Jiang Shiyu was fully prepared to confront Shi Yi. Huang Min, Jiang Yuan, and a few others arrived at Lan Yun Technology, where Qin Nianzhe greeted them in a suit. The group successfully signed the contract in the conference room.
Soon after, Cheng Zhou arrived. He was a major shareholder of Lan Yun Technology, holding the largest share after Jiang Shiyu and Qin Nianzhe. He had been eager to meet them for a long time, as he had a great appreciation for talent. After exchanging greetings with the group, he headed to Jiang Shiyu's office.
Cheng Zhou found Jiang Shiyu sitting there in a black turtleneck sweater and black casual pants, clearly not one for formal attire. He held an old-fashioned Black and Gold Fountain Pen in his hand. Upon seeing Cheng Zhou enter, Jiang Shiyu removed his glasses and rubbed his temples.
"What’s up?" Cheng Zhou asked as he sat down, casually resting one foot on his knee while his polished leather shoe swayed gently. "How are you planning to spend New Year's Eve?"
Jiang Shiyu shot him a strange look. "Are you suggesting we celebrate together? Not a chance. I mean, tonight at Yun Li's New Year's Eve party, she might accept He Lin Cheng's confession."
Jiang Shiyu paused, his fingers still pressed against his temples as he opened his eyes in confusion. "How do you know that?" he asked.
"My sister Ran Ran told me," Cheng Zhou replied with a raised eyebrow. Shu Ran had let slip her conversation with Yun Li during their chat last night.
Cheng Zhou wasn't trying to meddle; he was just curious to see how things would unfold. After hearing what he wanted, he stood up to leave.
He called Shu Ran, reminding her to intercept him if he tried to cause any trouble since he would be heading to Su City that afternoon.
"Do you think we’re a bit like spies?" Shu Ran joked.
Cheng Zhou replied nonchalantly, "No, maybe it’s just you who resembles one." He teased her.
Annoyed, Shu Ran retorted, "Get lost," and hung up the phone with a snap.
Cheng Zhou chuckled at her reaction.
At six o'clock in the evening, Jiang Shiyu boarded a private plane bound for Su City. Chen Yi was beside him, reporting on Lan Yun's operations. After finishing his report, he mentioned personal matters. "President Jiang, I’ve bought tickets for the New Year's Eve party in Su City—front row seats. I just sent them to your phone."
Jiang Shiyu rested his forehead on his hand, eyes closed, and replied softly, "Mm."
Upon arriving in Su City, he took two hours to relax at the hotel before heading to the venue. The staff kindly escorted him to his seat and had prepared snacks and drinks for him.
Dressed in a black down jacket and black casual pants, with boots on his feet, Jiang Shiyu sat there with one leg crossed over the other. Although his face was obscured by a mask and hat, his presence was hard to ignore.
Shu Ran scanned the area and immediately fixed her gaze on him when he appeared. She then discussed with the staff and swapped seats with the person next to Jiang Shiyu. Naturally, the other party was more than willing to exchange for a spot in the front row.
When Shu Ran settled down beside him, she remained silent. Jiang Shiyu lowered his gaze to handle some work on his phone.
As Yun Li and He Lin Cheng's performance began, Jiang Shiyu turned off his phone and lifted his eyes to the stage. The background screen transformed into an ethereal scene, with petals dancing in the air, creating a visual that felt almost real.
On the expansive stage stood the two performers, clad in orange gradient costumes. The upper part was orange, with a green belt, gradually fading into white at the hem of their skirts. The layers of the skirts flowed gracefully like silk.
As they moved closer together and exchanged glances, it seemed as if sweetness filled the air, prompting excited screams from the audience. However, amidst the excitement, many were simply there to enjoy the spectacle.
Both performers were somewhat public figures who had participated in various dance programs on television. They had previously been in the spotlight and were now making a resurgence. Listening to comments around her about their compatibility made Jiang Shiyu feel slightly annoyed.
As an ethereal melody filled the air, the audience quieted down significantly; the song chosen by the duo was a popular hit from a current artist. Suddenly, Shu Ran spoke up beside him, "Look how well they match; shouldn’t you change your seat?"
At that moment on stage, Yun Li dashed towards He Lin Cheng, who caught her as her skirt flared out. The audience then realized that her skirt was not entirely white but rather a vibrant array of colors that spun like delicate flowers blooming.
He gently set Yun Li down and then took her fingertips in his hand. As she lifted her back leg straight up, more flowers seemed to bloom around them before they quickly concluded their performance.
Their movements were smooth and graceful; their breathing steady, and their facial expressions flawless as they performed. Jiang Shiyu listened to Shu Ran's comment without responding, his attention fixed on the duo on stage.
As they reached the climax of their performance, petals fell gracefully around them in a beautiful scene. He Lin Cheng stood behind Yun Li as they mirrored each other's movements perfectly; he wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her into a spin, sending petals swirling around them.
During a high note, they turned their backs to each other to showcase their skills; He Lin Cheng executed a flying kick while leaping gracefully into the air, creating an elegant arc with his skirt trailing behind him like a beautiful wave.
Yun Li performed a stunning back kick that sent her skirt soaring upward, revealing layers of vibrant colors while scattering petals into the air—like a bud blossoming into full bloom—leaving first-time viewers of such professional performances utterly captivated.
The promotional effect was indeed achieved. The sound of singing echoed in the air, and Jiang Shiyu found himself lost in thought. He surprisingly remained unbothered by Shu Ran's incessant chatter, simply listening and watching as Shu Ran became more animated, almost revealing the wedding date of the two.
The song lasted about five minutes, but it was not the original version; it was a reimagined rendition. The professional singer had elevated the song to new heights.
After it ended, Jiang Shiyu left without a word, and Shu Ran hurried to catch up, worried he might cause a scene.
Backstage, the staff gave Yun Li and He Lin Cheng a big hug. The two were also scheduled for an interview. They went to the interview still dressed in their performance outfits. Inevitably, questions about their personal lives arose during the interview. Both remained tight-lipped, focusing instead on discussing aspects of Classical Dance and amusing incidents that occurred during rehearsals. The reporters often tried to steer the conversation towards fans or fandoms, but both insisted on referring to the audience instead, wanting to avoid being categorized into fan culture.
As midnight approached, the host delivered an impassioned speech. The invited actors, singers, and boy band members took to the stage, embracing each other and offering blessings with joyful smiles on their faces.
At the stroke of midnight, fireworks erupted in a dazzling display against the night sky. Jiang Shiyu stood backstage watching Yun Li interact with everyone on stage—admiring each other, chatting, and embracing. The way everyone looked at her and He Lin Cheng was filled with admiration, as if they were a perfect match or destined for each other—a beautiful blessing.
This scene struck him hard; his exposed eyes were filled with loneliness and sorrow, and he felt his eyes redden. Yet he remained rooted in place.
Shu Ran noticed this and was surprised that he hadn’t stormed off. How unusual.
On the bus ride back to the hotel, everyone was still buzzing with excitement, playfully teasing the two of them.
Yun Li smiled but said nothing.
He Lin Cheng chuckled and told them to stop joking around; otherwise, he would have to punish them when they got back.
Everyone immediately quieted down a bit but continued to sneak glances at the pair.
He Lin Cheng seemed somewhat distracted.
Once they got off the bus and gathered their belongings to head inside, He Lin Cheng called out to Yun Li.
Xiao Kuan took Yun Li's bag from her hand and winked at her as if to say, "Look at you two."
