Gong Shangnan understood that Long Jiu was merely here for training, and this Young Master Long was unaware of the subtle relationships between the Cangyun Continent, the Empire, and various factions. “Long Young Master is trapped in Lian Yun Yinzhou Chi Huo City. The situation is critical; we need you to go and bring him back safely,” Gong Shangnan said to the man in black seated inside. The man had a scar running from the corner of his eye down to his ear.
“Is there any instruction from the master?” the Scarred Man asked in a deep voice.
“No, it was directly arranged by Long Young Master,” Gong Shangnan replied with a shake of his head.
“Without instructions from the master, we cannot proceed,” the Scarred Man flatly refused.
“Scarred Man, don’t blame Old Man for not warning you. We both serve the Sect, but if something happens to Long Young Master here on our territory, we will be the ones suffering in the end. You know how ruthless the Sect can be,” Gong Shangnan said with an increasingly displeased expression.
“Fine, I’ll personally take people there. But if the master holds us accountable afterward, you must explain things clearly; otherwise…” The Scarred Man pondered for a moment.
“If the master holds us accountable, Old Man will take responsibility for it. But you must hurry; Yin Qian is not far from Chi Huo City.” Gong Shangnan was unconcerned by Scarred Man’s threat; as long as Long Jiu remained safe, that figure would only scold him verbally at most. He had already devised ways to deflect responsibility.
In Chi Huo City, Yin Qian had already arrived. With Bai Shan City secure and thoughts lingering on Long Jiu within Chi Huo City, he made his way alone. Standing atop a tall building and gazing at the city walls before him—once used for defending against enemies but now intended for breaching—he found it deeply ironic.
