The Front Desk Attendant lowered her head to check the reservation, then looked up with an apologetic expression. "I'm sorry, but you booked four rooms with king-sized beds, and unfortunately, all of them are fully booked today. We only have three available. The staff member who just arrived forgot to close the system, which led to your extra booking."
Shu frowned, ready to hold someone accountable. "How can such a large hotel make this kind of mistake?"
The Front Desk Attendant stepped back and bowed slightly. "I apologize, everyone. This was indeed our oversight."
Shu was about to say something when Yun Li interrupted. "Are there no other room types available?"
The Front Desk Attendant shook her head, her tone subdued. "I'm sorry, but we have no other rooms left."
"Then let's cancel and find another hotel," Shu suggested.
Yun Li quickly interjected, "No, that's not an option. I've checked other hotels; they’re all worse in terms of environment and accommodation experience."
Cheng Zhou stood quietly beside them, watching Shu's performance.
Upon hearing this, Yun Li realized that Shu was picky and would definitely not want to stay in an uncomfortable hotel. "Then how about the two of us share a room? We can chat together in the evening."
Shu shook her head in refusal. "No, I haven't been sleeping well these past few days. Sharing a room will make it even harder for me to sleep."
Yun Li glanced at Cheng Zhou and Jiang Shiyu. "What about you two—"
Before she could finish her sentence, both Cheng Zhou and Jiang Shiyu rejected the idea.
Cheng Zhou said firmly, "No."
Jiang Shiyu scoffed lightly. "I’m afraid people might misunderstand if two grown men share a room."
Now they were in a dilemma.
Shu secretly smiled and snapped her fingers. "Hao Hao! You and Jiang Shiyu can share a room! It makes sense since you two are already a couple."
The Front Desk Attendant's eyes lit up as she chimed in, "If you two are a couple, it makes things easier! To express our apologies, we can offer you complimentary breakfast delivered to your room every morning at seven. How does that sound?"
Yun Li's eyes widened in visible panic. "No, no way!"
Shu took hold of her hand gently and spoke earnestly, "It's fine, Hao Hao. Don’t feel shy; there’s free breakfast too!"
Shu placed her ID on the front desk with a smile. "Sister, let’s arrange it this way."
The Front Desk Attendant beamed as she accepted the ID. "Great! Please hold on for a moment."
Yun Li's face turned bright red; she couldn’t even glance at Jiang Shiyu beside her.
In contrast to Yun Li’s shyness and discomfort, Jiang Shiyu appeared much more relaxed, his expression unchanged.
The Front Desk Attendant skillfully processed the room key and looked up with an even bigger smile as she handed one key card and the ID back to Shu.
"This is your room, on the seventeenth floor. Here’s your key card."
She handed the second key card and identification to Cheng Zhou. "This is your key card, also on the seventeenth floor."
Then she took both IDs and began to register their stay. Afterward, she handed the key card to Jiang Shiyu. "Your room is on the twenty-third floor. Please take care."
"Enjoy your stay, everyone."
Yun Li stepped closer, her face still flushed. Her large, round eyes held a hint of uncertainty. "Um, could we possibly switch rooms? I’d like to stay on the same floor as her."
This way, if anything unexpected happens, she can easily run to my room.
Shu knew exactly what Yun Li was thinking and immediately pulled her along. "Oh, there’s really no need to switch; they’re all the same. Besides, Cheng Zhou won’t feel at ease unless he sees me with his own eyes."
Yun Li understood now; Shu had clearly made arrangements with the hotel beforehand. When did she become so compliant under Cheng Zhou's supervision?
They entered the elevator and soon arrived at the seventeenth floor. Shu exchanged a wink with Yun Li before stepping out with Cheng Zhou.
Once the elevator doors closed, Shu felt relieved and walked ahead. Cheng Zhou slowly pulled two suitcases behind him. "Aren't you worried about Yun Li finding out you did this on purpose?"
Shu used to be more cautious, but after spending so much time in America, her thoughts had loosened considerably.
What could happen? Besides, they were both together now; it was perfectly normal for them to do whatever they wanted. As for Jiang Shiyu, while he liked to have many girlfriends, it wasn’t clear what his peculiar preferences were. At least he was clean; they had attended the same school before, and he rarely spent time with girls—this much was evident.
Hao Hao had also mentioned that he had never even held hands with his previous girlfriends, which made her feel more at ease.
In their class, Jenny had already slept with her boyfriend back in high school. In college, very few people remained pure; as long as they didn’t get pregnant or catch any diseases, having a boyfriend who looked like a male model wasn’t a loss.
Shu had an expression of indifference as she spoke.
Cheng Zhou frowned at her words. "What kind of thinking is that?"
Shu snatched her suitcase from him. "I think my perspective is just fine! Can you stop being so old-fashioned?" With that, she swiped the room card and entered without hesitation, closing the door firmly behind her.
