I felt a deep unease in my heart, sensing that something was about to happen. I hurriedly asked my senior sister what was wrong. She stared at the blackened head, seemingly talking to herself, “How long has this thing been dead?” 0

I didn’t understand what she was getting at, but I glanced at my watch and answered honestly, “It’s currently two fourteen in the morning. It’s been dead for about… six hours.” 0

At that moment, my senior sister’s face turned pale, which made me anxious as well. My heart raced with worry, “What’s going on?” 0

She said, “The Frugivorous Civet releases a foul odor from its scent glands when it is attacked to deter enemies. If this Frugivorous Civet can no longer release that odor, then that stench we smelled earlier…” 0

Just then, a massive shadow suddenly appeared on the ground in front of the campfire. Beside that shadow was a long silhouette that continuously waved around, at least as thick as the trunk of a mature fir tree. 0

I exchanged glances with my senior sister and swallowed hard. My body involuntarily turned, and what came into view was a Frugivorous Civet covered in thick black fur. 0

At first glance, I thought it was a black bear! But right in the middle of its face was a glaring streak of white paint—just as my senior sister had described. 0

The Frugivorous Civet’s eyes gleamed with a fierce light, staring at us menacingly. Under the reflection of the flashlight, its eyes sparkled with a predatory glint as if we had killed its mother. 0

I froze for a moment, recalling the earlier Frugivorous Civet we encountered. No way! Could it be? Was that one its child and this one its parent?! 0

When our eyes met again, it was clear my senior sister shared my thoughts. I couldn’t help but swallow again, cursing our junior brother for being such an idiot a thousand times over in my mind. 0

Suddenly, the Frugivorous Civet lowered its head and sniffed us closely. A rumbling sound began to rise from its throat, reminiscent of an engine revving up. 0

My senior sister grabbed my hand and exclaimed, “Oh no! It’s smelling the barbecue scent on us! Run!” 0

With a loud shout, she pulled me into a backward roll and quickly dashed toward the forest behind us. Almost as soon as we moved away, a hefty paw came crashing down where I had just crouched, leaving five deep claw marks in the ground. 0

My heart raced in terror as I sprinted forward without looking back. As the saying goes, two legs can hardly compete with four; in the blink of an eye, the fierce wind from the Frugivorous Civet's paw swept past my head again. In desperation, I crouched down and rolled to the side just as it swiped again, missing me by inches. It skidded to a halt, kicking up dust all around before lunging at me once more. 0

Its large frame moved with surprising agility. As I rolled to the side and landed, it seized the moment, spreading its limbs wide and launching a powerful attack that felt like a mountain crashing down. By the time I regained my footing and realized there was more to come, the enormous shadow that obscured the moon was already looming over me, leaving me no chance to escape. 0

I gritted my teeth. Damn it, if I’m going to die, then so be it! 0

In a flash, I kicked out both legs, striking the soft underbelly of the Frugivorous Civet. It let out a strange cry and immediately fainted. However, my strength was limited, and I couldn’t support the full weight of the Frugivorous Civet; it collapsed on top of me. 0

“Damn!” My senior sister’s voice seemed to come from outside the blanket. Suddenly, one of my arms was yanked out. Realizing what she intended to do, I quickly engaged all my muscles to cooperate with her. 0

Just as my upper body was being pulled free, the black Mao Mouse suddenly stirred. Both my sister and I froze in surprise, halting our movements. 0

Then, I felt a warm liquid pouring onto my legs trapped beneath the Frugivorous Civet. My heart sank—was it injured? But I hadn’t seen any blood from the two kicks I delivered. 0

Noticing my expression change, my sister asked anxiously, “What’s wrong?” 0

At that moment, an exceptionally pungent smell hit my nose. I froze in realization and instinctively pinched my nose. “Crap, it peed!” 0

My sister waved her hand in front of her face in disgust; she could smell it too. She gestured for me to hurry up and get out but refused to help any further. 0

Dragging my heavy legs out while feeling relieved that it had merely lost control of its bladder, I couldn’t help but think about how foul this odor was—my goodness, it was worse than monkey urine. 0

Before the stench dissipated, my sister maintained a safe distance of two meters from me to avoid being overwhelmed or worse—being tainted by it. 0

Right now, our priority was to find our junior brothers. If this female Frugivorous Civet had attacked them, clearly they wouldn’t have retreated without a sound. 0

I sensed that an even greater danger awaited us. Glancing at my watch, I saw it was two fifty in the morning. 0

My sister asked if I had any way to contact them. After thinking for a moment, I suddenly remembered the Moon Meteorite. It had been taken from the positioning device on the Bronze Armory's copper umbrella—there were two of them that could attract each other. One was with Cold Bench; as for the other one, although my junior brother hadn’t mentioned it, I knew it must be hidden somewhere he trusted. 0

I quickly briefed my senior sister about the situation with the Moon Meteorite as we ran towards our camp. I started rummaging through my junior brother's backpack, then mine, but found nothing. 0

A hint of disappointment crossed my senior sister's face as she voiced a thought I had been reluctant to admit: "Could it be that he brought it with him?" 0

I was unwilling to give up so easily. Searching through the vast Cedar Forest in the dark without relying on the Moon Meteorite's interaction would be like looking for a needle in a haystack. "No, it shouldn't be." 0

My senior sister clung to the last shred of hope. "Yes, let's keep looking. Maybe it's in someone else's bag." 0

Suddenly, a thought struck me. Before we entered the second Copper Door, we had exchanged backpacks with the people from Third Granduncle Master. I immediately dashed out of the tent and into Third Granduncle Master's tent, dumping out everything from A Chen's bag. It was all tactical gear—could it be that I was mistaken? 0

My senior sister, who had followed me in, asked what was going on. I couldn't spare a moment to explain; there had to be something I overlooked! Just then, my peripheral vision caught something on the back of the backpack—it seemed to bulge slightly. However, due to the massage sponge sewn on top, it wasn't obvious and wouldn't cause discomfort when worn. 0

I pulled out my staff and cut a slit in it, revealing a corner of Bronze from inside. I let out a long sigh of relief as I retrieved the positioning device. 0

"How exquisite!" my senior sister exclaimed. 0

In that instant, I suddenly realized something and couldn't help but laugh. I had to admit that my junior brother's cleverness was indeed somewhat useful. 0
