Upon reaching the nineteenth floor, there was no one else living in the building. 0

Jiang Shiyu scanned his fingerprint, and a mechanical voice sounded before the door opened. He stepped inside and turned on the light in the foyer, saying to her, "Come in!" 0

Yun Li hesitantly walked in. The spacious interior was decorated in a bright and minimalist style. 0

Jiang Shiyu opened the cabinet, revealing only two pairs of men's slippers—one black and one gray. The black pair had clearly been worn, while the other remained clean and untouched. 0

He tore off the tag and placed it in front of her. "You should wear these." 0

Yun Li's voice was soft as she replied, "Thank you." Her own pink slippers seemed somewhat out of place here. 0

She slipped on the gray slippers, which were quite large and felt loose on her feet. 0

Jiang Shiyu opened the bedroom door and said, "You’ll sleep here tonight." The sheets and blankets were fresh; the cleaning lady had come last week to change them. Although Jiang Shiyu rarely stayed here, his grandfather had hired a cleaner to regularly tidy up the place. Thus, it remained well-kept. 0

Yun Li stood there and nodded slightly. Noticing her discomfort, Jiang Shiyu smiled gently to help her relax. "Don’t be nervous; it’s just the two of us here." 0

It was precisely because it was just the two of them that she felt nervous, Yun Li thought to herself, but she managed to smile faintly and nod in response. 0

Jiang Shiyu turned on the heating to warm up the room. "Would you like some water?" 0

Yun Li nodded. 0

Jiang Shiyu went to get a kettle to boil water. He took off his outer jacket, leaving only a black hoodie underneath, rolling up his sleeves to reveal toned muscles in his arms. 0

"Come sit here." 0

Yun Li moved her feet and gently walked over to the bar to take a seat. This house was so big; would he feel lonely living here alone? It seemed that no one came here, making it even more desolate. 0

The water boiled quickly. Jiang Shiyu picked up a cup and poured hot water into it, then handed it to her, cautioning, "Be careful, it's hot." 0

Yun Li nodded, lost in thought as she gazed at the steaming water. "I'm going to take a shower. After you finish, get some rest." 0

With that, Jiang Shiyu left for the bathroom. Yun Li heard the bathroom door close and, after a while, the sound of running water. 0

She blew on the hot water and took a small sip. Her gaze began to wander around the room. The living room was spacious, featuring a huge floor-to-ceiling window that offered a view of the night scenery. The sight was particularly stunning; even though it was late, the neon lights and the stars from the tall buildings were still visible. 0

Yun Li yawned; the water was too hot, so she added a bit of cold water before drinking it down. After finishing, her stomach felt warm. She walked into the bedroom, where Jiang Shiyu had already turned on the lights for her. 0

As soon as she entered, she noticed the dark gray tones of the room, which felt somewhat oppressive yet spacious enough not to be suffocating. The curtains were open, providing an unobstructed view of the night outside. Yun Li closed the curtains and looked around; there were no decorations—just a bed and two nightstands—not even a photo in sight. 0

She took off her coat and hung it on a rack before climbing into bed. The blanket smelled nice and carried a hint of Jiang Shiyu's scent. Her heart began to race, and she could clearly hear her heartbeat. 0

It felt like she was closer to him now. 0

A smile crept onto Yun Li's lips as her heart swelled with warmth. She curled up in the blanket and closed her eyes, wishing for morning to come soon; staying any longer would feel like an intrusion. 0

Jiang Shiyu emerged from the bathroom to find the living room empty, the cups washed and returned to their original places. Dressed in black pajamas, he pulled a beer from the fridge and sat at the bar to drink, occupying the spot where Yun Li had just been. 0

The cold liquid slid down his throat, and he felt as if he were impervious to the chill. His gaze drifted toward the bedroom, his eyes filled with an unwarranted tenderness. One empty can after another piled up as Jiang Shiyu checked his phone, realizing it was already past one o'clock. 0

He crumpled the can in his hand, then tossed all the empty cans into the trash before preparing to lie down on his side to sleep. 0
