The classroom for the first lesson was packed, clearly indicating that Shen Gongbao's "return" had caused quite a stir. Many students came drawn by his good reputation before leaving school, while others were intrigued by the mysterious story of his departure and sudden return.
Nezha and Ao Bing deliberately chose seats towards the back, allowing them to observe Shen Gongbao without drawing too much attention.
The classroom door swung open, and Shen Gongbao walked in. He still wore his signature dark blue Chinese-style stand-collar shirt, layered with a dark suit, exuding the same elegant yet enigmatic aura as before. However, upon closer inspection, one could see that his complexion seemed slightly worse than before, and there were signs of fatigue around his eyes.
"It’s been a long time, everyone," Shen Gongbao said with a smile, his voice still as magnetic as ever. "I’m very pleased to stand at this podium again and share the mysteries of Eastern Mythology with you."
He scanned the classroom, and his gaze noticeably lingered on Nezha and Ao Bing for a moment, a meaningful smile curling at the corners of his lips. Nezha instinctively tensed up, ready to respond at any moment; Ao Bing maintained an outward calm but his eyes became particularly alert.
However, Shen Gongbao merely nodded slightly and continued with his opening remarks. "Today, I would like to discuss a special theme—'Sealing and Liberation.' In Eastern Mythology, powerful beings are often sealed away and lose their strength, yet they always find a way to return to the world. This cyclical nature is akin to the cycles of the universe and the ebbs and flows of life..."
Throughout the class, Shen Gongbao remained the knowledgeable and articulate professor he had always been. He explained the complex mythological system in an accessible manner, frequently referencing various ancient texts and legends as examples, making obscure theories lively and engaging. His class was still captivating; even students who were not particularly interested in this subject found themselves engrossed.
Nezha had to admit that even without his supernatural powers, Shen Gongbao was still an incredibly charismatic educator. His vast knowledge and sharp thinking left one in awe. Ao Bing also took notes diligently, seemingly setting aside his vigilance for a moment as he immersed himself in the sea of knowledge.
When the bell rang signaling the end of class, students lingered with lingering curiosity, many crowding around the podium to ask Shen Gongbao questions. He patiently answered each one with a humble demeanor, completely devoid of any academic arrogance.
"Let’s go," Ao Bing said to Nezha. "We’re going to be late for the next class."
Nezha nodded and was about to leave when he heard someone call his name.
"Li Nezha and Ao Bing, could you please wait a moment?" Shen Gongbao's voice came from behind them.
The two stopped in their tracks and turned to face the approaching Shen Gongbao. Nezha quietly clenched his fists, adopting a defensive stance, while Ao Bing maintained a calm facade but was ready to activate his Water System abilities if necessary.
Shen Gongbao seemed to notice their vigilance and smiled slightly. "There's no need to be tense. I just want to have a brief chat with you two. After all, we share... a bit of history."
The other students in the classroom had gradually left, leaving only the three of them. Shen Gongbao gestured for them to sit down while he leaned against the edge of the podium.
"First of all, I want to thank you," Shen Gongbao said unexpectedly. "Thank you for stopping my previous 'crazy plan.'"
Nezha and Ao Bing exchanged glances, surprised to hear such words.
"Are you... really Shen Gongbao?" Nezha couldn't help but ask. "The one who wanted to open the Dragon Gate?"
