Others had separated the two, and Qin Nianzhe, feeling restless, wanted to take matters into his own hands. Hearing Jiang Shiyu's words, he excitedly shouted, "This is clear!"
Everyone left, and Yun Li anxiously glanced at Jiang Shiyu before following Qin Nianchu out. The Club Manager turned off the surveillance in the private room and stationed people at the door to guard it.
Inside the room, Jiao Changyang's people had been driven out. Jiang Shiyu stood beside Chi Zhi Yu, his hand resting on his shoulder, relieved that the diary was unharmed. This thought eased his mind as he glared fiercely at Jiao Changyang across from him.
The situation was turning against Jiao Changyang, who began to panic. "If you dare to touch me, I will definitely call the police and have you expelled! Just wait for it!"
Jiang Shiyu pulled out a pack of cigarettes and lit one, smirking as the flame flickered between his eyes. The smoke curled around him as he leaned back casually. "Do you really think you'll get that chance?"
Chi Zhi Yu landed punch after punch on Jiao Changyang while Qin Nianzhe kicked him from the side. Soon enough, Jiao Changyang was left bruised and battered. Jiang Shiyu leaned against the bar, smoking, and when he felt it was enough, he extinguished the cigarette and pulled Chi Zhi Yu back to stop him.
"That's enough; if we keep going, it won't end well."
Five minutes later, the door to the private room opened. Chi Zhi Yu's shoulders slumped; the heavy malice still lingered in him as he felt trapped like a cornered beast. He reached out to Yun Li, who cautiously returned the diary she had been holding.
Looking at the diary in front of him, Chi Zhi Yu's bloodshot eyes suddenly softened. Tears welled up in his gaze as he noticed that his knuckles were scraped. Trembling, he gently opened it; it was intact, and the spilled drinks had been wiped clean—only some of the ink had smudged.
It felt as if he had regained something precious. He trembled as he bit his lip and gasped for breath while forcing a smile.
Beside him, Qin Nianchu's eyes were red from crying as she stared blankly at this scene. Suddenly, she felt a sense of relief wash over her. It was like a balloon slowly deflating until it was completely flat—she had truly accepted that Chi Zhi Yu would never develop feelings for her or anyone else.
Chi Zhi Yu's bloodshot eyes fixed on Qin Nianchu. "You better give me an explanation."
Qin Nianchu instinctively shivered at his words as he walked past her. Everyone held their breath in silence.
Jiang Shiyu stepped outside, and the Club Manager spoke respectfully, "Young Master Jiang, how should we handle things inside?"
"Send him to the hospital."
Following his instructions, the manager led people back in.
"I advise you to think twice before calling the police or reporting to the school, or else you won't be able to handle the consequences."
This warning was directed at Jiao Changyang's associates. Their eyes darted around, filled with fear; they had clearly witnessed the manager's earlier behavior. They were just ordinary college students who got along well with Jiao Changyang, but they weren't willing to jeopardize their futures for him. Besides, this was all Jiao Changyang's doing; he knew that diary was a forbidden topic for Chi Zhi Yu, yet he still chose to provoke it. He had no one to blame but himself.
Jiao Changyang was carried out, sprawled on the ground, completely motionless. Jiang Shiyu stepped in front of Yun Li, blocking her line of sight. Yun Li clenched her bag tightly, feeling anxious and unsettled.
In the car, Yun Li held her canvas bag close, wanting to ask something. They arrived at Xiangyuan No. 1 and got out to head home.
Jiang Shiyu sat on the sofa and reached out his hand to Yun Li for a hug. She placed her bag aside and sat on his lap, resting her cheek against him. Noticing her emotional state, Jiang Shiyu gently touched her earlobe and spoke softly, "You were scared, weren't you? It's alright; it's all been resolved."
Yun Li didn't understand why Chi Zhi Yu had such a strong reaction, but she knew how important that diary was to him. It must have belonged to that girl! Otherwise, she couldn't fathom what could make him so obsessed.
Yun Li didn't want to pry into others' private matters, but she took out her phone, hoping to express her questions and seek clarification from him.
