing Zhou. As he had anticipated, the main materials required for crafting the Xing Zhou came from the Demon Beasts within the Lava Sea. Moreover, the higher the level of the Demon Beast, the sturdier and more durable the resulting Xing Zhou would be. However, before officially starting his crafting process, Mo Wen meticulously reviewed the forging methods to ensure he wouldn’t make any basic mistakes.
After careful preparation, Mo Wen finally forged his first Xing Zhou. Looking at this modest vessel that embodied his hard work, Mo Wen felt a surge of anticipation. He could hardly wait to take it outside for a test run. Stepping out of the cave, he leaped onto the platform where lava met the pillars. With great care, he placed the Xing Zhou into the molten lava and nervously watched its every movement. However, after just fifteen minutes, the entire small boat ignited within the lava and was ultimately reduced to ashes. Watching his burnt-out Xing Zhou, disappointment washed over Mo Wen's face. Yet, he quickly recalled a saying: "Failure is the mother of success." Although he didn’t know who originally said it, he found himself agreeing with it. Thus, he turned back and leaped into the cave to continue crafting.
Despite having some foundational knowledge in forging, Mo Wen realized that successfully creating a Xing Zhou capable of navigating the Lava Sea for extended periods was quite challenging. Nevertheless, he did not let this discourage him. Each time he forged a new Xing Zhou, its duration in the lava gradually increased. Of course, Mo Wen did not forget his purpose; he didn’t remain in one cave crafting endlessly but instead sought out different caves for forging at intervals. With each attempt and experiment, he continually summarized his findings and made improvements. The current Xing Zhou beneath his feet might look somewhat crude—more like a raft made from beast bones—but it had already endured two months in the Lava Sea. However, it still fell far short of what Mo Wen envisioned as an ideal Xing Zhou.
Mo Wen understood well that the environment of the Lava Sea was extremely harsh; its lava reached high temperatures and possessed strong corrosive properties that ordinary materials could not withstand. Additionally, various powerful Demon Beasts lurked within the Lava Sea, ready to attack any Xing Zhou at any moment. Therefore, crafting a vessel capable of long-term navigation through these treacherous waters required not only durable materials but also exceptional forging skills and a profound understanding of the Lava Sea's environment.
Through repeated failures and improvements, Mo Wen gradually accumulated valuable experience. He began to delve deeper into studying the Demon Beasts within the Lava Sea to understand their habits and weaknesses. He discovered that some high-level Demon Beasts possessed bones and scales that were not only incredibly hard but also had special anti-corrosive properties. Thus, he started experimenting with incorporating these materials into his Xing Zhou designs while continuously optimizing its structure to better suit the conditions of the Lava Sea.
