As the new school year began, the campus buzzed with excitement, especially among the naive freshmen, who found everything fresh and new.
Lin Lei and Shen Chunyan, now in their third year, watched the eager faces of the newcomers and couldn't help but smile at the memories of their own naive beginnings. The couple strolled hand in hand along the garden path, heading out for a dinner that Shen Chunyan had arranged with her classmates.
Shen Chunyan exuded a mature charm, no longer the innocent girl she once was. As they walked through the campus, she became the center of attention for many boys. Noticing Lin Lei's distracted gaze fixed on her, she playfully asked, "What’s wrong? Don’t you recognize me?"
Lin Lei's hand rested on her waist, and Shen Chunyan wore a pair of tight jeans that accentuated her curves even more.
"You're killing me," she teased. "Someone might see us!"
Indeed, two first-year boys were walking behind them and had noticed. Lin Lei tightened his embrace around Shen Chunyan and slowed down to let them pass. Pouting in mock annoyance, Shen Chunyan glared at him. If it weren't for the crowd around them, Lin Lei would have leaned in for a kiss. Seeing the fire in his eyes, she squinted playfully, putting on an adorable act that made Lin Lei grit his teeth in frustration. He was ready to disregard everything and kiss her senseless when she said, "Alright, I'm here."
They had arrived at a small steakhouse by the school wall. Lin Lei stood outside while Shen Chunyan playfully instructed him before turning to enter. However, Lin Lei pulled her back, knowing she would tease him if he got too close. She laughed and shot him a mock glare while keeping her distance. Just then, Xia Yufei, Shen Chunyan's best friend, burst out of the door.
"Enough already!" Xia Yufei exclaimed. "Do you have to do this every time? Isn’t Lin Lei coming with us?"
"Mind your own business!" Lin Lei made a face at her.
"Lin Lei has something going on in his department; he has another gathering," Shen Chunyan explained.
"Perfect!" Xia Yufei said with a smirk. "I was just about to introduce my new boyfriend to you."
"Save it! You probably can’t handle one boyfriend yourself, let alone introduce another."
"Ah! You jerk, Lin Lei!"
Just as Xia Yufei was about to retaliate verbally, Lin Lei pulled her close and planted a quick kiss on her cheek, wishing her "Happy Birthday," before darting away.
Xia Yufei wasn’t mad; she was delighted instead. She had a crush on Lin Lei too; they had even shared intimate moments together. Linking arms with Shen Chunyan, they entered the restaurant together for their traditional post-school celebration party hosted by Xia Yufei.
Once inside, Shen Chunyan exclaimed, "Wow! Xia Yufei, did you invite everyone from our class?"
Xia Yufei giggled; she had only planned to invite a few people initially but somehow word spread. Everyone found an excuse to join in for a feast—whether they were close friends or not—resulting in a lively gathering that turned into a class-wide dinner.
The restaurant buzzed like a marketplace as Xia Yufei led Shen Chunyan to find a spot. Spotting Liang Kang among the crowd, Xia Yufei settled down next to him while Shen Chunyan naturally took a seat beside another close friend, Zhu Bing. Little did anyone know that they formed a secret trio among themselves.
