It was last week, not yesterday, you fool. Though those words were spoken, there was an unmistakable hint of affection behind them.
The attendant beside them chuckled, "You two brothers seem to get along really well!"
Jiang Ci chimed in, "Yeah! My relationship with my brother is great. Sister, you're so beautiful! It's a pity my brother already has a girlfriend; otherwise, I would definitely introduce you as my sister-in-law."
The attendant smiled awkwardly at this and stole a glance at Jiang Shiyu. He was indeed a striking young man who could easily capture anyone's heart.
Jiang Shiyu clicked his tongue in annoyance at his brother's chatter. "What a hassle."
The attendant maintained a polite smile, "Of course, sir."
Jiang Shiyu took the leash and led Jiang Ci outside. Once they got into the car, both the boy and the dog seemed excited.
Through the rearview mirror, Jiang Shiyu glanced at Jiang Ci, who was energetically playing with the director in the back seat. Had he really slept on the plane?
Jiang Ci nodded enthusiastically, "Yeah! I fell asleep right after lunch and took another nap on the plane. I'm not tired at all now!"
"At Xiangyuan No. 1," Jiang Shiyu warned the little boy and the old dog, "Keep it down when we go inside; don’t disturb your sister-in-law and your mom while they're sleeping."
Although the director was a silly Samoyed, he had long been tamed by Jiang Shiyu to be clever and obedient. Jiang Ci's expression turned serious as he nodded in agreement with the dog.
When they opened the door, Yun was still awake, sitting on the living room sofa waiting for them. As soon as she saw them enter, she stood up and approached them.
Jiang Ci, feeling bold since Yun was still awake, ran towards her shouting, "Sister Yun!" At the same time, the director also rushed over alongside Jiang Ci with a couple of excited barks.
However, when Yun caught sight of the Samoyed, fear instantly filled her eyes as if her heart had jumped into her throat. She instinctively tried to back away but was too late; she was knocked over by the enthusiastic dog.
She let out a sharp scream that echoed with pure terror. The director's barking only heightened her already frayed nerves.
Sitting on the ground, trembling and wide-eyed, she stared at the Samoyed that was now so close to her. Tears quickly welled up in her eyes. Jiang Shiyu hadn’t anticipated this reaction and quickly called out, "Director, get down!"
The director seemed to realize he had scared her and lowered his ears, his cute smile fading as he sat quietly beneath the television.
She sniffled, looking utterly wronged. Jiang Ci was also startled; he hadn’t expected to scare his sister to tears on their second meeting.
Jiang Shiyu walked over and picked Yun up. She clutched his arm tightly, her fingers turning pale from the pressure, her legs trembling so much that she could barely stand.
"Sister, are you okay? I’m sorry, it wasn’t intentional for me and the director," Jiang Ci said, feeling a bit helpless as he clenched his small hands.
Yun looked up, her almond-shaped eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I’m fine," she insisted, forcing a smile.
Jiang Shiyu frowned as he carried her to the bedroom. He placed her gently on the bed. Although Yun managed to stop crying, her body continued to tremble with fear.
Jiang Shiyu sat down beside her, his expression complicated. "If I had known you were afraid of dogs, I wouldn’t have let Jiang Ci bring the director here."
Yun knew that Jiang Shiyu had a dog—a Samoyed. She had once secretly seen him walking it. In an attempt to overcome her fear of dogs, she had gone with Shu Ran and Yu Meng to Peng Qingyu’s house to see his Border Collie.
She had tried many times but still failed; when it came to liking him and getting close, the only thing she couldn’t conquer was her fear of dogs. Just looking at them made her feel scared, let alone touching one. Large dogs made her legs go weak at the sight.
Taking a moment to collect herself, Yun shook her head. "I... I’m fine. As long as they don’t come near me, I’ll be okay."
But seeing her like this made it clear that her fear of dogs was deeply ingrained.
"How can you be fine?"
