In a cave, a Lava Beast once called this place home, but it had been driven out. It lay nearby, observing the two humans who had taken over its dwelling. A month ago, an old man and a young child appeared at the cave entrance. The old man made the Lava Beast feel suffocated, but fortunately, after being beaten by the child under the old man's watchful eye, they did not kill it. Recently, the Lava Beast had been lingering in the vicinity, and the two humans paid it no mind.
Inside the mountain, the cave twisted downward, with each descent leading to a platform carved by Old Lu. As the cave delved deeper into the earth, the temperature gradually rose. Mo Wen stood up and headed for the next platform, where it would be even hotter—this was the last platform that Old Lu had carved for him.
Sitting on the platform, Mo Wen felt as if he were a piece of meat roasting over a charcoal fire, with the surrounding heat scorching him like flames. The pain from the high temperature felt like being burned, yet there were no actual injuries on his body. This sensation of burning was not merely physical; it was primarily mental. The torment was overwhelming, making him feel as if he were on the brink of collapse. He wanted to scream but gritted his teeth to endure it. According to Old Lu's instructions, he needed to remain there until he could no longer feel pain. Gradually, he adapted to this sensation; the pain in his mind began to diminish until he no longer sweated and felt no discomfort—indeed, he even found some comfort in it. Noticing his changes, he realized his body had grown stronger. As for Shen Hun's transformation, it was not as evident; he still needed to continue training but would have to find another place. Now that he was close to the bottom of the cave, further down lay molten lava—he was not yet ready to face such extreme temperatures. If he descended further, it would be a matter of refining his life rather than refining his spirit.
On a high mountain in a forest where snow never melted at its peak, a child around nine years old continued to climb upward. After ascending a certain distance, he would sit down to meditate. Once his body and mind adjusted to the biting cold, he would continue his ascent. Finally, he reached the summit and sat down. The searing flames and piercing cold were no exaggeration; enduring both physical pain and spiritual anguish was necessary. For a moment, he felt completely frozen, even his brain seemed to stop functioning.
Atop the snowy mountain, a humanoid ice block cracked open from within, revealing a child sitting cross-legged on the ground. He stood up and stretched his limbs but did not descend immediately; instead, he stood at the peak admiring a view he had never seen before. The summit was above the clouds; looking out over them felt like gazing at a white ocean below. In the distance, some mountain peaks emerged from the clouds while others showed only half their bodies. The summit itself was obscured by higher clouds, but through gaps in the clouds beneath him, he could see forests stretching out like a carpet into the distance.
“There will be plenty of opportunities to see this again; viewing from above is truly beautiful. Let’s go; we need to head to our next destination.” Before Mo Wen could respond, Old Lu grabbed him and headed straight down the mountain.
After some time together, Old Lu took him through nearly every Extreme Realm in the forest for divine training. With Old Lu in this forest, it felt like their own backyard. Of course, Old Lu also told him that once his Realm increased, he would find that what seemed like Extreme Realms now would feel as simple as sitting by a fire pit in front of a cabin in the woods.
