"Let's give it a try," Qin Nianchu said as she tugged at Qin Nianzhe's sleeve, linking arms with Chen Jin Xiu as they queued for food.
Jiang Shiyu remained standing, his gaze fixed on Yun Li, his intense stare making her feel uncomfortable. She avoided looking at him and turned to He Lin Cheng. "Senior, let's go over there!"
He Lin Cheng glanced at Jiang Shiyu before replying.
With that, Yun Li walked past him directly.
Watching her leave, Jiang Shiyu slowly clenched his fist.
Yun Li and He Lin Cheng sat down facing each other. He Lin Cheng stole another look at Jiang Shiyu's figure and asked her, "Yun Li, what’s your relationship with that Jiang Shiyu?"
"I'm not trying to pry into your private life," he added quickly, "but he seems to have a different attitude towards you."
Yun Li picked up her chopsticks and took a bite of the stir-fried meat, a faint bitter smile crossing her lips. "We're just ordinary friends. I didn't expect you to be so nosy, Senior." Her tone was light and teasing, showing no signs of discomfort.
He Lin Cheng chuckled softly.
After a couple of minutes, Qin Nianchu and Chen Jin Xiu arrived. They quickly settled down on Yun Li's left side.
Qin Nianzhe and Jiang Shiyu took seats to the left of He Lin Cheng. Sitting diagonally across from her was Jiang Shiyu, and Yun Li tried her best not to look at him.
Chen Jin Xiu asked, "Li Li, how's your group dance coming along?"
Yun Li swallowed the meat in her mouth before responding, "It's done for now. We still need to fine-tune some moves later, but the teacher gave us a break today, so we don’t have to rehearse tonight."
Qin Nianzhe remarked, "I haven't seen you or A Yu around lately. One's busy rehearsing while the other is busy competing; it’s just the three of us who are free."
Chen Jin Xiu and Qin Nianchu immediately chimed in, "You're the only one who's free."
Qin Nianchu added, "We have a performance for Chinese Folk Dance at the end of the semester; I'm busy too."
Chen Jin Xiu replied, "Our Modern Dance Department has activities as well."
Qin Nianzhe shrugged. "Looks like I'm the only one without anything to do."
Yun Li laughed softly and stole a glance at Jiang Shiyu. So he’s busy lately too?
He Lin Cheng spoke up, "Jiang Shiyu, right? What major are you studying?"
Jiang Shiyu couldn't be bothered to respond, remaining silent. Qin Nianzhe, finding He Lin Cheng annoying, answered for him, "A Yu and I are both majoring in Aerospace."
That sounds like a pretty tough major. What does your field focus on?
Qin Nianzhe, with his mouth full of fried pork slices from Northeast Cuisine, spoke indistinctly, "Rocket Satellites, you know?"
He Lin Cheng nodded.
Qin Nianzhe looked quite pleased with himself. "That's what it means."
He Lin Cheng understood and replied, "That's pretty cool."
"Of course," Qin Nianzhe said.
Jiang Shiyu remained quiet, eating his meal while occasionally glancing at Yun Li.
He Lin Cheng turned to Jiang Shiyu, noticing his expression. "Classmate, are you participating in a lot of competitions?"
Jiang Shiyu shot him a glance and replied flatly, "It's alright."
After finishing their meal, Qin Nianzhe suggested going out to have some fun, but Yun Li declined. "I'm a bit tired; you all go ahead!"
Qin Nianchu added, "Jinxiu and I still have rehearsals later; we don't have time."
Jiang Shiyu said, "The competition is about to start; there's no time."
Qin Nianzhe howled dramatically, "Oh heavens! Am I the only one with free time?"
Everyone couldn't help but laugh. Jiang Shiyu shot him a sidelong glance and scoffed lightly, "You should focus on your studies instead! Don't flunk again."
