Jiang Shiyu playfully poked his cheek with his tongue, making him look both mischievous and charming, in a way that was undeniably cute.
Yun Li released the little pig balloon, letting it float in the air. When she was a child, she loved it when her father bought her these balloons; she would always insist on getting one whenever they went out. Their home was filled with new balloons every day, making it feel like a balloon shop.
Jiang Shiyu turned to look at her. Although he didn't understand where this joy came from, he could see it in her expression—something he had never experienced himself. The love of his parents was something he had never truly felt. A hint of envy unconsciously flickered in his eyes. As someone who had always been the envy of others for his privileged background, no one would have imagined that Jiang Shiyu would one day envy someone else.
Standing tall, he reached out to pat the little pig balloon, finding it quite amusing.
Yun Li shot him a glare. "Don't touch my balloon."
Suddenly realizing her tone was off, she quickly reined it in. She had forgotten that the person beside her was not her father.
Jiang Shiyu heard the slight hint of a pout in her voice and chuckled softly, "I won't touch it," his tone surprisingly gentle.
Yun Li felt warmth spread through her heart, sweet enough to make one feel giddy.
Just then, her phone rang. She answered it, and her expression turned serious. "We need to go right away." After hanging up, she added anxiously, "Jinxiu drank too much and accidentally knocked over a glass; Meng Meng lost her balance and got hurt."
"Don't worry, we'll take a taxi," Jiang Shiyu's steady voice reassured her.
The two of them took a taxi and arrived at the restaurant just as they saw Chen Jin Xiu being escorted by Senior Shen Huai.
Yun Li's eyes lit up. "Senior, you're here!"
Senior Shen Huai nodded slightly, his expression not quite right. "Yes, I brought her here. Yun Li, you should head back to school soon."
Yun Li nodded eagerly. "Where are you taking Jinxiu?"
Shen Huai glanced at her sleeping face, his gaze darkening. Given her current state, she could only stay at a hotel.
Yun Li understood Senior Shen Huai's concerns but felt uneasy about leaving Jinxiu alone with him since they were just two young people together. "Senior, my friend is also staying at a hotel. Let Jinxiu stay with her!"
Shen Huai didn't hesitate and nodded in agreement.
Peng Qingyu carried Yu Meng out. After checking her over, the restaurant manager applied some medicine and bandaged her up; fortunately, there was nothing serious.
Yun Li wanted to share a ride with them, but Jiang Shiyu held her back, saying they would need to switch to another car since there wasn’t enough space.
The two cars headed towards Jingda Hotel. Once they settled Yu Meng and Chen Jin Xiu, everyone let out a sigh of relief.
Peng Qingyu turned to Yun Li and said, "I’m going to rest for a bit. If you don’t want to go back to school, just squeeze in here."
Yun Li nodded in agreement. Shen Huai and Jiang Shiyu didn’t come inside; it was a bit inconvenient for them.
Jiang Shiyu leaned against the wall, her eyelids fluttering as she glanced at Shen Huai. "Is Senior Shen pursuing Chen Jin Xiu?"
Shen Huai’s worried expression slowly faded as he smiled at Jiang Shiyu. "Even you noticed?"
Jiang Shiyu played with a lighter, one hand in her pocket, her gaze indifferent. "If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I would have thought you liked Yun Li."
"Why would you think that?" Shen Huai asked, puzzled.
Jiang Shiyu scoffed lightly. "The way you were with Yun Li before was so familiar; if I didn’t know better, I’d think you were chasing after her."
Now Shen Huai was confused. He had met Chen Jin Xiu last year during the sports meet; her competitive spirit and resilience had left a mark on him. He felt that if he could just be around her a little more, she would notice him. He even asked Yun Li to help him talk about himself more, but it had backfired awkwardly.
Yun Li stepped out to check on the two of them before turning to Shen Huai. "Senior, I still think you should clarify things with Jin Xiu. That way she’ll understand how you feel."
A hint of embarrassment appeared on Shen Huai’s face as he rubbed his neck. "I... I don’t really know how to say anything straightforward."
