After a short while, Mo Wen arrived at the dock operated by Huo Lou. This was just one of the many docks managed by Huo Lou, and he chose this location because it was the closest to the entrance of the Lava Sea. It was also a popular departure point for many adventurers seeking treasure in the Lava Sea. Standing on the dock and gazing at the expanse of crimson before him, Mo Wen felt little in comparison to his previous experiences in the Cloud Mist Forest and the Underground Lava River. His mind was focused on the Little Black Hole within the Square Inch World. Here, he sensed that the flames emitted by the Little Black Hole seemed stronger than before. He was calculating where he needed to position himself to maximize his assistance to Xiao Hei during its transformation. It was crucial to get this right; if he wasn't in the right spot, he wouldn't be able to help Xiao Hei complete its metamorphosis in the fastest and most effective manner. However, if he overshot it, there was a significant risk of an adverse outcome. Although he couldn't monitor the situation inside the Little Black Hole constantly, he knew he had to check back periodically.
The dock was sparsely populated with a few individuals—some appeared to be part of a small team, while others were solitary adventurers like Mo Wen, all waiting for the right moment to enter the Lava Sea. The right moment referred to nightfall when the temperature of the Lava Sea would drop slightly. Mo Wen approached the dock's entrance and presented a token given to him by Elder Zhu to the guard. Regarding Huo Lou's token, its only benefit for Mo Wen was that it exempted him from having his cultivation level checked. Elder Zhu had informed Mo Wen that Huo Lou conducted these checks on those entering through his dock to determine how long they could stay inside, aiming to attract adventurers with hopes that they would sell their finds back to Huo Lou upon their return.
Stepping onto the dock, Mo Wen leaped onto the surface of the Lava Sea. Although it was scorching near the entrance, chunks of stone had formed on the lava's surface. He jumped between these stones and placed Xing Zhou down before setting off toward a distant cave. As he noticed people at the dock murmuring about his midday entry into the sea, Mo Wen paid them no mind and paddled swiftly toward the cavern.
Sitting in his small boat, he rowed forward while scanning his surroundings for direction. The Xing Zhou sold by Huo Lou was quite interesting; it came with a pair of oars for manual rowing, and inside the boat was a foot pedal that allowed it to move forward when pedaled with both feet. Each boat had a limited usage period; it could only operate in the lava for a hundred days.
After a day’s journey, Mo Wen finally arrived at a massive cave entrance that resembled a gaping maw, half-submerged in red lava. He looked up at the sky; for an extended period ahead, he would again be underground without day or night. Fortunately, this time he was better prepared and wouldn’t lose his sense of direction or time as he had previously.
Having traveled underground for over a month, Mo Wen felt that he might have gone mad if not for his earlier experience in the Misty Forest. Now, finally finding something made him elated.
"Wow! There's actually a high-grade medicinal herb here!"
After an entire journey with nothing to show for it and encountering no one else along the way—just lifeless crimson lava surrounding him—discovering this herb signified an end to his monotonous time underground. However, while hopes were high, reality often proved otherwise; an end to one stretch of tedium could very well mark the beginning of another.
