The classmates reluctantly dispersed, and Nezha and Ao Bing prepared to leave as well. However, Aunt Taiyi suddenly called out to them.
"Nezha, Ao Bing, wait a moment."
The two paused and looked at Aunt Taiyi with curiosity. Once everyone else had left, Aunt Taiyi closed the door and her expression grew serious.
"You two, have you noticed anything unusual lately?" Aunt Taiyi asked directly, her gaze sharp and unlike that of an ordinary Dormitory Office staff member.
Nezha and Ao Bing exchanged glances, both feeling a sense of caution. Ao Bing replied carefully, "Aside from the incidents of lost items, we haven't noticed anything particularly strange."
Aunt Taiyi scrutinized them for a moment before speaking softly. "Some things are not as simple as they seem. Dormitory Building Four has been very quiet until recently when these odd occurrences began. I suspect it may be related to certain... special powers."
Nezha's heart raced; Aunt Taiyi's words seemed to imply something deeper. Did she know something?
"Aunt Taiyi," Nezha asked tentatively, "do you think these thefts are connected to ghost stories?"
Aunt Taiyi smiled knowingly. "There are no ghosts in this world, only the fears of the human heart and unknown forces. Some people possess abilities that ordinary folks cannot comprehend; they can achieve what seems impossible."
Ao Bing's expression grew more alert. "Are you suggesting that someone is using special abilities to steal these items?"
"I'm merely presenting a possibility," Aunt Taiyi shrugged. "After all, this world is far more complex than it appears on the surface, isn't it?"
She patted both of their shoulders. "Alright, you two can go back now. If you notice anything unusual, remember to come find me."
Nezha and Ao Bing stepped out of Dorm 410, walking in silence. It wasn't until they returned to their own dorm and closed the door that Nezha could no longer hold back. "Aunt Taiyi definitely knows something! The things she said, that look in her eyes—it was like she was hinting at us!"
Ao Bing nodded, his expression serious. "She knows someone is using special abilities, and she doesn't seem like an ordinary person either."
"Do you think she might have some kind of ability too?" Nezha speculated excitedly.
"That's very possible," Ao Bing pondered. "But more importantly, we need to find out who is stealing these items and why."
Nezha leaned against the window, deep in thought. "Is there anything these stolen items have in common? The Gold Ring, the signed book, the Dragon-Pattern Pocket Watch..."
Suddenly, Ao Bing became alert. "The Dragon-Pattern Pocket Watch? That caught my attention. Do you remember the Dragon Pattern from my book?"
Nezha nodded. "Are you suspecting a connection?"
"Not sure, but it's worth investigating," Ao Bing said seriously. "If someone is indeed collecting dragon-related items, it might not just be simple theft."
After thinking for a moment, Nezha suddenly slammed his hand on the table. "What if we set a trap tonight? Since there have already been three thefts in a row, there's a good chance there will be a fourth. We can take turns keeping watch and see if we can catch this mysterious thief."
Ao Bing considered it for a moment before nodding in agreement. "Alright, but we need to be careful. If the other party really has special abilities, it could be dangerous."
"Don't worry," Nezha said with a confident smile. "With the two of us working together, how can we not handle one little thief?"
Ao Bing shook his head helplessly, but the corners of his mouth lifted slightly, clearly affected by Nezha's confidence. "Okay then, it's settled. We'll take turns keeping watch tonight."
"Awesome!" Nezha exclaimed, "Are we going to the small lake this afternoon to test our abilities?"
"Of course," Ao Bing replied, "Especially now, we need to understand and master our powers."
