"Let's eat and drink first," he said, as his stomach growled in protest. Clearly, the Temple of the Five Viscera was voicing its complaints. He had lost track of how long it had been since he last honored the temple, but based on past experiences, it should have been around ten days. This meant he had spent nearly ten days on the bridge between those cracks, a deduction that seemed quite plausible.
Jumping down from the stone pillar, he approached the stone door and surveyed it. Gathering some firewood from around, he began preparing his dinner.
The long-missed aroma started to waft through the air as the meat on the fire began to sizzle and release its juices. Not only had he collected firewood for roasting meat, but he had also built himself a bed. Though it was merely branches laid on the ground with a Beast Skin on top, it felt quite luxurious. Under the open sky, if only there were a hot spring nearby to soak in, that would be perfect. He reminisced about the Cloud Mist Forest; despite the hardships of battle, he could still enjoy a soak in a hot spring now and then, along with memories of Ni Zi. Sighing, he shook his head with a wry smile; after all, who doesn't think of love in their youth? Yet it seemed he was still some distance away from that stage of life.
"My meat!" A burnt smell wafted from the fire pit, and hurriedly pulling out the roasted meat, Mo Wen frowned at one side that was charred. As the "Food God" according to Li Erniu, how could he lose focus while roasting meat? Naturally, as a "Food God," eating burnt meat was out of the question. He discarded the charred piece and took out fresh ingredients to continue cooking.
After satisfying his hunger and thirst, he lay back on his "luxurious" bed, gazing up at the sky. The dark clouds still lingered above, but through the gaps between them and the mountains, parts of the night sky were visible.
"I almost delayed my main task!" Sunlight streamed through a crack in the clouds and landed on Mo Wen's face. He raised his hand to shield his eyes and opened them wide, sitting up on his bed while squinting at the now-extinguished fire pit. Suddenly, he jumped up and slapped his forehead; he hadn’t come here for a vacation but rather to find the missing Stone Disc. He packed away the Beast Skin and began to seriously study the massive stone door before him.
"Do I really have to resort to brute force to open this door?" Mo Wen sighed as he stared at the stone door. He had been examining it for two hours now; there were no mechanisms or signs of a Magic Circle—this door seemed like a solid barrier. Concerned that he might have missed some detail, he continued to scrutinize it for another half hour but yielded no results; the door remained unchanged with no sign of any buttons or mechanisms. It wasn't entirely his fault for being overly influenced by novels; indeed, in ancient times, doors like this Gate of Xuantian were often controlled by mechanisms. However, seeing the marks on the door made him feel somewhat better—many had likely used brute force against it before him and spent considerable effort searching for an opening mechanism.
Standing beside the stone door, Mo Wen decided to take a break. With one hand on his waist and another resting against a protruding stone near the edge of the door, he pressed down lightly. "Click!" The stone beneath his hand made a sound as it retracted inward. Caught off guard, he nearly stumbled but quickly steadied himself and looked back at where he had just pressed. "Haha! What did I say? I'm indeed the Food God! What luck!"
Where that protruding stone had been, a small door appeared—about human height and three feet wide—revealing itself before him. Upon closer inspection, there in the center of this small door was the missing Stone Disc, now only palm-sized and indistinguishable in color and shape from the surrounding stones.
