Ao Bing's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Yes, I hope it can become a bridge for the Dragon Tribe to communicate with human culture. The Dragon Tribe has a rich musical tradition, with many instruments and pieces that the Human World has never heard of. At the same time, human symphonies and jazz can bring a whole new musical experience to the Dragon Tribe."
"You really have a knack for finding common ground and building bridges," Nezha marveled. "Just like you did when you resolved the conflict between my father and me."
Ao Bing shook his head. "That's just my nature. I’ve never liked conflict and prefer to seek harmony."
The two walked along the coastline, enjoying the beautiful afternoon. Suddenly, Nezha heard familiar shouts from a distance. Turning around, he saw several teammates from the Magic City University Football Team running towards them.
"Nezha! Ao Bing!" Zhao Lei hurried forward, his face beaming with excitement. "Guess what good news I just heard? The newly established Galaxy Club is coming to our school next week to scout players! They moved it up by two weeks!"
Nezha was taken aback. "So soon? I'm not fully prepared yet..."
Another teammate patted Nezha on the shoulder. "Don't worry; you're the best player on our team. As long as you perform normally, you'll be fine."
Zhao Lei added, "And I heard they are mainly coming to see you. Your performance in the Provincial League has already caught their attention."
Nezha was both surprised and delighted. "Really? They are coming for me?"
"Absolutely!" Zhao Lei exclaimed. "The coach was just looking for you to arrange extra training to help you prepare."
Nezha turned to Ao Bing, his eyes filled with anticipation and anxiety. "Ao Bing, this opportunity came so suddenly..."
Ao Bing smiled and nodded. "Go ahead; don’t keep the coach waiting. I’ll head back to my dorm to organize my graduate school application materials. See you tonight."
Nezha hugged Ao Bing gratefully before hurriedly leaving with his teammates. Ao Bing stood in place, watching Nezha's retreating figure with warmth and support in his eyes.
However, fate always seems to play tricks on people.
In the following week, Nezha threw himself into training, often practicing from dawn until dusk, returning to his dorm exhausted and collapsing into bed. Meanwhile, Ao Bing was busy preparing his graduate school application materials and handling affairs of the Dragon Palace, leaving them little time to communicate properly.
The night before selection day, Nezha returned to the dorm dragging his weary body only to find Ao Bing sitting at the desk, looking serious as he stared at his phone.
"Ao Bing? What's wrong?" Nezha asked with concern.
Ao Bing looked up, worry evident in his eyes. "I received news from the Dragon Palace that there are issues with negotiations involving the Ocean Conservation Alliance. Some human countries have objections to the cooperation terms, especially regarding restrictions on underwater resource development. My father wants me to return immediately to assist in handling this."
Nezha tensed up instantly. "What? Now? But tomorrow is the club selection..."
Ao Bing clearly realized this too; he bit his lip. "I know... I had planned to wait until after your selection before going back. But my father said it’s urgent—if the negotiations fail, it could affect the overall relationship between the Dragon Tribe and humans."
Nezha felt a wave of disappointment but understood the importance of Dragon Tribe affairs. "I understand; the future of the Dragon Tribe is more important. You should go back right away."
Ao Bing looked at Nezha with regret in his eyes. "I really wanted to see your selection... It means so much to you, and I should be there to support you."
Nezha forced a smile, "It's okay, I appreciate your thoughts. Besides, this is just the first round of selection. If I pass, there will be plenty more opportunities for you to come watch me play."
Ao Bing still looked uneasy, "But..."
"Don't worry," Nezha said, holding Ao Bing's hand, "We each have our own responsibilities and missions, something we've known all along. It's impossible for everything to be perfect."
